Less than ideal
This place was decorated cute, charming, warm and inviting, but small. Beautiful location up on a hill overlooking the lake. It would be a perfect place in the summer I’m sure, but I would not recommend it in the winter as the driveway is very steep and was nothing but a sheet of ice when we got there making it difficult to get up even with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. It was very dangerous especially when trying to get infants or elderly people in and out of the house. When brought to the owner’s attention she gave us the option to cancel but at that point it was too late to make other arrangements as it was already dark and we had tired, crying babies not to mention big plans for skiing the next day and no other hotel rooms available to rent for the night. There was no mention of the steep driveway or possible ice in the pre-check in communication nor was anything done about it to fix it for us which made getting in and out of the driveway or even walking up to the house from the street next to impossible forcing us to limit where we could go while we were staying there. The owner had lots of amenities available but so many things of their own were still there that you weren’t exactly sure what was available for us to use and what was not such as a freezer so packed full of food there was no room to put your own food. Wood burning fireplace doesn’t vent properly, not enough hot water to wash a sink full of dishes let alone 1 person take a hot shower, poor lighting throughout, kitchen table wobbly and unsafe, dog hair or cat hair noted on throw pillows and blankets in family room, and no toaster. We made the best of the situation and we were still able to go skiing which was why we were there in the first place, but overall less than ideal and unsafe getting in and out of due to the ice.
