Enjoy astonishing sound sunset and sunrise views from the furnished deck of this relaxing cozy cottage located on the point in Brigands Bay, Frisco, NC on Hatteras Island, Outerbanks, aka, OBX.

Leave plenty of time to do nothing at all. Sit on the private deck and look out over Pamlico Sound where you'll watch windsurfers and kiteboarders sail across the water. Out on our deck towards evening time, watch the mackerel jump or drop a kayak in the water for a sunset paddle. Just relaxing is 'island time' well spent.

Outerbanks is known for some of the best windsurfing, kiteboarding and fishing on the whole East Coast and this can all be done from the backyard of this cottage.
Plenty of room for rigging your gear, enclosed outdoor shower and BBQ grill are all here in our backyard.

Just north 10 minutes on NC12 is Canadian Hole also known as Kitepoint, which is where wind surfers from Canada have flocked to since the 1980s. This sweet spot now attracts kiteboarders as well.
The warm, shallow water of the Pamlico Sound, combined with the steady warm Gulf Stream and Outer Banks winds create unparalleled conditions for wind surfing and kite boarding.

Just south 5 minutes are the beaches of Frisco. Free parking and don’t forget the cool beverages and sunscreen. Rest a beach chair at the edge of the surf and do nothing.

Our Cozy Cottage has 3 bedrooms including 1 bunk room, 2 single beds, and 1 full size bed.

Modern kitchen with all amenities. Flat top electric stove, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer on the main level for convenient use.

The living room has 2 glass sliders for access to the decks and great views. Also there is a Flat Screen TV and High Speed Internet for those occasional rainy days or catch-up with emails, etc...
Many new amenities and updates to make you feel right at home and enjoy your vacation.

As owners, we keep the place nice because we stay here too.
We want you to feel right at home in our vacation home.

Some things you may consider doing while staying in the Outer Banks - visit a fish market for freshly caught local fish, kayaking in the sound, charter fishing, birding or lighthouse tours, take an art class, visit the local potteries for hand made wares, set sail on a romantic sunset cruise, take a ferry ride to Ocracoke, a quaint fishing village and artist colony...

Fishing is popular along the entire stretch of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, as both ocean and sound fishing are available. Watch the local fishermen motor out the channel to the sound each day to bring in their catch.
Just across Hwy 12 is a fresh fish market and there are also plenty of fine restaurants, coffee houses and bakeries in the area.

Other popular activities include, crabbing, clamming, kayaking, boating, biking, photography, snorkeling/scuba diving, swimming, sailing, hiking and bird watching. Nature trails are nearby too some of which are in Buxton Woods.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore is a birders paradise, with over 400 different species of birds sighted. Located along the Eastern Flyway, its varied habitats and strong winds and storms force the exhausted birds to rest. The greatest variety of species occurs during the spring and fall migration.

Everything we hoped for!
Absolutely loved our stay here! The views are amazing and the house is super cozy. Our favorite part was kayaking or watching the sunset on the water from the deck. The owner was very nice and accommodating, even in the weeks and months leading up to vacation. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway this is the place to go!

Amazing view of the Pamlico Sound!
Great place to stay for small family. House could use a bit of updating and is pretty small but the view more than makes up for it.

LOVED the Cozy Cottage!!
Hi review readers! We just stayed the week of Aug 20-27th. We had a group of 3 men, myself, a baby and 1 dog. The house was so sweet, well stocked with everything you could need. For a pet friendly place, it was nice to NOT be smacked in the face with an animal urine smell when you walk in. The view was incredible! The deck was a perfect spot for eating dinner, drinking morning coffee and adult drinks when the kiddo went to bed. I gave this place 4 stars and Id like to say why; this cozy cottage is...well....cozy! Its about 500-600 sq ft. The price is very affordable and inviting, however do not try to bring a large group here. The kitchen is small, the only bathroom is VERY small and the bedrooms are also very small. The largest bedroom has a full size bed, the other bedroom has two twin beds and the bunk bed room is made for little kids, that room was probably a closet/pantry or utility room at one point. Make no mistake about my review though, we loved the house, amenities, views, and the constant communication between myself and the owners (they were so awesome to work with) Id say if you have a smaller family and your going to be outside anyways, this place is perfect, and has everything you need for an enjoyable vacation! Thanks again, Jim we will surely consider staying at the cozy cottage again in the future!

Beautiful location!
Upon arrival to the cozy cottage, we were ecstatic to finally see the beautiful sights in person! The pictures and description of the cottage is spot on. We spent the first evening swimming in the sound that just so happens to be in the backyard! I thoroughly enjoyed watching my boys swim, crab, fish, and kayak while sipping on a cold drink from the comfort of the large wrap around deck. My extended family rented another house a short distance from this cottage and I was able to kayak right around the point for a visit. We spent most of our days driving out on the beach next to the airport in Frisco. You pay $50 for the week to get a 10 day pass for 4 wheel vehicles, located at cape hatteras lighthouse. Shelly Island was fun to visit...make sure you wait till low tide and you can walk across without much trouble. We found many beautiful shells and our black lab loved the swim across to the island. We collected so many shells, we decided to leave them behind for future visitors to enjoy at the Cozy Cottage. The boys placed the shells around the downstairs showers, which we used daily after our long days at the beach. It was so great to come home in the afternoon to then play in the sound. One cloudy day we even walked across to the other side and the water never went above our chests. We made our dinners here most nights and the outside grill was perfect for burgers and dogs. Fully stocked kitchen was appreciated and we enjoyed the beautiful artwork! Orange blossom is a favorite of ours so make sure you stop in to get an apple ugly for breakfast. Scotch bonnet has some delicious fudge you can take with you before you leave town. Bob's bait and tackle is where you can get your fishing license and the ladies were very knowledgeable. We picked up some seafood for dinner at Buxton Seafood only a short distance from the cottage. After spending every summer in the outer banks and Hatteras since I was a child, this by far is one of our favorite cottages simply put for the location and beautiful views. We spent our last day on the beach out on the point and the people who were our "neighbors" were so friendly and kind! It's a shame we only get to do this once a year...many thanks to Jim and Mary who were very helpful with answering my questions and easy to work with. Our family of 4 with our sweet pup thoroughly enjoyed this cottage and I know why it stays booked. Thank you again for everything and we look forward to coming back for many years to come!!!!

COZY COTTAGE – LOCATION – LOCATION – LOCATION
“Cozy Cottage” perfect name for a perfect cottage and very affordable for our family. The beach theme décor fits the cottage perfectly, was totally amazed at the great art work adorning the walls and actually painted by Mary, the owner. The location of the cottage has a “Million Dollar View” of the Pamlico sound. We sat on the deck and watched the kiteboarders leisurely travel up and down the sound. We even ventured out in the Kayaks provided by the owners (to have to rent them would have been above our budget) so we were grateful that they were there for our use. The bedrooms were perfect for our family, our two youngest were thrilled to find one bedroom had bunk beds. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots, pans and dishes to make and enjoy my fabulous family comfort dishes. There were two brand new outdoor showers that were put to good use, the kids loved the outdoor showers so much they asked their dad to build one at home (maybe that’s not such a bad idea :>) Jim and Mary the owners were wonderful to work with, they were very helpful with some suggestions with our day trip sightseeing plans. We went to the Indian Museum right there in Frisco, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton and the Wright Brothers Museum in Kitty Hawk. So much to see on the Island, we are already making plans to return to the “Cozy Cottage” for 2018. When we go back we plan on taking a day trip on the ferry to Ocracoke another suggestion of Mary’s that we did not have time for on this trip. Thank you again Jim and Mary for opening up your adorable beach house, our family is still talking about it. We took so many pictures and made great memories on this family vacation, we all agree it was the best family vacation ever and we will be back next year.

About the host

We are from the mountains of central Pennsylvania but have always had an attraction to the water. Many of our memories are of our pleasant times spent at the Outer Banks.
One of the first places we stayed here is just 2 blocks from our cottage. That was during the beginning of our courtship. As the years passed we kept coming back here to the Outer Banks to enjoy the quiet, clean beaches and to have time away to recharge. We saw the need to invest in our cozy cottage for future generations to enjoy as well. We are only to happy to share our cozy cottage with our guests. When we stay here it feels like home. Our dog Tipper usually comes along too as you will see in the additional pictures.
One of us is a scuba diver and the other a kite boarder so this place offers the best of both.
We hope that you will create memories as we have done. Relax, recharge and enjoy your stay!

Kindest regards!

Jim and Mary

Why they chose this property

We have been enjoying the Outerbanks for over a decade and for the 2011 season we are offering our newly acquired vacation home for others to enjoy. We have found Frisco to be one of the nicest areas of the Outer Banks. The warm waters soothe and gentle breezes relax. We appreciate the beautiful beaches and how natural and uncommercialized the area is.

What makes this property unique

Laid back island lifestyle. Home away from home. Perfect relaxing vacation spot with real friendly locals. Freshly caught fish and shellfish.
