We rented this to be close to friends who were vacationing at Douglas lake. Great location, well appointed. Would have loved to have been able to spend more time in the town its self! I loved that this was an old bldg fixed up and being used! Great Stay!!!
We arrived to no power and a freezing cold unit. We didn’t sleep great due to the location being at the corner of a busy intersection but all of that would have been manageable if there had been accountability on the part of the host when I asked where the hot tub was and was told there isn’t one. I asked why it was listed as having one and she blamed VRBO and declined to make it right so we agreed to a refund for 3 of the 4 days we had booked but only received 50% of our money back. The space was clean and set up nicely in a very walkable area of an adorable town.
Really enjoyed staying in a historic building. You could hear street traffic but by 10pm the traffic was not much at all. We enjoyed walking the town and being close to the lake.
When we got there to check in used code and were greeted by two dogs. Place had lights on and bags in it. Tried calling host but cell service in area is terrible. Finally gentleman came to door and asked if he lived there stated he rented for weekend. Called host several times and left message just finally called back. Stated that site was on VRBO and Airbnb and got double booked somehow. I booked this place over two weeks out so you would think host would look at and see two people were renting. To me this states she does not look at sites just wants the money and doesn’t really care about the client. When I have rented before host would always contact me day or two before and make sure things are ok. I had just driven 4 hours to get to site and now I find I have no place to go on Fourth of July weekend. Host finally answered and said she was very sorry and would refund me 100 percent which I expected. You know if I would of cancelled though I would of had fees just did not even offer to pay for hotel that night, reimburse gas or food I had to loose that I had with me and was planning on using the weekend. Ended up paying twice as much for a hotel for the weekend. Just want people to know that this might not be the best place to go especially if you are traveling far. Was not very happy with treatment of host she did not even call back the whole weekend to see if we had found a place or not. Also the description stated no pets but yet there were two dogs at house.
The property is clean and quaint. My wife really liked it. My only complaint is the entrance from the living room to the kitchen. The opening is only 5’8”. I’m 6’1” and despite the cute little “duck duck duck” signs above the doorway I hit my head 3 times. Other than the slight concussion I too enjoyed my stay. I would highly recommend this place especially if you’re on the shorter side.
A Charming little condo, with all the character of and old building combined with modern day updates. Located in the heart of a charming little town near a lake, what more could you ask for? Condo was very clean, well equipped with all the amenities you need, and decorated tastefully in Industrial Farmhouse Chic. The pics on VRBO are spot on, what you see, is what you get. The owner/manager (Julie) was Great to work with, and replied promptly to my Emails. Street traffic is a little noisy, but I would definitely stay here again!
Attractive, newly remodeled apartment in a historical downtown.
The kitchen was very nice and open with window over the sink, everything one might need except a dish drain rack. The living room was comfortable and attractive with good drapes for the windows that looked out at a sidewalk and active street. The bed was comfortable but there wasn't much space to place your belongings. The bathroom was very spacious. We enjoyed our stay. My husband like the painting of a steer and I liked the sheep.
We really loved our stay here. It was very clean which is much appreciated. We had everything we needed for our weekend. The living room was a good size for our son to get his toys out and play. The only thing is the noise from the street. The street is soo busy. They did provide a sound machine in the bedroom which was helpful. But it was soo loud we had to move our son from the couch to the floor in the bedroom thankfully the matress for the pullout was portable. And once you closed the bedroom door it helped alot. Also it rained and the gutter was overflowing. It was a waterfall right at the door you access the property from. Those are minor inconveniences to us and we really still enjoyed our stay.
Absolutely beautiful property, we loved staying there.
What can I say about a vintage home remodeled with modern conveniences, it was a great experience. The host/owner communicated up front so we knew how to enter the property and expectations upon leaving, super simple rental process, kudos to the owner for that.
We were initially concerned about having a space to park out front, but there were always spaces, even on a busy farmers market day.
The town is charming, it makes a great walk to go through the town and to the bridge to look at Douglass lake.
The reason we gave it a 4 star on location and neighborhood was we were there over the weekend, the town of Dandridge seems off the beaten path, but we were surprised by the traffic rolling by the house on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening up past 11PM.
If you are trying to get to bed early it's quite an inconvenience between loud exhaust on cars, large commercial vehicles and motorcycles (I work in the automotive world so I knew from sound what was happening outside that door), my wife and I both were shocked by how many vehicles were passing by that house late at night, then the fact that there's a redlight right there on the hill beside the house which made it worse if the vehicle had a manual transmission and loud exhaust because it was a constant revving when they let out the clutch to inch forward or take off.
I'm only writing all this so you know as a renter, there's nothing the homeowner can do and maybe it was just that weekend. Wish house had a washer and dryer.
Overall, the stay was fine and I enjoyed our time here. There could be a better way to communicate with the host but they were responsive so it wasnt anything bad. While the place was super and in an almost perfect spot, my only complaint is that there is so much traffic and people
This unit was exactly what we wanted. It was very close to the festival we were going to so we could easily walk. There was street parking right out front which made for easy unloading of our vehicle. The property was clean and very cute. There is street noise but we had a white noise machine for the toddler with us and it worked to all our benefits. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
