This pains me to write because this could’ve been a great little stopping point, however the bathtub was actually filthy. It smelled like urine and there is a dark grey film that needs to be scrubbed off. I get that old tubs can have stains but these are not stains and could’ve been removed with cleaner and elbow grease. I had camped for a week and just wanted to take a nice hot bath; I did not get to take one. Also I would add a sign for the cottage because it was confusing as to which door it was and the key pad was camouflaged.

Hi Gregory,
Thank you for giving Archaic Outhouse a try. I am sorry that your experience was so entirely adverse to those my husband and I strive to create daily for our cherished guests.
As you mentioned yourself, you seem to have confused the marks of age on a one hundred year old antique tub with that of dirt. I can assure you that where cleanliness is concerned the professionals we use take meticulous care while cleaning every aspect thoroughly. As owners, my husband or I double check the space before the arrival of each guest to make sure everything is spotless and as it should be.
It is important to note that across all of the platforms through which we offer stays, we have not had a single such complaint or issue with any of our previous guests. We don’t want any guest to have anything less than a five star experience.
I will take note and consider a sign to make even more clear the location of the entrance. We always send clear and concise directions to each guest well before check in, however the addition of a sign would help those who miss the welcome instructions.
If you are up for another stay amongst old but charming buildings, I’ll encourage you to give us another chance. We would love to welcome you again to enjoy what most of our guests experience when they visit. We have put a lot of love, time and resources into this little and charming old place, and although we don’t expect everyone to like it, we genuinely strive for that outcome.
