Clad in black ship lap and stone, High Barn is reminiscent of the vintage barns found scattered across the Suffolk countryside in England, while the open and modern interiors give the relaxed Cali vibe and the clean lines offer Scandinavian simplicity.
May through October (weather permitting) enjoy the (24 by 48) heated pool in complete privacy. Eat Al fresco at the large outdoor dining table or sip cocktails poolside at the comfy outdoor lounge. In cooler months sit by the fire pit and enjoy a hot toddy!
All five bedrooms feature super comfy, king size beds with memory foam mattresses and smart TV's. Three bedrooms open onto the pool deck. All three bathrooms offer oversized showers, with the master also featuring a huge free standing tub with mountain views! Each and every bedroom offers stunning views from large architectural windows.
There is a spacious lounge in the main living area with an open wood burning fire, perfect for relaxing with your morning coffee or a pre-dinner cocktail. An additional lounge offers a down-stuffed sectional, large TV and a freestanding Swedish fireplace. If you want to get your Netflix fix then relax in the media room offering 6 reclining movie seats and several plush beanbags for your ultimate viewing pleasure. The home showcases some wonderful art from around the world, including many large abstract pieces painted by the home owner who is an abstract artist.
The property is situated in glorious countryside. Approx. 20 mins to UVA and 25 to Downtown and less than 10 minutes to many vineyards and breweries this area is so well known for.
Main Street, with its renowned restaurants and bars is around 25 minutes drive. King Vineyards with their seasonal Sunday polo matches is less than 8 minutes drive. Veritas, Pippin Hill and so many more vineyards and Breweries are within 10-15 minute drive.
So whether you are here for a family gathering, mom's weekend, attending a wedding or UVA event- there is so much to experience and it is all close by.
There is also plenty of land for ball games and a large fire pit for roasting smores.

High Barn is newly built and available for select rentals, but we have hosted two previous homes in the area boasting 5 star reviews (more than 90) and many repeat guests. Our family love to travel and we understand what makes a home a special place to stay.
High Barn is our family's full-time home and WE DO NOT offer/permit events or parties.
Property Owners may reside on site during rentals in private owner's cottage with separate entrance and grounds. As your hosts we will give complete privacy and allow you to enjoy the property without interruption.
Our maximum guest policy is 10 people which includes both adults and children and no additional people are to be included or invited to the property at any time during your stay. Whilst on over 21 acres, we expect all guests to be mindful of their activities and actions so as not to cause disturbance to neighbors or our family, at any time day or night. Our couches are not for sleeping and so we ask that you only sleep on the beds provided.
We also advise that all guests consider taking a travel insurance policy to protect against any unforeseen circumstances that could result in a need to cancel their stay. It helps to safeguard your trip by adding protection for delays, interruptions and cancellations. Travel insurance can be purchased when you pay for your booking through VRBO site. You can also find a different policy provider that suits your needs. Our Cancellation policy is firm.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:
Q: If I have a small group can I get a discount because we won't be using all 5 bedrooms?
A: We do not reduce the rate for smaller groups. The house is prepared and vacated for your reservation and it makes no difference to the owners whether you use all five bedrooms or not.
Q: I know you say no events, but if I am having a very small wedding can I rent your home?
A: We cannot host events of any nature. We would require an events license and we do not wish to have events at the home. We want it to be used as a residence only.
Q: We are coming to Charlottesville for a bachelorette weekend, can we rent your home?
A: We are happy to rent our home to a group who are here to celebrate an upcoming wedding so long as the celebration portion is off site. We do not want any late night partying or loud music at the home. We host lots of ladies groups, but we do ask that you do not plan any events or festivities at the property that could disturb us or our neighbors.
Q: Can we have friends/family visit us during our stay?
A: We have a strict policy of 10 guests maximum at all times. This means that if your group has 10 guests you may not invite additional people to the property, even if they are not staying the night. If you have less than 10, we are happy for you to have people up to the maximum amount to come and visit during your stay. Please communicate with us about any additional people who are not booked in as overnight house guests. Please be mindful of the maximum number of cars (5).
Q: We have more than 10 people in our group, can we have additional guests if they provide their own bedding?
A: No, our maximum is set at 10 as we have 5 king beds and house systems are set up to support this number of users at any one time.
Q: My dog is really well behaved can you make an exception to your no pet rule?
A: Many of us have beloved dogs and we understand it can be difficult to find the right place for them when we travel. However, our no pet policy is strict so we do ask that you respect that and find your dog a happy place to be while you stay in our home.
