We liked how the place had been renovated, and enjoyed the local artist touch. The deck is well-furnished with table and chairs and outdoor sofa/loveseat/ chair. Our two dogs had plenty of room to run- we hooked them up to a 50-ft leash but it’s a quiet road and seems pretty safe for them. Inside the beds are comfy, there were A/C units, and the kitchen modern and well equipped. We were there in the summer, and the vegetation is lush and the temperatures 10-15 F cooler than the DC area. Mostly the surrounding areas had few tourists, surprising given how beautiful the area is. We enjoyed hiking in the Dolly Sods, Canaan Valley park, Seneca Rocks, and Blackwater park. Great house and area!
It was awesome. Loved the location and place was well stocked and you can tell a lot of love went into the house. We had some issues with the icy driveway but the owners provided rock salt which helped a lot
We loved the place. Perfect for our family of 4 plus little pups. Everything you need in kitchen and warm comfortable beds. Remodel looks great with charm of the older home.
Sheets were clean. Perfect location for my party.Overall it was as if somebody had left months ago and turned the key. The dryer was stuffed full of laundry. (Not ours!) . We don’t mind a homely place with a few cobwebs, but these and their inhabitants had been there ages! The bathroom was alive! The kitchen did not feel clean at all. Dirty cabinets, finger prints on the fridge. I opened the lazy Susan in order to seek out another cutting board, it was packed with food. While I did not forage, right at the very front was a bag of burger buns, which was completely fusty black/grey… ughh,, The food stuffs in the fridge I would never touch, the whole back of the door was stocked with open “things”the butter was open and in the middle of being used. The floors weren’t particularly clean, but the beds and pillows comfortableThe funny thing was , we were reading “the guest handbook” toward the end it had a very comprehensive list as to what the housekeeper should be doing between guests. Whoever the housekeeper is,,,, it’s not being done !!!We also did not like the message in the same book requesting that guests leave no less than a 5 star review as it affects the owners rating !

Hi Angela! The message in our guest handbook says that if your stay doesn't merit a 5 star review, please reach out and let us know. We would have happily sent the cleaning crew back through and returned your cleaning fee if you'd informed us of any issue.
We've heard from many guests that they appreciate that we stock extra food staples like spices and condiments, sorry you did not feel that way.
Great cabin for a nice weekend getaway! We'll be back next January for more fun. Excellent host, clean, and had everything we needed. Even the dogs had a great time. 👍
We had a great stay!! Love the cottage. Had everything you needed. We will be back. Love it because we could bring our fur babies!! They loved it too!! The bed was amazing!!!
This was just what we were looking for! Relaxed and comfortable spot close to hiking destinations. Big bonus that it was pet friendly. Nice yard with a fire pit and the stream was lovely. We saw lots of birds including Cedar Waxwings on the property. Friendly hosts and the rental process was clear and easy.
Came here for the nearby skiing. Even though on a back road, the plows came thru regularly to keep the roads clear, and after a lot of snow one night the owners sent folks to clear the private driveway before mid morning. The house is just like the listing photos. It felt more like staying at a clean, comfortable friend’s place rather than just a rental. Lots of pet friendly things (dog bowls, treats). And many thoughtful things you don’t always see: room-darkening curtains in the bedrooms (that is SO RARE in a rental), nightlights in the bathrooms, lots of hooks behind bedroom and bath doors, a decent snow shovel and porch broom, throw blankets on the couches, a fabulous, extensive game selection, a smart TV and WiFi, comfortable beds and pillows, and decent comforters. The listing said no mention of smoke detectors. There are installed properly working smoke detectors in every room (no they did not go off, but all had proper green lights on).The area is exceptionally quiet and beautiful, yet minutes from the ski areas. Highly recommend.
It was a really cute small house that was very comfortable. The beds were great as were the quality linens and towels. The property looked wonderful although we were not able to really use it because of the rainy weather. The location was perfect for where we wanted to visit. The drive in to the house was just lovely and we enjoyed the cows! Plenty of quality condiments in the refrigerator and cabinets and very nice shower and bath products. Our only wish is that the fridge had a better seal to keep items colder and that more of the windows had functioning screens. I enjoy fresh air esp. at night, but was hesitant to use open windows with no sceens in place. Hope to be able to stay here again!

We're glad you enjoyed the cabin! There are pop in screens in each room in the house. Next time, if you have questions about something just email and we will respond right away. Hope to see you again!
The house was great! It had all the kitchen, essentials and dog essentials. The property is just as described and even more beautiful in person! Hope to be back there again some day!
