About this property

Ski In/Ski Out Updated Big Sky Retreat

Looking for a luxurious Big Sky mountain retreat? Just take a look at the breath-taking photos to see the incredible views of Lone Peak displayed throughout this home. With equally excellent biking and ski access, this five bedroom, four and half bathroom home has plenty of space for your whole party.
From ski-in, ski-out access via the Cascade Lift to relaxing in the private hot tub, your family and friends are sure to make life-long memories during your stay at 11 Middle Rider. Upon walking through the front door, visitors are greeted by a welcoming living room with a wood burning fireplace as well as a Smart TV. Guests are encouraged to make use of the dreamy chef’s kitchen, fully stocked with everything you’ll need to cook a fabulous meal with friends or family and gather around the dinning table and bar top with seating for 10. In addition, the main living area displays an outdoor patio with deck furniture and wood burning fireplace and a propane BBQ grill, perfect for apres-ski or warm summer nights. There is also a large gear room, ½ bath, and heated 2-car garage with boot dryers and ski racks ideal for a day on the slopes. When it is time to relax, choose between the main living room or the downstairs TV room with a game table. When it is time for to retire for the night, five bedrooms are perfectly designed for everyone’s needs.
The main level provides a master bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom (includes a jetted tub) as well as an additional king room with en-suite bathroom. Downstairs the bunkroom includes a twin bed with a trundle option as well as a full under twin bunkbed and en-suite bathroom. The final two bedrooms share a bathroom and have a king and queen bed. On this bottom floor, there is also a laundry room with premium appliances for guests use and through the TV room, you can access a beautiful deck area with an outdoor fireplace, furniture, and hot tub.

While 11 Middle Rider may leave you wanting nothing more, the Mountain Village and Madison Base areas are each a 5-minute drive in either direction with numerous options for shopping, dining, ski rentals, lift tickets, and a small grocery store. Big Sky's Town Center is only a short 10-minute drive away, where guests can find additional options for activities, restaurants, retail, and local escapades. Looking for other things besides skiing and snowboarding while in Big Sky? Be sure to check out dog mushing, Nordic skiing, snow shoeing, a sleigh ride dinner at a local ranch, go on a snow mobile tour, or check out Yellowstone National Park. In the summer, choose from fly fishing, horseback riding, local ATV tours, hiking trails, rock climbing, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, golfing, white water rafting, weekly farmer's markets and free concerts. One of the best parts of this location is the proximity to Beehive Basin, truly one of the most scenic hikes in Big Sky. This home truly is the perfect retreat for all things Big Sky, Montana.

Ski Out:
From the garage, walk directly forward to the groomed trail, then proceed down the trail across Middle Rider Road and onto the groomed access below. Follow this trail (labelled with small green signs with “B” on them) down and to the left until you go through the tunnel to the White Otter chair lift. Ride White Otter to the top and cross White Wing to follow signage to the Big Sky Base area.

Ski In:
Follow White Otter Access to the rope tow for the Cascade. Take the Cascade Lift to the top and climb the stairs to a groomed trail (labelled with small green sign with “B” and parallels Beehive Basin Road) that will take you back to Middle Rider Road (make a quick left onto “D” trail and 11 Middle Rider will be directly left – the house is very close to the turn so don’t miss it 😊).

Not recommended for snowboarders or young children as the ski in/out are about 10-15 minutes long depending on snow conditions. The home is not ski in/ski out if Cascade lift is not running. The start date for Cascade lift varies, but typically early to mid-December. Access lifts may close before Big Sky Resort's closing day depending on snow conditions.

The view of the Mountain is spectacular
The pictures on Vrbo look amazing but it looks even more amazing when step inside the house. The house was perfect in all aspects and had everything we needed for a group of 8 of us. The ski on was awesome and just a short walk to an actual trail that will take you to the base of the mountain, was very cool to ride through the trees with houses around us. We got a lot of snow during our stay so make sure you have all wheel drive cause the driveway is uphill

Wonderful ski vacation!
The property is beautiful and in a great location for proximity to Big Sky. It feels very private and the views were stunning! Our group of 7 adults does like to cook and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. The beds and living room/lounge areas were very comfortable with more than enough space for all of us. The home is advertiser as ski/ski out which is why we chose it but it does have disclaimer on time of the year. The week we were in Big Sky got into the 40s for multiple days with no snow and very little on the ground (base at mountain was 25 inches) so while the ski out was possible (albeit icy), the ski in wasn’t doable because of rocks and not enough snow cover on the trails. However, we found driving to Big Sky and parking in the commuter lot (group of 3 or more), very easy - it’s a 5 min drive. Most of the locals we spoke to said these were highly unusual conditions for end of January and not something the property owners can control! One thing that would make the property even better would be some benches in the garage to put boots and gear on along with a better ski/snowboard rack. It’s a wonderful property and would come back for another Big Sky vacation!

Beautiful place
The house was amazing! Very clean and had everything we needed! Only part that wasn’t perfect was the Ski in to the mountain wasn’t bad but the ski out back to the house was very difficult. Otherwise it was an amazing place and would definitely come back! Thank you!
