Property and house was excellent. Wanted a place away from the city, that was quiet and would provide the comforts of home. Luis, was an excellent host and put a lot of attention into this beautiful home. Melba was excellent and will accommodate any and all needs, amazing cook. Guardian the dog of the property, is playful and was bringing us company along the property. We enjoyed amazing sunsets with a warm cup of coffee. Overall it was an amazing experience.
Comfort and scenery, only a bit above an hour from Bogotá.
Lovely setting, my spouse and friends fully enjoyed our stay. Staff was attentive but not intrusive. All the comforts of a high end apartment with the addition of a countryside scenery and ambience.
This is one of the best VRBO’s we have ever stayed at. Immaculate, better than the pictures, large, comfortable, intimate yet modern. The views are to die for and the location is perfect for activities. Melba was the crowning glory, her cooking and loving attitude towards our kids are unforgettable.
A lovely site, a wonderful view, and a beautifully renovated contemporary house which retains colonial touches true to the area and the history of the home. It is a perfect place from which to visit Laguna Guatavita (from which the story of El Dorado comes) and to partake of a pleasant mule ride in the country side. The Oriente Restaurant is quite close and has delicious and interesting food. And Melba, the cook/maid, is worth every peso to make your stay memorable.
We had a wonderful time at Tutasua. The house is perfectly situated with a beautiful view. There is plenty of outside furniture to enjoy the sun, to have a barbecue, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It was an easy drive to visit the Catedral de Sal, Colombia’s First Wonder. We also rented a kayak at the lake and had a great paddle along the lake shore.
Melba, the caretaker, is a great cook and makes the stay so enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
From the moment we walked in, we knew this home was something special. It truly felt like a vacation, every detail was designed with care and relaxation in mind. The view from the living room looks like a watercolor painting and immediately sets the tone for rest and connection. The house has everything for a family to unplug and enjoy each other. My kids didn’t use screens once! We played games (provided), laughed, and made real memories.Melba, who cares for the home, is a treasure. She’s attentive without being intrusive, makes amazing coffee, and her meals were better than most restaurants. She even cooked special dishes for my picky 3-year-old and set the table beautifully, making each meal feel like a celebration. The home is spotless and even better than the photos. Soft linens, cozy beds, blackout curtains for sleeping in and even a hidden gem: a small gym overlooking the lake that’s not in the listing! Every room has a stunning view, so staying in was just as special as going out.One of my favorite memories was playing the record player and watching the sunset with my husband, wine in hand. This stay set a new standard for us. We left recharged and can’t wait to return.
Tutasua is simply amazing and the perfect place to rest and enjoy the spectacular view and fresh air of Sesquilé and the Tominé reservoir (lagoon). The pictures of the property are spot on and accurate but they do not convey how nice and comfortable the place is and feels once you are there.
I was hesitant to try the property since it had no reviews and was newly listed but I am so very glad I did.
Communication with the owner was flawless and an added benefit is the caretakers that live on site in their own separate property. They are fantastic and are happy to be as little or as much involved as you need them to be.
The description of the property on the website is also spot on. However, one aspect that can be lost in the description is that there are a ton of different seating and functional areas in and around the house so you can essentially spend a week or more in the property and still not use all of them!
I recommend looking at all the pictures to truly appreciate all that you are renting. There really is nothing like this property in the area.
In summary, fantastic place! For those still doubting, we had ZERO issues and I am very picky. I will definitely come back.

About the host

We manage a couple of other 5 star luxury properties in California with well over 200 5 star ratings. We also have 2 additional properties in Colombia, one is a condo in Cartagena overlooking the ocean and another is an architectural masterpiece in Tocaima.
Why they chose this property
Vereda Chaleche is as a hideaway for many Americans, foreigners and well-heeled Bogotanians about 1 1/4 hr o 1 1/2 hour north of Bogota and within its "security" ring for the diplomatic corps.
If you are planning on visiting the beautiful tourist towns of Boyaca or going to the Catedral de Sal in Zipaquira, Tutasua d ot co m is a much more convenient option as a launching point for day trips to these historical places than having to deal with the Bogota traffic. And more pleasant. In fact, using Tutasua to do your Bogota tourism (all you need is one day), rather than staying in Bogota, is probably an even better idea. We are flanked by two small towns in which you can get just about everything, but we are located less than 30 minutes from a major high-end supermarket and 45 minutes from the Fontanar Mall in Chia that has just about anything you could want, luxury shopping, sport equipment, electronics, Starbucks, movie theaters, fantastic restaurants, etc.
If you intend to drive on to the Llanos or Medellin or Cartagena and the Caribbean the farm is perfectly located as a way station to those areas as the shortest path to them.
What makes this property unique
Less than 1/2 a miles away is Oriente Restaurant, renown Colombian Chef Tomas Rueda's farm to table restaurant provides an entirely locally sourced menu - weekend reservations a must. Less than a mile away is our Boat Club. We are the only property to provide water access through our private Club. The club looks stuck in the 70/80's but is very convenient, small, private and very well maintained, no food is served but it has large wood/coal BBQ pits, pool table, ping pong table, darts, lounge, small soccer pitch and most importantly, you can launch your own boat, rent kayaks, paddle boards, sail boats, have someone take you out or have lessons organized for you and or your kids. Fishing and water skiing can also be arranged. Access to the club is $8 per day per person. Within 1-3 miles is the famous El Dorado and paramo ecosystems. El Dorado is the famous round crater lagoon immortalized in Conquistador myths who believed there was sunken gold and emeralds at the bottom of this lake because local chieftains would swim in it covered in them. Paramos are unique ecosystems at very high altitude.
Apart from the water activities, Tutasua is at the epicenter of a wealth of activities and sports. Within 0-10 miles are self or guided hiking, rock climbing, mountain and biking, quad rentals, horseback riding, hand gliding, etc.
We also offer additional comfortable sleeping spaces for support staff.
