Hi, We're Eric and Gayette Huseby.
Travel is our passion. We have had some spectacular experiences ... and a few we'd rather forget. We are committed to making your stay at Antler Mountain Lodge a highlight your family or group of friends will remember for all the right reasons for years to come.
We've always loved the mountains. We were married nearby in Cloudcroft, New Mexico in 1995. We spent our careers in El Paso, Texas, and every time we rented a cabin in Ruidoso, we dared to dream a little bit about one day owning our own.
That came true in 2010 when we finally bought a 2-bedroom cabin, Antler Crossing, near midtown Ruidoso. We made many trips, reviewing many properties, looking for one that had that "something special" and was much more than four walls and a place to eat and sleep. We designed everything for our own comfort because we used it too!
After Antler Crossing proved very popular, and we gained some confidence that we understood the vacation rental business, we added Antler Mountain Lodge, a place where we would have enough room for larger groups of friends and loved ones. Once again, our search was for a cabin that had "something special" and we furnished and decorated it to be a place we would want to stay.
We started off with pretty good property managers, but they sold their company, and things went downhill quickly. We found issues with cleaning, stocking and maintenance. We switched managers more than once, but were never able to find anyone who cared about our cabins, and our guests' experience, the way we do.
In 2022, we went "all in." I said goodbye to my career as a TV news manager. We sold our home in El Paso, and moved up here where we can more closely supervise all aspects of our small business. We inspect the cleanings. We do constant maintenance and renovation. And we strive to make sure every guest feels we CARE about providing high quality vacation spot, and put a personal touch on everything we do.
