Love the overall atmosphere of this house. It’s an older semi-renovated cottage with a great beachy feel. We absolutely loved the deck and the convenience to the beach. My husband and i have four young children, and the location was second to none. However, there are two Nest pre-programmed thermostats that worked against each other the entirety of our stay, meaning every 2ish hours we had to reset them to override what was already programmed. This wouldn’t be a big deal in a regularly insulated house, but this one appeared to have no insulation in ceiling of the main area as you could see the roofing nails that had been painted over. This includes getting up during the night to turn the heat on over, and over. It was cool at night the week we went (40’s)at one point during the night when i got up to turn the heat on yet again, (i turned it to 68), the blast of heat set the fire alarm in our room off waking up the house. The Wi-Fi and television were out for half of our stay, and there was no phone service in the house. We aren’t big tech people so this wasn’t a huge deal except for the work conference we had scheduled while we were down there. I reached out to Sloan Realty about overriding the thermostat, and when to expect the internet back on which they promised to be back in touch, and never heard another word from anyone. When we arrived, the showers were not clean. Mold, hair, and a “scum ring” had to be scrubbed off the bath tub and around the ledge where the tile meets the tub before i could bathe my children. I also mentioned this issue to the person i spoke to on the phone and was basically ignored. I think when you pay a large cleaning fee for a 1100 sq ft house, it ought to be clean when you arrive. I wanted to love this property and this to be our new go to spot, but truthfully with being up so much during the night trying to keep the house at a comfortable temperature for our family, we left exhausted and ready to go home instead of refreshed and rejuvenated. I hope the thermostat issue can be resolved before the next renters arrive, and the communication is better for the next person who stays here.
