Must see to believe! The Edward is a 3,500-square-foot home positioned on just over an acre of land and a minute away from Galena's Main Street. Previously the First Ward Schoolhouse, this house has been brilliantly restored to offer the perfect blend of historic character with modern updates. Offering a designated workspace, breathtaking solarium, fish pond, fire pit & fireplace, and massive outdoor patio, come make The Edward your home away from home for a month!

Three levels of spectacular spacious living!

As you walk through the main entrance of the house, you will enter a dedicated foyer with double-door entry and leaded glass transom windows. The large, lofty living area is ideal for entertaining. The great room includes high ceilings, a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and a massive sectional sofa with large windows and vintage shutters on three sides. A lofted seating area includes a dedicated work space and wet bar and opens up to a deck that leads to the beautiful backyard.

The top level includes two dedicated bedrooms, a full bath, and a spacious den/sleeping loft. The first bedroom has a king bed, wall-mounted TV, spacious closet, wood burning stove, and private balcony overlooking the tranquil backyard. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a wall-mounted TV, and spacious closet with a built-in dresser.. Please note that these bedrooms have an open-ceiling concept. Outside the bedrooms is a den that contains a pull-out sofa bed and two convertible chairs that fold out to offer two twin beds.

The lower level is a great open space containing a dining area, small living area, and gourmet kitchen complete with a wine cellar, double ovens, and a Samsung Beespoke refrigerator/freezer. Just off the kitchen is the breathtaking solarium with marble floors, stone walls, and a glass-panel ceiling. The sofa pulls out to a queen bed for additional sleeping accommodations. Take a step outside the solarium’s doors and you will be on the massive patio equipped with a gas grill, dining area, fire pit, and plenty of seating for the entire family. The beautifully landscaped property also offers a tree swing and koi pond.

Things to Note:

The top level does not have central heat. It relies on heat from the second level, and during the colder months, it may be a couple of degrees cooler than the main floor. Supplemental heat is provided in the form of electric portable heaters for each of the bedrooms and heated floors and electric heating in the bathroom. The top floor does have its own central A/C unit, though, for warmer months.

This property has space and kitchen accommodations that are suitable for larger events, including small weddings or group retreats. Events with more than 10 guests may be allowed for an additional charge and will require prior permission and coordination with the City of Galena and surrounding neighbors. Please ask owners for more details.

The front door has an electronic lock. On the day of your stay, your entry code will be sent to you prior to check-in. Show up whenever you want after 3 p.m. but before 10 p.m.
