Great spot! Tucked into the beautiful National forest. We rented the house for a wedding and everything we needed was there! The host was an excellent communicator!
The cabin/house was comfortable and had what we needed for a short stay. The area was quiet and peaceful, and it was great being close to nature and town. While the cabin/house wasn’t fancy, it served its purpose and made for a relaxing little getaway. The host was pleasant and easy to communicate with, which we appreciated.
We LOVED this property. The house is a nice size, plenty of beds, the kitchen is pretty well equipped, the fenced back yard was great for my kids to play in, and the beds were all comfortable. Everything was nice and clean. All 8 of us who stayed here had a great experience. It seemed far from town at first, but its really not bad at all.
The General Store is a great place to enjoy the cool pines. If you are a hiker the location is excellent for getting out and enjoying the trails. It is 1.5 miles to Goldwater Lake and there are plenty of options for hikes from the front door. The yard is perfect for the dogs and the back porch is a great place to relax. The house is comfortable and has plenty of room to enjoy it with family and friends. The only downsides are that it is on a corner that can be busy at times. And I do wish the bedroom windows would open so you can enjoy the cool evening breeze.I look forward to returning again.
Well equipped rental, awesome deck, fully fenced backyard, TV with Prime if you need it, good WiFi, close to town but in the cooler woods of Groom Creek at about 6200feet.woods of
Surprisingly fantastic location hidden near Groom’s Creek. Very close proximity to Goldwater Lake. Deer will walk right next to you. Description of property just as described. I wish the backyard landscaping was cleaned up a little more for the kiddos to play. Other than that, a hidden gem that we will be back to again!
Sam was a great host and we enjoyed this beautiful cozy place in the woods, very quiet with gentle breezes coming through the pine trees. The cabin was spacious and clean with a well-equipped kitchen and small coffee nook. Loved having coffee and meals on the back porch where we could watch the deer roaming the neighborhood. Great hiking trails and a short drive to Goldwater Lake. We will definitely come back soon.
Very quaint, rustic cabin way up in the mountains, in the forest, with visits from javalinas and deer on a weekly basis. It had a nice big back yard for our dog, and it is very pet friendly. Big old two-seater swing on the back porch, like Cracker Barrel. The house is decorated with lots of kitsch (like a can of "Possum Soup" in the kitchen, haha) and it is very homey. But we had some problems getting it to be warm enough until we found the oil heaters in the closet .. there is no furnace. And it was December. The drive up and down the mountain is beautiful but it takes 12-15 minutes to get to the nearest store. Also our cell phone service was spotty, I had to drive about 2 miles to Goldwater Lake to make phone calls or text. The neighbors are super friendly though and very helpful. When the javalinas got into our garbage, the neighbors cleaned it up (they said they regularly do this for new renters) and loaned us one of their garbage cans to use. Another neighbor helped us when we got our car stuck on a tree stump (watch where you're going!), he had a big old jack and lots of tools. While walking my dog, people frequently chatted me up. Nice, friendly, peaceful neighborhood. The owner was always ready to answer any questions and help out, when I could reach him by phone, that is, like I said, the phone service wasn't too good, but the internet worked fine. This is a fun and quirky place to stay, but if you have a dog, be careful of the javalinas.
