About this property
The Original: One-of-a-kind downtown apartment
This grand 2800 sq. ft. apartment was home to the original Gundersen clinic (now Emplify Health), now a nationally recognized healthcare system in the La Crosse community. The building was constructed in 1870 and is on the list of national historic buildings in downtown La Crosse.
Located just steps from the La Crosse Convention Center, shops, and restaurants. Some highlights include:
- A spacious and fully equipped kitchen including everything you need for a casual evening or a formal sit down dinner. - Three large bedrooms including a King room with a new ensuite bath, a River room with one queen bed, and the Gundersen room with two queen beds. (The Gundersen room shares a wall with a bar so this room receives loud noise at night.) - A moody Parlour that’s perfect for celebrating or relaxing contains a 60" smart TV, a chess and checkers pub table, and a vintage bar with barware. - A wedding room that’s perfect for getting ready for the big event in your life. It’s versatile arrangement allows it to be used as a private office, a place for your morning coffee, or a meditation room. - A large living room with an original brick fireplace with gas insert. - Central air conditioning - Licensed by the city of La Crosse
The apartment is located on the 2nd floor. Guests should be comfortable climbing a flight of stairs to access the apartment.
The apartment is located in the heart of downtown nightlife near many bars and restaurants. On busy nights, the bars are loud and you will hear noise until bar time. If you're looking for a quiet stay, this (unfortunately) is not the best place to stay.
Parking is within one block at the La Crosse Center Ramp at 201 Jay Street. Parking is paid from 6am-10pm Monday - Saturday. The cost is $1/hour with a daily maximum of $10. Nights and Sundays are free.

This place was absolutely amazing! Beautiful, historic, right downtown and so close to everything. Very unique! It did get loud at night being downtown, but the host provides earplugs and sound machines. We would definitely come back!
Everything was beautiful and centrally located. All of the people from my trip absolutely raved about the decor and the history behind this rental! Highly recommend to anyone going to La Crosse!
The place was amazing! Absolutely beautiful! Love the decor and the history of the place. Very clean and comfortable. Complimentary coffee and tea. The sound machine in the bedroom was a nice touch. We hope to book again for next year!
Clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable for larger group of people. Right in the heart of downtown. While very convenient location, bar and restaurants are open very late and are very loud. Something to consider.
Beautiful! Can’t wait to come back. We slept well including the 3 year old, despite some noise from a back to school pub crawl. Location is the best. Thanks for the history
One of the coolest properties we've stayed at. Ton of history, very spacious, clean. Would remmend to anyone needing a place to stay at if visiting LaCrosse
A great place for trade shows at the convention center
This location is ideal if you are attending a trade show at the convention center. Noise from the main street at bar time can be a bit distracting, but the property is delightful.
