Great secluded home

Home is immaculate and Bear Lake Reserve is easy to work with. The staff there is friendly and helpful and so is the homeowner. The cabin is very clean and new. There are plenty of activities at the Reserve. It is centrally located to small towns but a bit cumbersome to even leave the reserve is a good 20 minutes. There is NO land around the actual cabin and no privacy.

A quiet piece of paradise. We didn't want to leave!

We feel very lucky to have stumbled across this house and vacation destination. This house was perfect for our family. The back deck was the spot we all gathered for morning coffee before we went to the lake club. I cannot say enough about the amenities provided. We swam and boated and rented kayaks, took guided hikes and enjoyed an evening of painting and wine. The house was nicely equipped with everything you would need to get settled and stay. The owner was a joy to work with. We really cannot say enough good things about our trip to Bear Lake Reserve. We are telling everyone about this amazing place. We will most definitely be back.

Comfort in the Woods

Very relaxing and well appointed property. We had a small family reunion with my brothers and friends. The property was easy to access and provided a great kitchen to handle everyone.

Nice Mountain Cottage

The house is well maintained and has all you need to enjoy your stay in the mountains. It is located close to the trails within the resort. The back deck is nice and private, but there are lots of bugs in the evening.

Lovely

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful, cozy, clean and comfortable. Couldn't ask for more at the home. The Lake Club was fun - happily surprised to find out the outdoor pools are heated through October. The kids had a great time there. The restaurant was a little bit of a let down due to poor service and hit or miss food but the managers did a good job to make it right.

Great family friendly vacation spot!

Our family had a great time at bear lake. House was extremely clean and very comfortable inside and out. The lake club is very upscale and has everything you need to relax or have some fun on the lake. You can have drinks and food by the pool or rent a boat or jetski. This was a spurt of the moment getaway and honestly I had doubts but I will definitely be back in the future. Last but not least make sure you pay attention when you leave your cabin. We got turned around and spent over a hour trying to get back.

Great Girls Getaway

We had a great girls getaway at Bear Lake. It is centrally located to various small towns (Sylva, Cashiers, Bryson City and Highlands). Some in our group wanted to just chill and others were a little more active. There was plenty to do for all. Some went hiking while others laid by the pool and read. If you like serenity, change of pace and nice views, this is the place to be. The weather was perfect.

Great Time At BLR

Our family of five had a fabulous time at Bear Lake Reserve. The trails, the pool, the lake, and the clubhouse are all relaxing and fun. The cottage was gorgeous located on a quiet cul-de-sac. Ann has done a great decorating and everything we needed was right at hand. The porch on the front and the deck on the back made for a great place for a morning cup of coffee. We even had a bear come and visit the neighborhood on a couple occasions (trying to get into the trash cans). Thanks for the great time!

Mountian lover

Our cottage at Bear Lake was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of our daily life in Jacksonville, Florida. It was very attractive and well equipped with all the comforts of home. The front and back porches were a perfect place to relax and take in the mountian air. We were able to take a nice day trip to picturesque, nearby Highlands,NC and also enjoyed many water falls and hiking trails. I felt the highlight of our stay was enjoying a pontoon boat ride around Bear Lake. It is so pristinely beautiful "very On Golden Pond". The clubhouse and pool are nestled right by the lake. We didn't want to leave.

Unplug from reality and Recharge yourself!

This weekend getaway was above and beyond our expectations. The property is absolutely gorgeous and tucked away on a quiet street. We had everything we needed inside the cabin and it was exceptionally clean and felt like home. Beautiful 10min ride to the Lake Club, but close to the entrance gate for easy access to gate shop if you forgot any needed items or had a craving for ice cream! Brought our Golden Retriever who was in HEAVEN the entire time! Some of the activities we chose were to kayak to the waterfall, very doable and was nice to get out on the water. Got massages at the Lake Club by Misty...one of the best massages we've ever had! (Highly Recommend) We traveled into Sylva on Saturday and walked the farmers market and went to the little shops & breweries, very fun! This was one of the best vacations we've ever been on and was the ultimate relaxation, unplug from reality locations! We will definitely be back and have recommended to all of our friends!

The cottage was as good as advertised. The place was very clean and modern. Bear Lake Reserve is beautiful! Our 3 kids loved this trip more than any other we have taken. The only disappoint was not having a view of the lake.

Host profile image
We were living in Tulsa, OK when we bought the property at Bear Lake Reserve. We knew that one day we would be back on the East Coast and our dream was to have a family vacation home for our children and future grandchildren. We have since moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and our children live in Wayne PA, Baltimore MD, Charleston SC and Belgrade Serbia. We are now looking forward to have all 4+ of our grandchildren visit BLR in October! We will continue to rent our cottage for the busy summer months and use it ourselves during the off months. We hope to eventually spend half of the year at Bear Lake and the other half in FL. We have always loved the WNC mountains - hope you do too!

Why they chose this property

Our vacation rental is our dream vacation spot and we always look forward to our time there. It's always a special time for us. We already have many wonderful memories and can't wait to have more. We appreciate every minute of each day - whether we are golfing, hiking, canoeing, exploring the neighboring towns or just relaxing and connecting with nature and its beauty. When it's time to return to our other lives back in FL, we hate to say goodbye!

What makes this property unique

Everything we need is at our fingertips for a relaxing or busy day in the beautiful Smoky Mountains! From the moment you walk through the front door, there is wonderful natural light and a view of mountain foliage through the open back deck. We love the sounds of nature that surround us and there are 3 different hiking trails within walking distance from our cottage!
