Kitchen was top notch, we cooked many meals during our stay. Kitchen was equipped with everything and anything from cooking to baking. Well thought out felt like we were cooking at home.
Overall layout was great. Access to water was steep and required about 70 stairs which some of our guest could not do. Cleanliness was not very good. Kitchen was well equipped but pots, pans, etc. showed a lot of use with scratches and dents. Only 1 wine glass provided that was very old with a lot of film on it. Cleaning supplies and toilet paper were sparse. The stairs going up could use a handrail. Outdoor grill was extremely rusted and dirty. We would not use. Nice outdoor fireplace but no firewood.

Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the layout of the property and found the kitchen well equipped.
We would like to clarify a few points for future guests. The property is professionally deep-cleaned between each guest's stay. Handrails are present on every staircase, and access to the water involves approximately 30 steps, rather than the 70 mentioned in the review. Toilet paper is provided in each bathroom, two bottles of dish soap are supplied in the kitchen, and eight wine glasses are available for guest use.
The pots and pans show normal wear from regular use, but are provided for guests' convenience. Please note that firewood is not included with the stay.
We take guest feedback seriously and remain committed to maintaining a clean, comfortable, and well-equipped property for our guests.
Sarah was an excellent host with wonderful communication. The home has amazing amenities, the kitchen is first class. Our kids loved the games. We’ve never been in a home with so many board games and outside games. We loved that there was a Christmas tree which added to the festive feel during our holiday trip. Thank you to Sarah and her family for sharing their home with us. We hope to visit again.
We had our family of 8 adults and 5 children staying and the space worked out perfect for our group. We were able to eat all together on the main level and the house had everything we needed for our stay. The kids loved playing in the bunk room, the main level and the basement with all of the games and the house even had all the chairs and sleeping items we needed for the different aged kids. Would definitely stay here again!
We had an absolutely perfect stay at this home! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The property was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had every comfort we could possibly want. Days were spent enjoying activities on the lake — from peaceful morning paddles to afternoon swims — and evenings were a joy in the huge open kitchen, where we prepared and shared wonderful meals together. The layout made it easy for everyone to gather, cook, and laugh without feeling crowded. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we’re already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommended!
Our family of 11 drove to IL from RI and MS. The house was exactly as promised! We have never rented a house that was so well appointed! Everything we could have needed was in good supply and labeled for ease! We had so much room and were able to invite more family in to celebrate a full Family Christmas! We had great communication with Sarah before, during and after our stay. The location is so close to good food and we took the train to Chicago for the day! We had an amazing stay and hope to get our family back here again! Kathy
Hosts were extremely responsive before and after the stay (I left a singular ear-bud at the property and they kindly mailed it back to me at no cost!).The property itself is so large that even though we had a full house nobody ever felt like they were on top of anyone! Both kids and adults loved the kayaks s'mores at the firepit in the evening. I can only imagine what this is like in the summer. The only snag was that the outside was not super clean - though I suspect that's due to the leaves starting to fall and season turning. I wiped the exterior furniture we used down but all interiors were clean. We already plan to return again next year!
Let me start with the chef's kitchen--so awesome to cook in! We were here for Navy Graduation and all my daughter wanted to do was hang out in pajamas and eat home cooked food. It was a cooking extravaganza!
When we weren't eating, there was so much to do without ever leaving the house--games galore, wall Scrabble, foosball, swings on the porch, and a rock snake to add to..we had a blast painting rocks!
The view was amazing! Lake fun would have been the icing on the cake, but with all to do we didn't miss it.. (We were there in October).
The house was amazing too, basically two units. Our daughter's boyfriend traveled with us and he got the whole downstairs. It was perfect. My husband who never comments kept saying how much he loved the layout.
Sarah was very easy to get a hold of.
We all loved our stay. Thank you so much!
Wonderful equipped kitchen, loved the game room and water toys, very family friendly. My husband uses a cane and there were adequate railings for stairs both down to the lake and up to the beautiful master suite. The lake area is relatively calm during the week
