Villa Eustachio beautiful villa on the Amalfi coast
The villa Eustachio is situated in a village called Scala, not far from the centre of Ravello (about 2 Km). The villa is reached by a medieval path(400 mt.) with 150 stairs but once there you are in heaven with a fabulous view of the coastline including Amalfi and Atrani. This villa is a typical example of a Mediterranean and Amalfitana house, with all the modern comforts. The villa has a central area, as well as two other apartments. There is a swimming pool of 4.5 meters by 9.50 meters which is for the exclusive use of the guests. The house is in perfect condition, recently restored, and on the ground floor there is the larger terrace of the house and the swimming pool. From here you enter the house into a large living room with separate open kitchen which has a washing machine and dishwasher. There is a TV. There is also one toilet on this floor. On the first level there are three bedrooms (one double plus an extra bed and two double ), all the rooms have the ensuite bathroom with shower, all with the air conditioning. There are also two more smaller apartments which we always rent together within the main building: First, the apartment named La Rondine can accommodate 5 people and is situated on the ground floor with a living room with double fold out sofa bed and a balcony with sea view, bathroom with shower, on the first floor there is a double bedroom pluas a single bedroom connected, with a sloping ceiling, and an half bathroom. Second, the apartment named Garden can accommodate 2+2 people and is composed of a living room (where is a sofa bed) a bathroom with shower, and a bedroom.
Ravello is situated in a splendid position, on a rocky in a more elevated position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast. In the last century Ravello became a preferred destination of the Grand Tour, educational and pleasure travels of European intellectuals and artists. In Ravello Wagner, Longfellow and many others stayed for a time, and everybody was enchanted by the extraordinary fascination of these places. Among the numerous churches in Ravello, undoubtedly the Cathedral and Chiesa del Toro, besides the famous S. Francesco cloister, deserve a particular mention. Not to miss Villa Rufolo, very ancient, built approximately in year 1280 by the homonymous family, one of the richest and most important families in Ravello. Even though it has been rearranged, the building still completely expresses an interesting Arabian-Norman style. Concerts are held In the villa during the summer time; the audience is enchanted to see the orchestra that plays as if it were suspended half-way up on a uniformly blue setting, represented by sky and sea.
To be visited also is Villa Cimbrone, that was built in the twentieth century and was commissioned by the English nobleman William Bechett. This villa imitates classicized and medieval styles and forms. Its celebrity is due to the already-quoted 'Terrace of infinity', that is really one of the most charming places on the Coast. But the beauty of the Villa consists in its gardens, decorated by statues, busts and marble groups. Our hosts Pasquale and Marco were extremely accommodating and friendly. Our first night we enjoyed their company as we had their pizza night. Every selection they made was delicious! We enjoyed eating while overlooking the mountains and sea. Could not get a better evening as our first in Scala. The views of the villa are spectacular and the size was more than spacious for our group.
The villa is beautiful and well maintained, the host, Pasquale, was warm, welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. The views are endless from every part of the villa! Thank you Pasquale for such a wonderful stay -- your home is beautiful!
Marco and Pasquale are unbelieveable hosts. I have never been to another country before. So it being my first time and with a 10month old, I was anxious nervous and scared. They answered all my questions, they made my group of 13 feel right at home. They were there any time we needed them. Their villa is unreal and breathtaking views. I recommend doing the pizza night and the traditional Italian dinner. The best experiences. Thank you so much Marco and Pasquale for everything!
Beautiful rustic Italian accommodations. Multi level villa with plenty of private outdoor space. I encourage everyone who visits to take the walk down to Amalfi. The neighborhood is warm and welcoming and hosts were friendly and accommodating,
The villa is amazing. Gorgeous views, really breathtaking. Ample space for a relatively large number of people. Very well stocked kitchen and a clean, functional pool, fruit trees with fresh kumquats and lemons. Safe, friendly neighborhood immediately flanking the beautiful ruins of the Saint Eustachio church. We were delighted. My only recommendation would be to suggest that the noted walking times to Amalfi beach and town would be longer. I'm a healthy hiker and would need much more time and pauses with the number of shear vertical steps. We relied on taxis. That said, though, this place is a dream. I would definitely love to return! The hosts are also amazingly helpful, professional and go out of their way to help accommodate and assist--and are quite the chefs. Their pizzas and dinners were fantastico!!!!
The villa was great for a family holiday. The steps down to the villa were difficult for a couple of the older members of the family but not completely unmanageable. The pool and the view from the pool terrace was fantastic. Scala itself is very beautiful and was quite during the time of our stay. Overall we had a fantastic stay whilst attending a family wedding on Ravello.
We had a brilliant week in the villa! Everything we needed was there - privacy, amazing views, relaxing atmosphere. The Villa Eustachio is one of the best villas we stayed in Italy - it’s not just a villa, it’s a house with a personal touch, very clean and well equipped. Pasquale and Marco were very helpful all the way throughout our holiday, from booking to checking out. We definitely recommend the dinner and the pizza experience they offer. The food was amazing, freshly prepared in the villas by the owners, and it was plenty for another night! The pizzas were amazing, everyone loved it!Don’t be put off by the steps, it’s a slow climb from the villa to the village Minuta where you can get a local bus to take to nearby villages and to the coast. We had people age 9 - 75 and everyone walked the steps every day and it will be very memorable holidays to all of us! Thank you Pasquale and Marco
This house is a once in a lifetime experience. The beauty of the house/location/view is overwhelming. It is very close to Ravello and Amalfi for a day trip. The house is especially great for a family. You should consider accessibility when booking this house as the house is a up/downhill path from the nearest road for a car - the path isn’t hard to walk for younger/able-bodied people. Definitely recommend booking the donkeys for your luggage. The hosts are great and very helpful and welcoming. Our family had an amazing experience!
Beautiful villa with a stunning view overlooking Amalfi. We stayed as a family group and all age ranges were very happy. No road access but not a problem since our luggage was taken down and then up the steps when we departed by mules. Pasquale and Marco were extremely helpful and rapidly responded to all our many requests and questions. We also enjoyed the quietness and friendliness of Scala, although with cafes and restaurants available when needed. Requires a degree of fitness to cope with the steps during your stay, but all worth it for that view. Pasquale and Marco did a pizza night for us, which was a highlight for all, and the pizzas were super. The interior of the villa was in the local fashion which was fine, but the kitchen is a litle old fashioned for modern needs. Definitely recommended.
Communication prior to arrival was exceptional and very helpful. Pasquale and Marco met us exactly where we needed to park, with the Donkeys for luggage and parking passes. Walked with us to the Villa, went through every item we possibly needed to know. We went for my 40th birthday and it was a trip of a lifetime. The villa was perfect, views were perfect And the walking was great! Don’t be afraid of the walking, but if you expect to sit in a car and drive everywhere, you should do your research and probably go somewhere more boring. Pasquale and Marco make the process so easy and are extremely helpful. Do the pizza night first night to settle in.
Excellent villa/quiet place to stay with incredible views
Pasquale and Marco are incredible hosts. Their villa is a piece of heaven on earth. The views of Amalfi are breathtaking and we found the villa to be sparkling clean and comfortable.
Pasquale and Marco check in on you everyday to be sure you have what you need for your stay. I could contact them by phone with a question and they immediately responded. My husband, kids and I cannot stop talking about the fabulous vacation on the Amalfi coast Italy we just had as a family. We ventured into the Amalfi beach, took a day trip to Capri and Sorrento and just relaxed some days by the pool. The town of Scala, where the villa is located, is so charming with markets and restaurants. The town of Pontone is just a few steps down the mountain with a fabulous restaurant and bar.
We give Pasquel and Marco 5 stars and we thank them both for a wonderful vacation that we won’t soon forget.
We really enjoyed our time at the Villa Eustachio. The setting was fabulous - overlooking the beautiful gorges below, next to a ruin, and the deep blue Mediterranean was the perfect backdrop to each morning's coffee. Pasquale and Marcos (twin brothers who manage the property), made us the most wonderful pizza from their on-site pizza oven on the night of our arrival (literally the most delicious pizza we had the entire trip through Italy!), and they also procured a boat for a tour along the coast and to Capri. The villa is very spacious. This villa is removed from any streets, so there are a lot of steps to the unit. However, they had donkeys to transport our luggage, and it was a 3 minute walk (for those in great shape), and a 10 minute walk for those of us who needed the walk :) We absolutely would stay at Villa Eustachio should we ever be so lucky to get back to the Amalfi Coast!
Unforgettable Experience at Italian Villa with AMAZING hosts.
Our recent stay at this Italian villa, nestled conveniently near Ravello and Amalfi, was an extraordinary experience. The villa's location provided easy access to these charming coastal towns and the nearby ferry, allowing us to explore other parts of the coast with ease.
However, it's important to note that the villa is not accessible by car. While the host and staff went above and beyond to assist us - helping carry our baby to the villa and arranging for a doctor to come to the house when my husband needed it. He even DROVE me to the pharmacy to get the medicine. They went WAY above and beyond.
The staff's hospitality didn't stop there; they even arranged a grocery delivery upon our arrival and offered excellent wine, both of which added to the comfort and enjoyment of our stay.
The location, exceptional service, and authentic Italian experience make this villa a standout choice for those able to navigate the access. If you're seeking a memorable getaway on the beautiful Italian coast, this villa comes highly recommended.
What an incredible property! The views from the pool area are simply amazing; you look right down on Amalfi and the ruins of Basilica Eustachio are literally next door.Yes, there are a lot of steps down from the roadway to the villa, but these should not dissuade anyone from staying here. The views on the walk make it totally worthwhile. Once you've been in the area for a short time you realize that stairs are the rule rather than the exception and the trips to and from the villa become second nature. We stayed here as a group of 6 and could have easily had several more in our party. There are several outdoor seating areas, an outdoor ping pong table, and of course the pool with its views.Pasquale and Marco are amazing hosts. They arranged for some groceries to be delivered to the villa prior to our arrival and did a wonderful job showing us the property. We took advantage of the offer of a pizza evening on the day we arrived and there are simply not enough superlatives to describe how good it was - easily the best meal we had during our two weeks in Italy! The villa is in a bit of a remote location relative to Ravello and Amalfi, so you must plan ahead if you need to be driven anywhere. Pasquale provided the contact information for a taxi service and that worked out well for our group. We did walk down into Amalfi (all 1400 steps!) but wisely decided to get a ride back up to the villa. There are several restaurants within walking distance, both up and down to
I booked this property around a year ahead of our trip, and had been looking forward to seeing whether it could possibly live up to the photos. It surpasses them. Nothing can prepare you for the scale of the property, along with its stunning views from all directions. This villa will satisfy all your senses, as we were able to eat lemons from the lemon tree, chinese mandarins from a tree, and be greeted with the scent of jasmine every time we went outside, which was constantly, because we couldn't tear ourselves away from the views. We cooked for ourselves most nights, other than the pizza night we had with Pasquale and Marco, who indulged us with a variety of different kinds of pizza made from scratch in the wood-fired pizza oven on the property. The kitchen was well-equipped and we caught up on our laundry as well. The pool was clean and refreshing, the ruins of Basilica Sant Eustachio next door are lit up at night and add to the already stunning views from all balconies and terraces at this property. Some of us took a walk down the path to Amalfi, but you can also reach it by bus from the town of Scala. Pasquale and Marco offered to arrange anything we needed, and were amazing hosts overall. If you have older family members, or anybody with mobility issues, it may be difficult for them to get up the path to leave the villa. We paid for the donkeys to take some of our suitcases up the hill on our departure date to make it a bit easier for some of us. We LOVED it here.
This is a magical spot in amazing countryside with unbelievable views. There is loads of space for a big party - with 3 bedrooms in the main part of the house and the 2 separate apartments. The walking in the area is brilliant - both for shortish hikes (Torre del Ziro) or more elaborate ones. It is an energetic walk from the road though - so definitely not for anyone with mobility problems. Big thanks to Pasquale and Marco for being such great hosts, including booking airport transfers etc - these made a big difference.
Our group of 10 stayed in Villa Eustachio for a week this summer and had an excellent visit. The views from the villa are spectacular and we truly enjoyed how peaceful and quiet the villa was. We were always grateful to return to the peaceful villa after our days of activities. The ruins of the basilica next door were beautiful and we enjoyed exploring. The pool was wonderful and there were plenty of places to sit and sun or relax in the gorgeous grounds/gardens.Pasquale was a fantastic host. We took advantage of the pizza night he and Marco hosted and it was the best pizza of our trip. We also took advantage of the grocery delivery and were grateful to arrive with our groceries ready to go and in the fridge!Yes, the steps to and from the villa are numerous, but doable as long as you are prepared. We walked to restaurants in Pontone and up in Minuta and Scala based on Pasquale's recommendations and enjoyed our meals. We wouldn't have changed anything about our stay. This villa was reasonably priced for the area and we would definitely stay here again. The only advice I'd give to families traveling is remember that this villa includes 3 separate apartments (the main house plus two smaller apartments). If you have small children you may need to think carefully about the layout. We had teenagers and it worked perfectly for us. But if you have smaller children just be aware of the setup.Thank you Pasquale and Marco for an amazing week!
Villa Eustachio was fabulous, as we the hosts, Pasquale and Marco.
The villa is filled with historic Italian character, plenty of room for large families, beautiful landscaping and terraces, and a refreshing pool. Guests must have a Piazzolo one night, take a boat trip with Mario to Capri and of course be prepared for the stone steps up and down. We loved it and will be back!

Room for improvement
We were over for a family wedding and had a good week on the whole. The villa had a lot of good points, though there are some issues which I think should be addressed and I hope this is taken constructively.
Things we liked: lots of space. The 2 separate annex style flats worked well for us to allow some of us to have a bit more space. Incredible view. Great outdoor terrace and pool area.
Things we found annoying: the lack of cleaning provisions (we had to buy new sponges as the ones there were so dirty). Having to put some form of bin out every night. The hot water was intermittent. No oil or basic provisions for cooking. There is a cap on the amount of electricity you can use (bearing in mind how much you pay to the the villa).
I found the constant dialogue with the owners a bit too much. They are very nice and helpful, but my experience with villas previously has been that you rent it and are left to enjoy the holiday. Looking at my WhatsApp, I had a message or voice note every day from the owners. The fact there was a leak and the lounge flooded did not help here - and to their credit, they were quick to resolve this.
Things we found unacceptable: being given one toilet roll per toilet, and being told we had to buy more. Not getting a change of towels in the week. There is a washing machine, but they do not provide any laundry powder or way to wash them. Again, for the money spent, I think this is unacceptable.
As an aside, the walk to and from the villa is well documented and did not phase us. Bear in mind, in the height if summer it is hot and feels a long way back after a big meal. Parking was easy enough and I would recommend getting a car (need to go to the shops to get the toilet rolls after all).
Absolutely amazing Villa, everything was considered! We were able to cook amazing food and spend lazy days enjoying the pool, the gardens and the views! Pasquale and Marco couldn't be more accommodating and helpful, I literally felt as if I was visiting family. We enjoyed every moment, thank you!
This property is very spacious, beautiful, and the location can not be beat. Pasquale was a great host, providing a lot of useful information and available when needed. I would recommend the option which Pasquale offers to have the donkeys help carry the bags to the house, as it is a long walk to the house (many steps along a downhill path). While we loved the long walk because it allows you to enjoy the spectacular views, please know that if you have a walking impediment, there’s no other way to get to the house. At the house itself the views are breathtaking! I recommend this property wholeheartedly.
