Large cabin with all the amenities

We liked the cabin and the kitchen had everything you would need. The hot tub was nice in the early evening. The property is in a quiet area but walking distance to restaurants/bars, and a grocery store. The furniture is a little outdated but that didn't bother me too much. I would rent here again

Just a few tips

We enjoyed our stay. Spacious, and great lay out. We do not mind a place that is not upgraded or luxiurious, although the location must be clean. This place had an inch of dust everywhere. The beds nd couches were very run down. Do not think about using the pull put couch unless you don't mind sleeping on Springs. The hot tub was the highlight. Also, you must bring all your own laundry soap, extra blankets, and cleaning products. The Bare essentials are missing.

If I could give cleanliness a negative star, I would.

Getting the keys and checking in was relatively easy, but from there...everything went downhill. I have used big bear vacations before and was pleased with my stay so I expected nothing less from this trip. Unfortunately I couldn’t be more wrong. As we unpacked our things we began uncovering how filthy this place was. Sheets weren’t cleaned, pull out bed/couch was broken with dirt all over it, and dishes/cups/utensils COVERED in food and makeup. Not only was this unacceptable, but DANGEROUS considering we are in a global pandemic. After going back and forth on the phone, I was finally able to speak to a manager who got us into a different property. Im appreciative of her efforts to handle the situation accordingly, but this still put a huge damper on our trip. We had planned to go tubing the night we arrived, and instead we were stuck packing up our things and moving to a new cabin. Overall, the experience was terrible. I left feeling as though I put my family at risk when the expectation was to have a safe and fun night away in the mountains. Very disappointing and a huge waste of money.

Made the best of it.

Communication with property management was not good, first I was told there would be room to park a boat which there was absolutely none and second I was given the impression we could check in early and got there only an hour early and property was not ready. I also booked the property based on 4th of July fire works show and paid double the normal rate because it was a holiday weekend, so when fire works show was canceled due to Covid I wanted to cancel and could not. So why then should I still have to pay the Holiday weekend price, when I tried to cancel they told me they weren’t associated with the fire works show, even though they are charging double the rate because of the expected fire works show. Which to me is bad customer service. Oh and Jacuzzi was slightly green or turning green, I didn’t complain because it was already to late in day in my opinion to fix because I believe that takes a little time anyways for chemicals to work.

poorly cared for

the house was not well taken care of and the kitchen was the worst. One hand towel , no paper towels, handles on cookware were broken, no hot pads, not one baking dish, one salad bowl and we had to serve our meals out of cookware. No snow shovel and 3 hangers for 5 people who had jackets to hang and snow clothes to dry. . Not even a coat rack in the living space. Would never rent from this company again. VRBO should visit these homes they advertise more often to make sure they meet the standards we expect with VRBO.

Great little weekend escape in a cute little cabin!

My husband and I were joined by my father and stepmom for a cute little weekend away in the snow. The hot tub was a hit! We also enjoyed making one dinner in the kitchen and spent lots of time by the fireplace- even making S'mores indoors. They had a few used and destroyed kitchen items such as a wine glass and a knife so be aware (but we did let them know)...overall it was nice and clean and cozy and we would totally go back!

Just ok

Lighting out front is nearly no existent. You practically need a flashlight to get from the parking area to the front porch. Dingy carpet, very old furniture. Sofa and love seat are VERY uncomfortable. No dressers in the bedrooms. Nothing to put your luggage on, so you basically have to work out of a suitcase on the floor. Windows are old and drafty. They did not even supply a trash can or coffee filters for the coffee maker. But the price was inexpensive and the location was nice. Neighborhood was cute and quiet. The whole checking in across town thing was a bit odd. I would rather the keys be available at the property.

Cabin Rental Fix Ups

The cabin itself is quaint, however the insides leave much to be desired. There are many things that should be fixed with the cabin before renting it out to people: -The igniter in the stove does not light the propane. -There is mold growing on the drywall in the bedrooms. -There is mold growing in the bathroom near the master bathroom tub. -The DVD player remote is missing. We had to make the DVR remote work with the DVD player. -There is an obscure remote that could be for the DVD player but the battery is drained of power. -There are old hardware and holes on the wall from pre-existing curtains. (which should be there to shield from the sun in the mornings.) -The master bed is held together with nails, but not well. The framing of the bed is not even put together all the way. -The framing around the doorways seemed to be put together hastily. -There were random ants around the kitchen. We enjoyed: -The kitchen being stocked with necessary tools. -The comfort level of the beds. -The hot tub. -The comfort level of the couch. -The fireplace. Overall we had a good time. After all, it is a place to stay; we just expected better lodgings for the money we paid. The above critiques are merely suggestions for fixes.

Good tiimes

Great location to the Village and mountain. Relatively kid-proof on arrival. Appliances are older, make some noise but all function totally fine. TV does not actually work, but we did not need it, just FYI. Water heater works too well, haha, be careful in the shower! Great patio area to enjoy the snow, use the charcoal grill and 2-person hot tub. Would definitely stay here again!
