About this property

1st Floor 'Home in Paradise' Ocean front, Free Wi-Fi, Exercise and Laundry room

Just 15 min. from historic Beaufort, 5 min to Hunting Island State Park; 57 miles to enchanting Savannah, 69 miles to thriving Charleston and 12 miles to Parris Island. Beaufort offers all the down-home charm of an older, southern city minus the really big crowds. (However, with more than 2 million visitors per year, it's not entirely disregarded.) History, architecture, the waterfront, a healthy local arts scene and great local restaurants separate Beaufort from other low country locales. Named the cutest town in SC by PowWow.com as the poster child for adorable towns, it has all the Southern charm you could ever dream of: friendly people, a low-country culture, a slow-paced lifestyle, Antebellum architecture and Spanish moss as far as the eye can see. History buff? Visit the Historic District, Historic Hunting Island Lighthouse, Legacy of Penn Center and the Beaufort History Museum. Our charming seaside town offers scenic boat tours, Hunting Island State Park and the Bay Street Waterfront.

Décore: Ocean Blue ceramic floor tile, Serta pullout sleeper sofa, Serta pullout side chair, 58" smart TV with Roku in the living room, flat screen TV in the bedroom, sailor blue bedroom furniture with a queen pillow-top bed and a nautical theme. This first floor vacation condo features a screen porch overlooking one of the island's 3 pools with a view of 3 mile long private, uncrowded beach and morning sunrises. Just 70 yards over the boardwalk, over the sea oats/sand dunes and you're on the beach!! Pets must be well behaved and preapproved. Pet owners planning to bring pet(s) must reserve with a credit card. Pets may require an extra cleaning fee, especially long-haired pets.
Close to rookeries with hundreds of herons and egrets.

We love to relax and enjoy the warmth of the sun, cool water and carefree attitude in a quiet neighborhood atmosphere with 24-hour security guards at the gated entrance. Take long walks on your own sandy beach. All the pleasures and privacy that a hotel cannot offer.

11 GOLF COURSES WITHIN 15 MILES.

And golf is only one of nearby Beaufort’s drawing cards. Just 10 minutes away Camelot Farms provides Equestrian Adventures. It won’t take long for you to discover why movie makers so often choose the Lowcountry as a movie set. Forrest Gump, The Prince of Tides, and The Big Chill are but a few of our credits.

Spend a week, especially when there's a festival going on or you can get a taste even in a few days thanks to well regarded tours. Festivals include:
Feb. - Internat'l Film Festival
April - Annual Soft Shell Crab Festival
May - Taste of Beaufort
May - Annual Gullah Festival
July 4th - Celebration in Port Royal and @ Parris Is.
July - Annual Beaufort Water Festival
October - Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival
Nov. - Annual Penn Center Heritage Days
December - Annual Night on the Town - 6p - 9p
December 6 - Gullah Christmas - 12 am - 12 am

The waterfront park is home to many festivals and it backs up to the three-block-long shopping and dining district. Other attractions: the history of the original Gullah community at Penn Center on St. Helena Island and the Santa Elena History Center. Climb the look out tower on Hunting Island State Park for spectacular views.

Contact www.beaufortsc.org for information on year round adventure tours, coach, boat and kayak tours, bike tours, walking tours, or horse drawn carriage and touring vans. And don't miss a stroll along lovely Bay Street packed with beguiling local shops.

What a relaxing, peaceful vacation. The condo was like a home away from home, very clean and inviting. It rained our first night there but the screened porch was a great way to spend a rainy night. We even got to enjoy watching a school of dolphins swim while lounging on the beach. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful, serene place to enjoy some down time!

A PIECE OF HEAVEN!!

Great location

Although the condo needs to be updated, it was clean, kitchen had all the things I needed and the view was beautiful. Very close walk to the beach. I would suggest a small outdoor high top table to enjoy the view while sitting on the porch. The bag chairs supplied were uncomfortable and sit to low to be able to see the beautiful view this condo has to offer.

Great location!

Even thou it was a busy holiday wkend, it wasn’t over crowded. We felt you could safely social distance and people were respectful. The condo itself was lacking, (coffee maker on last leg, shower ceiling stains, cheap linens, overall cluttered) but for the price it was ok. For a quick low key get away is was perfect.

Enjoyable overall.

Me and two girlfriends stayed for a moms weekend. It was unbelievably hot and during the day the tide is out so far it is like a half mile walk before you ever even reach water! 😳 Both coffee pots in the unit are broken, so that was a sad start to the day. We had to drive each morning to go get coffee. Other than that the property is very dated but clean.

Long weekend getaway

The location was great the beach was not crowded and the area was safe. The condo was a little old and therefore had some wear and tare as expected. there was a broken tile in the bedroom that may need to be replaced so no one cuts there feet on it but overall was as expected. The condo was clean except for the bathroom smelled like someone had vomited, I suspect from previous renters and the cleaning people were probably unable to get that smell out. The renter was great responded very quickly to all of my questions and concerns. Overall the location to the beach and state park was ideal and my family enjoyed our little getaway.

Relaxing stay

Clean, short walk to beach. Great little place to unwind. Although beach was the most crowded we have ever seen it in the 3 years we've been coming here, it was still easy to practice social distancing. I only had 2 complaints / recommendations to improve property. 1- The bed was smaller than we are used to. If you removed some of the dressers you could easily fit a king in there. 2- the kitchen was not stocked with any silverware at all. We managed with plastic cutlery. Other than that GREAT STAY.

Quick Getaway

We stayed on property for Memorial Day weekend. The furniture is dated, some tiles are loose or cracked, but the property was clean and functional. Owner was quick to respond to questions. If you work remotely, don’t plan on relying on the WiFi in the evenings. I don’t fault the property owner but I don’t believe the HOA has put in a system that can support the amount of traffic and users in the evenings. It interferes with television viewing as well. The pool and beach were great and you were located steps from both.

Nice but needs a little more TLC

I suppose that anyplace would pale in comparison after having spent 2 1/2 days/nights in a very nice suite at a Hilton. However, this condo needs some refurbishment. Bed slept well, but towels and furniture cushions, pillows were old and need replacing. One of the toilet seats was broken - a new one was installed while we were there. Other than this, the place was serviceable and handy to the laundry room (right next door). It is also VERY important to know that the beach where you can swim is about 2 1/2 - 3 miles away at Hunting Island State Park. However, I was grateful to be able to stay in this area and to absorb some of the very unique culture and beauty - nearby Beaufort was the place where many of the scenes from the movie "Forrest Gump" was filmed - a neat, neat place!

Respite for Myself

I was at Harbor Island by myself for a bit of repite care. As described in some of the reviews, the condo condition is a little older and a little worn. Because I was there for a month I did some cooking at the condo. It is not as well equipped as other places I have stayed. There were no large pots or skillets. Very few bowls to store or cook with. And very limited glasses, silverware and cereal type bowls. Towels were older worn towels but there were plenty. I will be renting again in the future but bring some of my own supplies with me. I had many supplies with me this time but not cooking ware. Owner was very nice and called to make sure everything went well when I arrived. Thank you Anne.

Not what expected/ and expensive

I knew this place was older from the pictures. But… I’m sorry to say it’s really old inside. Very shabby. And Not in a chic way at all. Wallpaper peeling, stains on the walls, Tile is loose and grout is missing. The basic cable box has a poor connection and cuts in and out …not many channels. So, Bring a smart tv ,DVD player or fire stick if you plan to watch a movie or tv. The two couches are very uncomfortable. The mattress is uncomfortable. This is not the beach you can swim in either, it is near the sound of the ocean which is different. Hunting Island beach is real close to this location…. And that is where we decided to have our beach day. The location is beautiful and that is the best part about this place. Parking fees, plus other fees = this place is more expensive than you think.

Terrible

First of all the host never returned ONE call I made to him!! No pass day of arrival. Property is beyond need of updating!! Grout between tiles was filthy! Looked like black mold under bar along with a surge protector that was rigged up! No Ice maker and trays (2) of them were broke! Stove was old and foil under burners was nasty. Coffee maker did not work! Wall paper bucked up and outside of front door was filthy. I was disgusted at this property and ended up staying with my sister up the road because of this! If you desperately needed anything then good luck with getting in touch with the host Ty.

Awful moldy smell and dust everywhere. Do not rent if you have any health ailments.

Do not recommend to anyone sensitive to moldy dusty smells. The moment you walk into the apartment you are hit with an overwhelming smell of mold. Turned the heat up and opened the sliding porch door which is hard to open. The ceiling popped and cracked when the heat was on. Dust was everywhere. Could not sleep due to the smell and dust. Contacted the owner who sent a cleaning lady the next afternoon. They sprayed air freshener to cover the mold smell. Could not sleep the second night because of the awful smell. Left the apartment in the middle of the night because of the health hazard of staying in the apartment. Contacted the owner who said she would refund the days I didn’t stay. Now she has back tracked and said that a contractor did not note mold therefore she would not refund partial payment. Expensive lesson to learn. Pay attention to the reviews if you want to have an enjoyable vacation.

Much needed getaway

My family and I were in much need of a getaway from our busy lifestyle. We heard about Hunting Island state park from a friend and quickly started looking for a small place to stay. Judging by the pictures , homeaway looked like a great spot that fit our budget. I read reviews, which were mixed, but for the most part positive. Annette was great with accommodating the changes in dates we requested and did so in a timely manner. Check-in was great. My family and I felt at ease knowing that there would be someone checking all vehicles entering the property 24 hrs a day. The grounds were quite and clean. Once we made it to the condo we had a little trouble accessing the knoxbox for the condo key. It took a few trys but eventually we got it. After entering we found it to be a little chilly but had no issues bumping the thermostat up a bit. We did find truth to the previous reviews about needs for an update. There were several places that the wallpaper was peeling off, broken floor tile in different rooms, mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, kitchen cabinets that wouldnt shut all the way, a kitchen drawer that had broken tracks, beach chairs that were rusted/torn, broken porch chairs, stains on the curtains, and stains on the couch . We never could find the wifi that was listed to use. Those things I could overlook for the price we paid and the short time we were there. However, there were two other things I found that bothered me...one being that when I pulled the fold-out bed out for my 12 year old to go to sleep I found a sheet that was covered in sand and hair still on the mattress. Needless to say, I removed it and replaced it with one from the linen closet. ( it did make me worry about the cleanliness of all linens) The second thing was when my child found an opened beer can behind the blue couch on the day we were leaving. We had not had any alcohol in the condo so I know it had been there for a while. I'm sure that these things would be unexceptable for the owner if she had found them so I hope that my review is taken as constructive criticism. If these things were all addressed I believe the condo would stay booked with a waiting list. Harbor Island is a wonderful place to visit and the area is extremely inviting but the condo itself needs to be addressed.

Stuck in the 80’s

PROS: 1. The condo living quarters was very clean 2. Price and pet friendly 3. Very close to beach across wooden walkway. Look close and see turtles and alligators 4. Very close to the pool... however this pool was closed due to COVID-19 5. Nice and clean grounds but needs trash cans outside for cleaning up after dogs. 6. 1st floor easy to get to ; there are a few steps to walk up... however it is not wheelchair accessible. 7. Wide wheeled wagon on porch for carrying items to beach is a plus. The wide wheels do not get bogged down in the sand. CONS 1. Shows in description as zero bedrooms but it does have a bedroom. 2. Old wallpaper and peeling. Very unsightly. 3. Whole place needs a coat of paint 4. Cabinets in kitchen and 1/2 bath are old and almost ready to fall apart 5. Many drawers in kitchen are cluttered with junk 6. Hallway closet cluttered with junk 7. Furniture on porch rusted and plastic chairs are broken and unusable 8. Old curly fluorescent lights throughout. One started smoking in tall lamp in bedroom and then went out. Replaced it with one from other lamp in the bedroom. 9. Blue furniture in living room is hard and uncomfortable and too large for the small quarters. You can only use 2 of the 4 dining chairs it is so close. 10. Mold stains on ceiling above shower 11. Sliding glass door is too hard to open and close. No handle on the door to ease the pain of us with arthritis. I did find a can of lubricant and sprayed the rail of the door but didn’t really help. 12. Only 1 steak knife. Checked all drawers in the kitchen. 13. No Chef knife or butcher knife. 2 small paring knives are it. 14. Coffee pot needs replacing 15. Keyless entry did not work. When I contacted the owner said to just use the key. Which was fine but had to also use the key to lock it when leaving because the keyless locking also did not work. 16. Heavy rains while here and the area just outside the door flooded by running down the wall at the door. Had to step in water just to step inside. 17. Some of the ocean blue and light blue floor tile broken or loose 18. Condo is very outdated and needs some TLC especially the kitchen and 1/2 bath. 19. Could use some Swiffer mops / brooms to make daily cleanup easier. The dry broom there is really dirty.

Why they chose this property

Once I felt the gentle breezes and saw the flowing waters, sandy beach and spacious views of Harbor Island, I was hooked enough to find my property.

What makes this property unique

Remarkable sunrises and sunsets, access to swimming pools, collecting sea shells, walking among the terns, pelicans, egrets, herons and horseshoe crabs, 24-hour security, graceful sand dunes covered with sea oats and coastal grasses, peace, tranquility and a wonderful place to take the grandchildren.
