About this property

You Found Your Own private Beach!

Accommodations:

The entire house is air conditioned. The third bedroom containing three (3) queen beds, is our VIP bedroom, with its exquisitely decorated master bath, a large tub, a glass enclosed shower, both with an ocean views.

The private beachfront pool area and tiki bar are right out of a dream! With a full bathroom including a shower located behind the Tiki Bar, as well as an outside shower protruding from a tree trunk by the pool.

This is truly paradise, one of the few areas of Costa Rica that is unspoiled and still untouched much by tourism. A place where you feel time has stood still. Just look at the actual photos of the beach or what could be “your beach” while staying at our property! As depicted in the photos, the tropical palm fringed beach of silver brown sand sits on a cove that is separated by two distinctly different rivers which are within walking distance.

The beach has a gentle rolling surf, safe for swimming without the concern of rip tides.

You should take a stroll to the river towards the north of the property in the morning, as the tide is going out, you can sit in the shallow portion of such and feel the natural Jacuzzi refresh your body!!

You can laze in the hammocks, soak up some sun or shade, read a book or just plain relax! Wildlife is abundant around the immediate area, as the property is surrounded by a rain forest.

Just take a moment and glance through the reviews. The words of those that have Enjoyed Rancho Rachmare weight substantially more than anything we can say in our ad.

Yes there are “cheaper” places to rent, but you will not find the Luxury, Convenience, Amenities and Privacy that we offer at Rancho Ramar.

Just one of many “aaahs” is our private beachfront pool and Tiki Bar that is there for you to enjoy privately with your family and/or guests.

All this paradise is enjoyed in a luxury style air conditioned house with its “ensuite” style bedrooms containing “California” style closets and private bathrooms as well as any amenity you can think of!

If you are looking for a crowded and complicated venue, look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a serene, tranquil and private beach vacation……Rancho RachMare is the choice.

We provide a daily “light”housekeeping service that includes “light cleaning” of the kitchen (no pots, pans or dishwashing), the dining and living room as well as all of the bathrooms. Light cleaning of all bedrooms to include linen change (in the middle of each seven (7) day stay and change of bath and pool towels every other day, at no charge.

Total housekeeping service (up to 4 hours daily) May be purchased directly with our housekeeper for $100 weekly.

Additionally, our Innkeepers can provide a entire array of amenities, e.g., cooking additional meals, making sure the house is stored with all your groceries when you arrive, massages, procuring horses to be brought to the property, fishing trips, etc., at a cost negotiated directly with them.

There are restaurants nearby that offer catering. The cross roads of San Francisco de Coyote (just eight (8) kilometers away) offer two small, but nicely stocked stores. At the other end of the cove, you can sometimes visit the local fishermen and purchase freshly caught fish.

Guide services, horseback touring and local fishing charters are available.

We are also able to provide transportation from any Costa Rican Airport, our goal is to make your trip as simple or as eloquent as you wish! Just ask!!

THANK YOU-Jose Luis and Susan

Best house ever!

Had the best time ever!!!! We loved the house. The best location ever. You have your own beach! There is also a river to the right of the property... someone can bring you surf boards or horses to the beach. We got massages from the place next door as well.

A lovely house on a perfect beach.

3 couples enjoyed a fun week at Rancho Ramar! The house is well situated, right on Playa Coyote where we enjoyed hours of walking and swimming on this beautiful, long quiet beach. The house is spacious and comfortable and the pool a nice size and well kept by the house manager, Pilo. He sourced us fresh fish and boogie boards and even opened fresh coconuts, providing an unending supply of coconut water. Thank you Jose for sharing your paradise with us!

Once again, a perfect place to get away and relax

It was great to be back to this wonderful private resort. When we look at our pictures , it almost seems like a dream that we were actually here for a week! The photos on the listing do not do justice to the beauty of this property. The pool area is incredible, swimming , relaxing , eating at the tiki bar, all while enjoying the sound of the surf. The hammocks in the palm trees are the best place to read and nap. The beach is perfect for playing in the waves and is so uncrowded , most of the time there is none else to be seen. We had Noylin prepare a few meals for us , we highly recommend her cooking. Also recommend the fresh fish and shrimp. The owner is super nice to work with and was very attentive to our needs. Thanks, Joe for another wonderful stay.

Paradise

This is our second stay at Rancho Ramar (this year for one glorious month) and it did not disappoint! The service from Zeidy, Henry & Jennifer cannot be overstated, they are so professional, friendly and kind. Having staff on site one might think you would lack privacy; to the contrary our privacy was well respected and when needed the staff were instantly available. Rancho Ramar has become our second home and it feels like it! We have already booked our stays for 2024 & 2025. The beach is virtually deserted, fishing & surfing were fantastic and local restaurants & activities (GO TO THE JUNGLE BUTTERFLY FARM!) were just the quality & pace we were looking for. If what you want is to unwind and take in Costa Rica Rancho Ramar is just what you need! Can’t wait to return! Thank you for sharing your piece of Paradise with us Jose!

Everything we hoped for

We had a fantastic trip, the homeowners communication is excellent and his advise and tips were very useful throughout the trip especially prior to arriving to the home. The house itself is incredible! the inn keepers are very nice despite the fact that they speak no english we did manage to get most information across. The surf is great! the seclusion was what we were looking for to get away from it all and this house delivers. The roads are excitingly rediculous, only rent an SUV as a car will get you nowhere. We chose to tour the peninsula coast as it is beautiful and the 4x4 was a must. Beach is very secluded, we certainly did see other people but you will not find a north american beach that size and that nice and that vacant anywhere! It was a great trip.

Once again, a unbelievable time!

This was our third stay at this amazing property, but our first stay in the big house, and it was amazing. The house is so spacious and beautifully appointed. Gourmet kitchen(we did our own cooking), gorgeous floors, tremendous oceanfront views, the whole package. The beautifully landscaped outside pool area is perfect for relaxing in the lounges , bird watching( a pair of wrens were building a nest in the palm tree by the pool) ,swimming , or grilling at the tiki bar. The beach is so deserted , its almost like having your own private beach. We did see some other people from time to time, but the beach is huge, so there is plenty of room. The waves and water temp are perfect. We drove to Samara( a beautiful 1 hr drive) for zip lining one day, and had a great time. Just again had a wonderful, wonderful time at this superb property. Hope to return someday The owner is so friendly and great to work with, he strives to please. Thanks again Joe for making this property available!

Everything it claims to be, and more!

Upon arrival, we were stunned by the beauty and craftsmanship of this home. The pool, the location, the grounds were all perfect. The beach was all our own, even though we came during peak Spring Break season. The restaurants close by were all wonderful. I cannot say enough about the service. Zeidy prepared all of our meals and even grocery shopped for us for a very reasonable cost. Her husband, Henry, was ultra accommodating as well. He took our family to meet the fishing boat, picked us up, helped us get in to our coconut and so much more. By the end of the week, Zeidy, Henry and their daughter were not just service providers, but also our friends. Jose, the owner, was helpful from the time we booked our home until the time our vacation was over. We have never had a more relaxing, but adventurous vacation. Be sure to check out the areas and beaches around Playa de Coyote, as well as the roads that lead inland. What a beautiful, awe-inspiring place!

Most Beautiful Beach Ever!

Our party of 11 stayed here for 4 nights. This house is amazing! We had pool parties in the wonderful pool and tiki bar. At night we were entertained by the crabs and frogs in the yard. There were monkeys in the trees across the street! During the day we could wander on the beach, finding pretty shells and giant sand dollars. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets in the evening on the beach. The location is remote but well worth the extra effort to get there. Despite the remoteness there are high quality restaurants not far from the house, it is just important to confirm they are open before you head out. This is also the best service I have ever received from a host. There are care takers on site eager to fulfill your every need. We expressed a want for boogie and surf board rental and they made it happen within an hour. If you are on the fence with this property, just go for it!

Once again, a memorable time!

This was our 4th stay at this property and as usual, words fail me in describing this super amazing , fantastic, unbelievable place, your own little slice of paradise. We had stayed at Samara for 2 nights prior to arriving here and there is no comparison. Coyote beach is usually deserted, cleaner, and the waves are better for surfing. If you're looking for the party scene and crowded beaches, then stay at Samara. What you will find here is peaceful relaxation in a gorgeous setting. Sometimes we would just sit and marvel that we had this beachfront resort all to ourselves. The house is so beautiful ,spacious and well equipped . The pool area is fantastic, the palm trees are growing nicely for some shade while relaxing in the lounge chairs. The beach front with the palm trees and hammocks is soooo relaxing. We were comparing pictures from 4 years ago when were first there and, wow, the palm trees have really grown. Pilo was able to procure some boogie boards for our use which was great fun. Thanks again ,Jose , hopefully we can come back another time, we just don't get tired of this place!

Perfect beach and spacious beautiful house

The house is all that is pictured and more! Lots of space and wonderful location -- beautiful secluded sandy beach just on the otherside of the gate. The furnishings and kitchen are well appointed, comfortable and well designed. Great outdoor furniture, including patio and deck ceiling fans that really helped with the bugs. This is the place for a quiet restful vacation -- as advertised, there's not much around (restaurants, stores, etc). Caretakers were helpful driving us to dinner and the nearby grocery. Bathrooms are beautiful (although no AC) and hot water is SLOW (like 10 minutes) to the master bath and kitchen (felt bad wasting soooo much water). Would note that the beds are DOUBLES not Queens. Two "cons" are easily rectified: 1. some maintenance issues -- broken faucet in masterbath, malfunctioning ceiling fans (told new ones on order) 2. House is difficult to find based on the info given for check in; a map would be helpful since it's an unnamed road. Would also note that you need to bring EVERYTHING -- coffee, tea, shampoo, soap, sugar, spices etc. Dish and hand soap is all that's provided.

Superb house, wonderful holiday.

As other comments has pointed out getting to the property is not easy. I recommend a SUV although I had no trouble getting there in a Yaris if you go slow and carefully. Depending what route you take you may need to cross a river that can be tricky if it has rained recently. That is where the complaining stops and is not really complaining as the difficulty to arrive makes the beach secluded compared to other places in Guanacaste. Being rainy season we had the whole beach practically to ourselves. The house is incredible. It is not the usual beach house in Costa Rica but a piece of Florida transported to a spot of natural beauty. I'm still trying to figure it out how they got all the bits there, including a rustic decoration that matches perfectly. The house has everything you may need (we didn't see a microwave but we didn't miss it and you probably get it if you ask the guard). The pool and the pool area are as good as shown in the pictures, the air conditioning is a bless in this climate. The beach is IN the house. We spend a wonderful time there (too short) and will probably go back as soon as we can.

Beautiful Property. An unforgettable experience!

Our trip to Coyote was amazing. The property was beautiful, the pool and tiki were great. We had an issue with some ants here and there, nothing a little extra bug spray couldn't fix. The TV and oven was messed up, but Joe said it's getting fixed next month, so it shouldn't be a problem in the future. Any other problems we had we asked the inn keeper Luis or sent an email to Joe and he took care of it. Luis was always out keeping the property looking beautiful. It was very secluded and quiet besides the sounds of howler monkys in the morning and ocean waves at night, which one cannot complain about. The house got warm inside, especially at night (in July) so if you don't like the heat, rent the big house with the AC. On average there were only about 3 to 5 people on the beach all day. Watching the waves break in the tiki bar at dinner was awesome, and then going for a night swim made for some great times. We traveled to Smara, Islita, Curu, and other cities, which I would recommend doing. Everything is a few hours away, but it's all worth being so secluded in the jungle of Coyote. I would also recommend staying here and I too plan to one day return to Coyote and rent this place again. It was well worth the experience.

ABSOLUTE PARADISE!

We spent 3 weeks at Rancho Ramar and in a word it was enchanting! We were a group of as many as 9 adults, both family & friends. The home is spacious, well appointed & luxurious. No detail has been overlooked. Many in our group needed to work while on vacation & the space & Wifi allowed us to do that without so much as a hiccup. Sadie & Henry (the caretakers) attended to our every need promptly & flawlessly. From shuttles to & from Liberia airport, to arranging horse & surf board rentals, to grocery shopping, daily cleaning, massages (oh the massages!!) & grounds/pool maintenance Sadie & Henry did it all, while respecting our privacy. The service was seamless. The entire visit was perfect in every way, we have been 5 star hosts for 7 years & have to admit our bar is pretty high, we were not disappointed by a single thing. Joe (the owner) is available & attentive should the need arise (which it rarely did). The beach is exquisite, the pool is pristine, the tiki bar was a major gathering point & the kitchen is a dream. I could go on but I suppose the best review we could provide is to say we have booked Rancho Ramar for 5 weeks next year… we are already counting down the days! Thank you Sadie, Henry, Jennifer & Joe for providing us with a much needed break from the last 2 years, it’s almost like Covid never happened!

Wonderful vacation!

Our family of 9 stayed for 10 days with ages ranging from 9-83years old. This was a mixture of adventure and relaxation all in one vacation. Zeidy, Jennifer and Henry are excellent hosts and went above and beyond for us. This is the best VRBO type vaca we’ve ever done. Jose was helpful and responsive with communications The roads are challenging at times and getting to the property is an adventure in itself. Rain makes it difficult and also driving at night adds to the challenge. Allow for extra time and if possible, use the Liberia airport. The roads are intimidating at first but this property is worth the effort of getting there. The property is so much better that the pictures. I know that’s hard to believe but it’s true. The house is well kept, spacious, has beautiful details throughout and is designed with luxury in mind. The pool is large and very nice. The beach is stunning and very secluded. There were barely any others enjoying it and most days we felt we had it to ourselves. The wildlife is abundant with many iguanas, crabs, birds, squirrels, etc. We went fishing with a local fisherman for a few hours and also went horseback riding on the beach. Zeidy helped to set everything up and also set up massages for us at the house. Zeidy is an amazing cook and we ended up staying in for every meal since we enjoyed her cooking so much. She made many authentic Costa Rican dishes which we loved! We highly recommend and hope to return in the near future!

Like an upscale resort, all to yourself!

We just spent 2 weeks at this fabulous property and I would happily give it 10 stars if I could! Inside, there's everything you need to complete your stay from a fully stocked kitchen to loads of pillows, sheets, towels and all the comforts of home. It's beautifully decorated and squeaky clean. Gorgeous! The photos truly don't do it justice! Outside, the photos tell you everything you need to know! Immaculately landscaped, large pool and spa, plenty of seats, and a great tiki hut with large BBQ for cooking. There's 2 hammocks in the palm trees just outside the fence, and an endless beach where you will only see one or two people each day. Picture perfect sunsets are a bonus! As others have mentioned, do rent a 4x4. The roads around the property and about 30-45min in each direction are challenging gravel roads, but totally worth the drive. About 10min away is the little town of Playa de Coyote, where you'll find 2 grocery stores with everything you might need, though stopping in Nicoya on the way to the property will save you some money. We went to the Pizza Tree about 10min away in Playa San Miguel and that was a real treat. Worth a try! We saw iguanas, gorgeous birds, and even a couple howler monkeys while there. Joe is so responsive and helpful. He was quick to answer all emails and provide us with any information we needed both before and during our stay. Of all the places we've rented, Joe was by far the most helpful and gracious host! Pilo, the innkeeper, was also very helpful. He doesn't speak much English (and we spoke no Spanish!) but we found that using a phone app that does translations was a very effective way to communicate! He seemed to enjoy that! Thank you Joe for making this wonderful property available. We're already planning our next trip!

perfect honeymoon destination

My husband and I looked for 3 months for a honeymoon spot. Once we settled on costa Rica, we looked at, at least, 50 different beach houses. We just kept coming back to this one, and we were not disappointed! The main house, while not completely renovated is stunning. the two beds/baths that are done are absolutely beautiful. We used the casita for our cooking needs, smaller kitchen but did its part. The oven did not work, but there is a grill so as long as you get creative you are fine. The beach was absolutely magnificent. There were barely any people on it. The first weekend we were there, we might have seen 10 people all day. It is not a touristy beach, just people who live there. If you are looking for a private spot, and don't mind seclusion, this is the perfect place. The area roads are extremely bumpy as they are dirt/ gravel roads with many pot holes. If you rent a 4x4 you are fine. Joe recommended that from the get go, and we were able to travel around no problem. There are many beaches within driving distance if you don't mind a little adventure. We were there for 10 days, practically in paradise. The inn keepers are very nice, while we did have a language barrier, anything we really needed was an email to Joe away. He was VERY responsive to our needs, and would get back to us quickly whether by email or calling the inn keepers. We were laid back, played in the waves and pool mostly. Life is "pura vida" down there. Definitely an amazing experience. If you want a house right on the beach, an amazing view and privacy this is definitely your place. We would come back in a heart beat. We decided to go out on a fishing charter for 3 hours. For those of you who have been on a charter, it is not the same experience. Just a boat, and some poles. But the views alone are well worth the money. We saw sea turtles, dolphins and many groups of fish. While we didn't catch much until the end, it was an experience we won't forget. It is truly so beautiful down in Costa Rica. If you pick this place, you will not be disappointed in the slightest!! Thanks Joe for allowing us to share in your beautiful property!!

Hate to write this review

So, you're probably wondering what went wrong to "hate" to write this review". Absolutely nothing. Rancho Ramar is a wonderful home that's actually better than what the pictures show or what the owners description depicts. The home is located right on the beach in the Costa De Oro section of Coyote. Step out of the rear door and your swimming in the beautiful pool. A few more steps your under the palm trees and about 50 or so feet later, your in the sand and a few more steps into the water. The beach is clean, long and pretty much what I think a beach should look like. Ask Pilo the caretaker, who lives with his wife in the front casita to put up the hammocks under the palm trees right at the edge of the beach, and it's heaven. As for Pilo and his wife Noylin, they live in the front Casita. Anything that needed a quick fix or help with, they were very helpful in taking care of. Pilo kept the pool and grounds clean and while we speak only a little Spanish and they only a little English, it wasn't much of a barrier. Inside, the home is beautiful. Full kitchen with just about anything you could need, AC in each room, and a great layout. Bedrooms and bathrooms, first rate. And a great outdoor Rancho. The location is remote. We knew that going in as we have previously visited the area. It's not for everyone. Anyone looking for night life or to be catered to, is missing the boat on why to come down to the Coyote area. It's a lack of those amenities that adds to the charm of Playa Coyote, Playa San Miguel and Costa de Oro. (all three beach areas that pretty much make up San Francisco De Coyote). The beaches are wonderfully uncrowded (meaning you might see 3-4 others within a mile in either direction), the local town of San Francisco De Coyote is a true Tico town with a few Expats scattered about and very few "tourists". There are limited, but enough small Tico restaurants and a couple of "higher end" restaurants, that will satisfy most people, each with their own distinctive charm and great food. Jose, the property owner was great to "do business with" as well. Communication was excellent! So why do I hate to write this review? Why would I want to share this info and find more people coming down to this special place in Costa Rica? I'd rather it stay just the way it is. For those looking to really get away from it all, but have it all, this place is for you and Rancho Ramar is great place to hang your hat for a week or more!

Beautiful House, Secluded Beach

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Jose's house from June 25 to July 1, 2014. I'll try to focus on aspects that other reviewers have missed and throw in some helpful tips. First, the house is more gorgeous than the pictures, as is the pool. The beach is awesome. During low tide the beach is enormous and great for walking, picking up shells, etc. We saw probably about 10-15 people per day, with numbers higher during the weekend days. The house is right next to a little access road and people do use it. It does cut down on privacy a bit. In terms of wildlife we met many friendly dogs on the beach, lots of crabs, birds, and iguanas. San Francisco is a great little town. It's about 10 minutes away and has 2 grocery stores and 3 restaurants (with a few others a few more miles out). The food was always very reasonably priced, especially the local products. A pineapple was about a dollar, but a box of Kellog's cereal was more like $6. Our favorite restaurant was Rio's. It opened in June of 2014 and the owner, Hector, is a great guy. He does well with English and his four year old daughter will love to talk your ear off while you eat (in Spanish). To rent this house you must be adventurous due to the drive. You then must either be content with hanging out in the area or willing to drive a long way for excursions. For example, ziplining in Nosara is about 80 km away, but a 3 hour drive each way. All in all, it was an awesome trip. Below are a few helpful tips for going to this area of Costa Rica. 1. Learn some Spanish. My wife did 3 years in high school (long time ago) and I just did all of the levels of Rosetta Stone Spanish. She said that she would have been very nervous without me there. Many people know English, but you're better off with some knowledge. The groundskeeper knows zero English. 2. Get the GPS. Essential. 3. Get the SUV. The road from Jicaral to Coyote is worse than I expected. A sedan will not do the job. The first 3.5 hours from SJO were easy...the last hour or so was brutal. 4. If flying into SJO, take route 27 to the west...much faster than route 1 through San Ramon. 5. Bring credit cards. Most places accept them and you get the best exchange rate. 6. Do not exchange money at the airport. They wanted about a 15% cut off of the top. Go to your home bank. 7. Fill up on gas in either Jicaral or Limonal area. There is no gas station around and you don't want to get stuck.

Beautiful isolated beach

Our stay was fantastic. The house is even nicer than the photos. It’s spacious with high end fixtures and steps from the ocean. It was very clean and cleaning service was very thorough. Pilo was helpful and friendly, it was a pleasure to be his neighbor for the week. We were often the only people on the beautiful beach.

Welcome to Rancho Ramar!!!

I was invited to visit Costa Rica by a friend in 1997. It was love at first sight and I soon purchased the property in 2000.

At the outset, the property had a simple beach home, which our family enjoyed for many years. We did not think of renting it at the time, because it lacked a lot of the creature comforts that renters would expect.

However, the property is now described by neighbors as “The prettiest and most luxurious property in all of Coyote and Coyote Beach”.

We welcome you to enjoy it; with its private beachfront pool and Tiki Bar area that resembles some of those found in the world’s finest resort, and the well appointed and equipped house! From the minute you set foot in our property, it will be quite clear that all of the appointments that you would expect are present.

A great advantage to renting our property is that because its primary purpose is for the enjoyment of our family and friends, no detail has been spared. You will enjoy amenities that you will not find elsewhere like beach colors and decorations, pillow top mattresses, and so much more.

Lastly, being that our family has been visiting Costa Rica for so long, we can arrange for just about anything during your stay. From horseback riding to fishing, surfboard rentals, and just about anything that you can possibly imagine or want.

Our family’s number one concern is to ensure a most memorable experience, one that you will remember all of your lives……….Of course, you can just enjoy the beach and do everything at your own pace!!!

We certainly hope that you enjoy the property as much as our family has and will for years to come!! Wishing you the best of vacations…….

Sincerely, Joe Monteagudo.
