Here are the NITTY GRITTY DETAILS. We have learned over time that every VRBO is different and every guest's expectations are *VERY* different. It is our goal to make sure that we are as transparent as possible up front so that you can make the best choice for yourself on where you would like to stay.
IN A CITY: This apartment is in the "city" part of Portland and not so much the "neighborhoody" part. Expect street noises and other things that go along with bigger city-scapes.
OLD HOUSE: This unit is newly renovated, but it is in an old house. Old houses come with a lot of unique charm. But they also tend to have issues that crop up, not out of negligence, but just out of simple wear and tear and age. We try to address issues as quickly as they arise, but some issues are not going to be possible to address during your stay (such as a creaky floor or an old house smell).
TENANTS ABOVE YOU: This unit has another apartment above it. As such, you will often hear the normal noises of other tenants in the building. This may include: people walking, pets walking, pets occasionally barking, muffled voices, muffled music, muffled TV noises, furniture being moved, the occasional thing being dropped on the floor. We inform our upstairs tenants to keep aware of tenants below, to wear socks, to keep their dogs from excessive barking, to keep quiet hours of 10pm - 8am. However, there is a certain level of noise that is not possible to control. If you notice the upstairs tenants causing excessive noise, especially during quiet hours, please let us know. If you would like us to bring over a noise machine, please let us know. By booking this unit, you acknowledge this reality of potential noise.
CLEANING: This is a new apartment, so things will likely stay pretty clean. However, please keep in mind that short term rentals (with kitchens, kitchenware, fridges, etc) are MUCH more time-consuming to clean than hotels and motels. Our cleaners do a good job cleaning, but they are only human and humans miss details sometimes (e.g. a stray hair may fall off the cleaner's head when she's on her way out of the apartment). If you are expecting an 100% sterile, bleached environment, this may not be the place for you. That being said, please let us know if the cleaner missed something important and we will send them back to fix the issue.
NO SMOKING: No smoking anywhere on the property.
NOISE: No excessive noise. No parties. No yelling.
PET POLICY: All pets must be approved in advance. You must confirm that the animal has no history of property destruction, indoor urination/defecation, aggression, or excessive noise. We expect you to have the animal with you or crated when you're not home. In order to maintain an allergen-low environment for other guests, we have our cleaners do deep cleans after every animal stays there and hire a carpet / upholstery cleaner if necessary. Any undisclosed pet will result in a large penalty. FEES: Dogs and cats: 14 days or less: $100 // 15 days or more: $200. This fee does not cover any damages caused by the pet that result in excessive cleaning or repairs
ESAs / Service animals: If you have an ESA animal please send us a copy of the paperwork including the letter from your healthcare provider. If you have a service animal trained to help you with a disability, we will be asking you the following legally allowable questions: 1) Is the service animal required because of a disability? 2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? (Your disability does not need to be disclosed)
