Cozy place in a cute town. Very comfortable place with full kitchen, comfortable beds and good living/dining. We just had 3 people, so plenty of room. Hosts were helpful and very responsive. Easy walk to anywhere in town.
Colter's Cabin was a great place to stay in Cooke City in May 2026 for a family trip with five adults and two kids. This was the first of three locations for a Yellowstone/Grand Tetons trip for us. The location is very convenient; gorgeous views, noise was never an issue, and it was super quick to get into the park! The kitchen was fully equipped, and we had everything we needed to cook a couple of meals. The non-stick pans were in great condition for scrambled eggs lol! I've stayed at places with crummy cookware, but not here! Hot water never ran out, and internet was fast. The big TV was great to relax and watch a movie before bed. Now, Cooke City in May might be an issue for some. This is a little place, and mid-May is in between the snow season and summer. Not much is open other than the gas stations and maybe one burger place and a coffee shop. We actually like it like that, and we picked up most of our groceries from Bozeman and found anything else we needed at the local gas stations' convenience stores. The location was so good for getting into Lamar Valley early to do some hiking and wildlife watching (I saw a wolf!). Between Cooke City, Jackson, and West Yellowstone, this is the place I'd like to come back to the most, and I'd be glad to stay in Colter's Cabin again if I do!
Easy to find. Nice location. Had a book laying out the dos and donts, which was nice. Lots of space. Had shampoo, hand soap, washer drier….all the comforts of home.
We had a lovely stay at this property. It is close to YNP and Beartooth Pass, and the view from the house is awesome. Everything we needed was at the house, except the groceries which we bought and brought with us. The town is adorable. My kids enjoyed walking down to get coffees and delicious treats from the shops right down the street. I would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our second stay here with family and friends from June 5-9. The location and property are the perfect getaway to Yellowstone for us. The house is well stocked for your every need and within walking distance to restaurants, gas stations and souvenir shopping. We enjoyed sitting on the front deck and the side yard for Happy Hour. We hope to be back sooner than later. Thank you Lindsey and Travis!
We enjoyed our stay at Colter’s cabin. It was in a great spot in reference to Yellowstone. It had everything we needed in the kitchen for dinners and plenty of linens for our big family. The host was quick to respond to any questions. We loved the fire pit out back.
My husband and I met two other couples and one 6 year old. The cabin was the perfect fit for our crew. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and the proximity to the park and outdoor space added the perfect elements to our stay. We were able to get in and out of the park easily and really maximize our time together instead of spending time in traffic to get in and out of the park. The Hemingway bar and museum in Silver Gate was also a great find! We will book this place again next year!
We had a group of eight, staying here. The place was well-stocked with supplies. There is a smoker and two grills in back with a great fire pit. This place served out purpose well and we would stay here again.
