Quiet Shell River Cabin with Sauna

Our Cozy little cabin is the perfect getaway for all seasons. The sauna is an extra treat. The property is close to the tiny town of Osage and the Smokey Hills State Forest. The Shell River runs through the property providing the perfect relaxing background at the campfire. The large oaks provide beautiful green shade in the summer, an array of orange & yellow in the fall and a beautiful place for the frost and snow to settle in the winter.

This little cabin had an awesome movie selection and a really well stocked kitchen. We loved the dog-friendliness and the fire pit! Everything was clean, comfy, and convenient. I do wish that more of the windows had curtains. Overall very highly recommend this property!

Check in / out was simple. The property was very nice. The home had absolutely everything we could have needed. The yard was private and had plenty of room for our pup to run around & play. We stayed in Deana property for 3 nights while exploring Minnesota lake area.Perfect for couple. Cabin was very clean and well equipped .It was sitting next to tiny river with huge trees. Communication with owner was great.Will definitely stay again.

Unbelievable value and location in lake country

What an amazing cabin! Fully updated and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is HUGE and fully stocked. Expansive grounds with river views, fire pit, and grills. Comfortable bed with clean, fresh linens. Honestly, this place was 100% A+++++ - we loved it and would absolutely return. Deana was super available and communicative throughout the stay. No complaints whatsoever. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

Peaceful

Very peaceful stay among the trees and near the river. We loved sitting on the little dock (it being there was a nice surprise), and watching the river flow. Our dog liked jumping into the water which was clean and clear and only about a foot deep in our section. You can’t see the water from inside the cabin but the natural light through the old-growth oak trees more than makes up for it, it is stunning. The cabin itself was very comfortable, well-decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with necessities.

shell lake hideaway

It was a great experience. It was clean and true to the pictures posted on the site. A lot of nice little touches you don't get at other places. Nicely stocked kitchen supplies and weber grill which made it easy to grill out and make our own meals. Fire pit with supplied wood was a pleasant surprise along with board games and dvds. Neighbors at times were a little noisy with their machines but it did not last long, over all very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Everything about the cabin was well thought out. Very clean and welcoming. We enjoyed being able to have a fire outside because the weather was perfect for it! Great selection of movies! We loved all of the light the windows let in and the coziness of the cabin. Just what we wanted to come back to after hiking!

The Perfect Getaway! We spent lots of time in the beautiful autumn weather taking in fall colors in the surrounding state parks. Don’t miss The Lost Forty and the Mississippi Headwaters. Returning to our little cabin in the woods felt like a hug each evening when we returned. Small and well-thought out, Shell Cabin had everything you need without a lot of clutter. A grade on this VRBO!

Nice except neighbor kid riding around on his 4 wheeler—both days—not really private location—shower not well thought out because water would pour onto the floor—loud water machine ….we did not smoke in there and left place clean —don’t know about wine spill—-thanks

Hello, I am a Park Rapids resident. I lived near Park Rapids as a child and moved back to the area to raise my family. The house just South of the River Cabin is where my husband, Kelly and I raised our children until 2004. I owned and operated Dogs Paw near Park Rapids for 14 years. This cabin has a fun history, and we love sharing the property with guests so that you can experience the relaxing environment.

I love this place for the large oak trees and the peaceful river. The location is close to the Smokey Hills State Forest, Straight Lake, Park Rapids and about a 25–30-minute drive to Itasca State Park.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is a bit rustic on the outside and very clean, cozy and convenient on the inside. The large oak trees provide shade and beauty year-round.
