About this property

The Hoggtown Hideaway

Hoggtown Hideaway provides the perfect tranquility you need after a long day. Featuring a garden room with a hammock and lots of windows, it is a very peaceful spot.

Only 1.8 miles from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and 4 miles from both Shands and NFRMC. The house sits in the host's childhood neighborhood. Enjoy the convenience of being tucked away in a bubble of good old fashion neighborhood charm.

Ideal for 1-2 people, spend your afternoon with a good book or use the Hideaway as base as you explore Gainesville and/or local springs/trails/parks. This is by far, my most favorite space! If you've had an adventurous day & come home late, the courtyard is lit after dark. At bed time, pull the blackout curtains and nestle under the quilts. When you wake, the coffee and tea area is stocked and ready. We provide creamer and sugar to get you started.

We hope we've thought of everything but please let us know if you need more than the following:

The television is a 65” smart TV. We have an antenna but do not offer cable. Feel free to log into your own streaming services. We hope you enjoy the many choices offered by this “way-smarter-than-me” TV! If you’re looking for a special live athletic event, we suggest Gator Dockside right around the corner! Try the wings!

Your driveway is on the right side of the front yard. We ask that you park either facing window, which is the hammock room, or on the right between the house and fence, facing the gate.

Quiet neighborhood and very walkable. Walk your family to the park, to the woods, to the stadium or even to dinner!

Ride share services like Uber are available as well as public transportation. There is a bus stop at the end of the block. If you’re headed a little further to explore local springs or adventure farther to theme parks, Hwy441 and I-75 are easily accessible from the house.

Hoggtown Hideaway is an attached suite connected to The Gator Getaway, also a short term rental. Your living space, parking and yard are private. The only space you share is the curb.

Lastly, if bringing a third person, the bed and pull-out couch share the same room. More adventurous sleepers can "crash" on the futon or hammock in the garden room.
We ask that you treat the house and neighborhood with respect.

No smoking or vaping inside or on the premises.
Parties will not be tolerated.
Only registered guests permitted.

For families bringing pets, we welcome 2 canines for the one $65 pet fee. You may request approval for additional pets. Unapproved pets will result unfavorably. We request & appreciate that you pick up poops. This provides a more sanitary yard for all our guests.

With all that said, ultimately, we ask you enjoy and make great memories while you’re here!

Lovely Stay

The space is clean and beautiful and centrally located, the bedroom is spacious and has black out curtains, and the entire home gets great light throughout the day. Also, the hosts are responsive. Would stay here again.

Comfortable hideaway near everything

Lisa's place had everything I needed for comfortable stay, including a well-stocked kitchen, bathtub and couch for lounging. Communication was prompt and I felt well looked after. A great place to stay if you enjoy privacy, but want convenience too!

Beautiful, peaceful Hideaway!

Stayed more than two months in this real gem in central Gainesville, quietly hidden away and yet most convenient to University of Florida and Gainesville’s wealth of conveniences, sites, shopping, and dining. Hospitality from the property manager was exemplary, from response to property issues to flexibility with my rental arrangements. I give my highest recommendation for customer service and convenience.

Sun and solitude

The pictures matched. Check in and check out was quick and easy. Communication with the owner was clear and quick. The area is nicely secluded and was pretty quiet for the weekend of Gator Nationals while being close to major shopping areas for groceries, food, etc. When I have more time and a less solemn reason to visit, I definitely would stay here again and bring my mom back too.

Last minute stay

We decided to spend the weekend in Gainesville less than 24 hours prior to our arrival. Lisa worked with me and the VRBO site to book our stay. The home was was suitable for our family of three and the courtyard gave our two small dogs a place to roam. We didn't use the kitchen, but the bathroom was well-supplied.

Hidden gem

We weren't in town for football, which is apparently a big deal in that neck of the woods, but it was a perfect location to commute to a music festival in Reddick. Nestled in a very quiet neighborhood but less than 10 minutes from any major shopping/restaurant you would need. It was too hot to enjoy the courtyard but I'm sure it would be great in the fall.

Two day stay

Nice place close to Gator football. Initially parked in drive but large ant pile found while unloading. Lots of yard debris out back but understandable from Hurricane that had just pasted. Entered to find nice accommodations. Walked through some spider webs in the kitchen but place was clean and quaint. I think normal price for stay said 160ish. During football though it was a minimum of two days and cost about 2500 with fees so that was a little outrageous. It was nice to have a place close by the stadium.

So charming, you’ll never want to leave!

Due to Hurricane Milton, my pets and I were displaced for over a month. I could not have had a more enjoyable time making the most of what could’ve been far more stressful. With all the special touches, like an inside hammock, beautiful houseplants, and twinkling lights, I felt like I was living in a Hallmark movie. Coworkers even thought my real background was virtual because it’s such a charming spot!It’s nestled in a super cute, mid-century neighborhood very close to UF, local trails, and restaurants. Above all, Lisa was an incredible host and she goes above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your stay, even adding a fire pit to make our Gainesville winter a little warmer. We will be back and I have told all my friends they must stay here when in town for games!

A great place to settle and recharge

I came down for the month of March to join my horses who shipped to Ocala in January. I needed a place where I could efficiently work remotely, a yard for my westie to play in, a kitchen to cook and not need to go out all the time, and a safe and chill location. The Hideaway was all of these things and more. Equally important was the the attentiveness and kindness of the host, Lisa. Top ratings across the board! I have never been away from home or my husband for so long, and where I stayed was going to be a huge factor on whether the experience was a success or not, and I am happy to say it was absolutely fabulous! <3 Cole

No heat. Host did not tell us about portable heaters stored in laundry room. No way to contact her. Very cold first night. Bed had thin covering. Next day we found extra blankets in a basket. Again, host did not advise us of blankets. Again, no way to contact host. Second night we used the portable heaters, but electricity went out when we tried to use the microwave. Gas stove barely had a flame. .Again no way to contact host.this place was so miserable that we cut our stay short and returned home a day early.
