About this property
Yosemite's Cottage at Creek View Ranch - 30 Acres with Pond, Trails, & Wildlife
The Cottage at Creek View Ranch... only 50 minutes from the gates of Yosemite National Park - wake up to the peacefulness of this remote and serene 30 acre property with a cup of coffee from the local roaster, travel to Yosemite for the day, stay and play in fun of the outdoors, or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine from one of the local wineries. Only 15 minutes from charming Downtown Mariposa. Plenty of space for your family to experience the beauty of the Sierra Nevada!
The space
The Cottage at Creek View Ranch is located equidistant from the historic mining town of Mariposa and the more populated town of Oakhurst. Beautiful drives in either direction provide access to Yosemite National Park.
The house is centered around the great room where you can dine, entertain, and relax. The dining table is perfect for family meals. The living area includes a fluffy sectional sofa and comfy chairs...a great place to watch a movie on the 55 inch flat screen TV (equipped with internet, bring your own streaming passwords). Plenty of board games, puzzles, and books for those looking to unplug.
The country kitchen is fully equipped and has beautiful views of the pond and mountainside. Basic spices and cooking utensils are all available.
The master bedroom features a queen sized bed, adjoining full bath, with views of the meadow outside.
The upstairs second bedroom has a queen sized bed and a shared bath.
The upstairs third bedroom has two twin beds and a wonderful play loft and reading nook. There are also loads of toys to keep little ones happy!
The deck has an outdoor table and seating area perfect for enjoying a meal with pond views and amazing sunsets.
Laundry room is on the main floor, located in the cabinet in the downstairs master bedroom.
We have an automatic back up generator in the event of power outages.
WiFi is dependable but not lightening fast. Depending upon the number of users and their individual usage, performance can vary.
Garbage is located in the shed on the side of the house.
Guest access
Guests have access to all rooms as described, host has reserved some cabinets and closets for personal use.
Access to the pond and it's water level is seasonal. Access at your own risk and comfort level.
Other things to note
Here's the thing.... this is a wonderful home in the mountains, the great outdoors of the rural Sierras surround us.... flora and fauna abound and make this place the beauty that it is.... that being said, it can be unpredictable at times.
Critters of all sizes share their home with us. There are bugs, bats and curious birds. Little lizards, snakes, wild turkey, frogs and the occasional turtle. Racoons, squirrels and deer. Coyotes can be heard and sometimes seen. Every once in a while, we might hear of a bear.
We have a handful of cows help us keep the grasses at bay... they roam free and are our friends. We also have two extremely social miniature donkeys that roam alongside as their guardians. They all feel they are the ranch’s greeting committee. All make output, watch your step!... 'nuf said!
On the topic of animals, while you can see that we love them, outside animals are not permitted on the property for safety reasons. If not trained to be with livestock, this can pose a hazard to both the animal as well as our livestock. This applies to service animals as well. Thank you for understanding.
The property is kept in a native state, safe for fire protection, but not manicured. Poison oak is native and it happens. When exploring, do so at your comfort level.
The weather is not under our control. The Sierras are prone to fire danger. Smoke can happen in the area and it doesn't always make things as perfect as we'd like them to be. We monitor the local situation closely and defer judgment to the county as to any immediate fire dangers.
The droughts have been hard over the past few years. The water level in the pond varies by the year and season. While the pond is full through the winter and spring, it shrinks in the hot summer months… thankfully, the nature around leaves more than enough beauty to enjoy!
Given that we are a remote property, we do everything in our control to maintain a safe environment. We do have an automatic backup generator in the event of power outages that can maintain the house and connectivity during these times. Power outages and weather can cause disruptions in some services to the house that are beyond our control.
Cell service is very limited in our area, depending upon the carrier.
Internet to our home is dependable, but not lightening fast. Suitable for life’s necessities, fun for movies and streaming, but not intensive usage.
While we want all these things to be perfect around our home, sadly the stars don't always align. We do our absolute very best to help under these circumstances, but are by no means responsible for the acts of nature. If any of the above makes you feel squeamish or uncomfy, then a hotel stay may be more in line with your creature comfort level.
We want nothing more than for you to enjoy your stay and we do feel that setting expectations up front is a great way to insure that!

About the host
Hosted by Gerson & BethAnn Goldberg
15 years ago, our family - BethAnn, Gerson, 2 kids, and 2 labradoodles took a transformative vacation to Sedona, Arizona. We discovered peace and unity in those mountains that we had never experienced before as a family. The petty arguments and whining that were all too familiar simply disappeared on those trails. Intent on recreating those experiences, we instantly started
looking for a mountain retreat away from our hectic regular lives in the SF Bay Area. We stumbled into Mariposa and really discovered what the Sierra Nevada had to offer, right in our own backyard. Now semi-retired, we lovingly call Mariposa home!
