About this property

Upper Saranac Lake. Beach/dock/boat ramp. King bed, pets, paddle, hike, Olympic

Your family can relax and recreate at this charming Adirondack lake community home in the woods, 24 miles from Lake Placid, between the towns of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake. Pet friendly.

Secluded private lake community with a beach, docks, boat ramp, lawn and picnic tables on Upper Saranac Lake. Power boat, paddle, sail, bike, hike, climb, ski, x-c ski, snowshoe, snowmobile.

Boat slip usually available with previous arrangement.

The space
Perched on a hill in the forest, this rustic and cozy Adirondack mid-century expanded cape style home is a 5 minute walk from the community beach and docks on the lake. A boat slip is usually available with previous arrangement.

The main floor has a large open living room/dining room/kitchen area with washer/dyer access in a closet, master bedroom, and full bath. A huge deck with gas grill and screened in porch make it perfect for entertaining the whole family. The upstairs boasts three bedrooms that share a bath, and the house is bathed in sunlight within the tree top canopy. Two of the bedrooms are "semi-private". If you MUST work, the upstairs bedroom/office desk lets your spread out, and get it done in the natural light. A second desk and community dining table on the main floor provide more than enough space for productivity.

Winter time: The Lake House is on a hill with a considerable driveway and we never know how much snow we're going to get in the winter, so if you are visiting in the winter you will need a Four Wheel Drive Vehicle and boots and/or Yak Trax! There are pictures in the listing. It is usually plowed in the winter, but is in a very remote location. Worst case scenario may require walking the driveway until plowman can arrive. Please CONTACT US with any questions.

Camera (motion activated, no sound) on the front of the house is aimed at the driveway so that we may monitor the snow/condition, safety, and pass-ability of the driveway.

Be advised: This camp is deep in the woods. You may see signs of Moose, mice, bears and bugs. We have hummingbirds just off the back deck, and a chipmunk who comes and visits on the deck. The house is on a hill surrounded by tall trees. If this is too rustic for your style, you may choose a home in a more civilized setting! Most of our guests love it for it's rustic authentic ADK setting, but you must make your decision knowing that this is a rustic forest setting in a beautiful lake community. Also, while your pets are welcome, (and loved) at our home and on our property, they are NOT allowed on community property, particularly at the beach.

Guest access
Guests have the use and exclusive access to the entire main house including 4 bedrooms, two baths, open kitchen/dining room/living room, Open deck and screened in porch, and unfinished basement main access with water toys and second refrigerator.

The community waterfront is a 1 minute drive, or 4 minute walk away, or bike. Guests have use of the beach, lounge chairs, picnic tables, docks, boat ramp, and two fire pits: one at the community beach, and one off the deck at the home. A boat slip is available with prior arrangement, 19' maximum length, NO pontoon boats (TOO wide).

Other things to note
This home is close to the western access to the Adirondack High Peaks region for hiking and climbing, and endless lakes and rivers to explore by paddle, sail, or power boat. Winter sports include skiing, x-country, snowshoe, and snowmobile.

Just 24 miles away is Lake Placid, home of "The Miracle on Ice", and all of the 1980 Winter Olympic Sports Venues for the upcoming SIU World University Winter Games, and countless World Cup Tour Competitions.

The property is on a very steep hill but being able to back up to the back porch was helpful for loading and unloading. Very nice place for the 8 of us. We were comfortable there.

House was large enough for everyone to feel comfortable, especially when my older sister's family visited for lunch. The office space was especially good for my daughter -in-law working remotely. I loved the wooded area but I missed time on the lake. Always love the Adirondack mountains.

This was a perfect spot for our Adirondack get-away. The house was private, but had access to a wonderful community beach on a pristine lake. The house had everything we needed, right down to the marshmallows and chocolate for s'mores. Bruce was a very responsive and accommodating host, and we will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful week. The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed using the canoe and kayak. It was just a short walk away. The kitchen set up made it very easy to cook and the cabin was comfortable. There were great hikes nearby too. Bruce could not have been easier to communicate with, and was always available to answer any questions.

Fishing HQ

The cabin was clean, check-in was easy, and Bruce was a bounty of information on the area. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. My father and I rented this cabin as a base of Operations for our yearly ADK fishing trip. The cabin is within 10-20 mins driving of several bodies of water as well provides access to a community beach/launch right on Upper Saranac Lake 1-2mins down the road. It was a great place to return to after a day on the water.

College graduation

The home was inviting and comfortable. All the accommodations that we needed. But, we were not prepared for the location and the steps! Most of our people were seniors who have limited mobility. I think you should make a note of this on your listing. Thank you for sharing your house.

Great time

We had a wonderful time at Bruce’s retreat. It was a perfect Autumn leaf season weekend. It did rain and snow the entire weekend, but sitting by the fire inside was a nice break. House was well-appointed, clean and Bruce was as an excellent host.

Excellent peaceful cabin getaway

We enjoyed our short stay at the property. It’s very quiet, no service but the WiFi works great. The property is very wooded and hilly with not a lot of flat grounds so important to consider for kids/pets/limited mobility persons but we enjoyed the peace and privacy. We had all the amenities we needed and it is a quick 15-20 minutes from shops or adventures. The owner is very communicative and ensured we had everything we needed.

Nice host. Very clean. I am still am amazed how very clean the place is. I often notice beach or woodsy rentals are just fine clean - but I can still feel dirt or sand underfoot. It's just life in nature. I like to go barefoot and noticed right away that all the floors were great. It wasn't until we had two 6 year olds visit two days in that I noticed anything (yeah - it was their cheerios). One bedroom downstairs with lots of drawer space and some hanging space. It was easy to unpack. Three upstairs sleeping areas with plenty of floor space and some drawer space for your stuff as well.Plenty of nice towels. AC unit downstairs plus some fans kept us comfortable when it hit 90 degrees. There are a lot of outlets so moving fans around or plugging in gadgets was easy. The kitchen is a nice size. Good appliances. All the dishes and utensils and such you would need.I recommend this place and I expect we will go back as we like this general area. On, and the Sekon community beach area was a hit for the kids on a day off from canoeing. Bruce is very nice and wants the trip to go well. He answered texts pretty quickly, left great notes, and checked in on occasion to see that all was well.

Great house for a mountain vacation

We enjoyed our stay here with friends and our dog. We went Canoeing all day and enjoyed our evenings at the house either by the fire pit area outside or playing games inside. The house is up a very steep hill and is surrounded by woods. We enjoyed the deck and screened-in porch. The owner Bruce was very friendly and checked in with us every couple of days. We chose this location because it's in close vicinity to the Fish Creek Campground and Saranac Lake and also Lake Placid. We had a great stay here.

Peaceful camp in the woods

We had a fantastic stay. Owner was kind, responsive, and really went out of his way to make sure we had a good time. House is well-appointed and comfortable. The screened in porch was my favorite spot, especially with the hummingbirds flitting around. Looks like there are also some upgrades planned, which will make it even nicer. We mostly hiked — short drives to a number of trailheads; also close to towns of Tupper and Saranac Lake. We used the canoe and kayak a couple of times — boats are at the community beach/dock an easy 1/4 mi walk down from the camp. Would stay again.

Great house for Adirondack stay

We had a family gathering, and Bruce's house was perfect for that. Large and comfortable common area and dining area, nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Large screened in back deck, saw lots of hummingbirds feeding on the Bee Balm! Very nice beach area, we used the canoe and kayaks. Bruce is very responsive and generous with his time. Great location for touring some Adirondack highlights.

A nice retreat in the woods

Very nice cabin in the woods near Upper Saranac. The rental was clean, fully outfitted, and quite cozy. Great spot to stay for a small gathering of friends and family. Location is great - just 15 minutes from the towns of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake. Access to the lake takes some logistics/maneuvering, but it is a short walk. What stood out most was the communication with the host - it was excellent. Within hours of booking, we had communication that remained thorough and transparent and constant, but never pushy or claustrophobic. We appreciate all the work done by this host to create a lovely space and give their guests an enjoyable experience.

Nice secluded spot

Bruce was great to work with. The house was ready for us, and despite a lot of snow just before our arrival, Bruce had the driveway plowed and clean. The driveway is pretty steep so 4wd is recommended in the winter. Cool house with a lot of charm.

Excellent house on the lake

The lake is amazing and only a short walk from the house. Lots of great hikes within 30 minutes and now a new bike rail trail between Saranac and Lake Placid that will be extended through Tupper Lake next year, Bruce was super accommodating and helpful with info. When his canoe had a leak, he quickly got us access to another one. The house is as it appears in the photos. Clean and plenty of room for our family of four. Nice screened in porch and fire pit. Privacy, but also lots of friendly neighbors not too far away. We had a few days of rain and did one of the jigsaw puzzles. We are considering coming back next summer.

Lovely vacation at Saranac Lake

We decided to go to the Adirondacks for our annual "girls trip." We really enjoyed our stay at the house. It is an easy walk to the shared beach on Upper Saranac Lake. Central location: we went to the Wild Center, The Adirondack Experience, and especially enjoyed the Raquette River Brewery in Tupper Lake. There was plenty of room for 5 of us, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked as it is his family's vacation home. The well water was cold and refreshing. The screened in porch was nice; we didn't use the firepit as it was black fly season. The hot tub was under repair. The host was very responsive; and questions we had were answered quickly. We are already talking about returning next year.
