We would not host Martha again. Future hosts should be aware that this guest attempted to use an isolated maintenance issue to seek compensation beyond what we believed was reasonable. This guest disregarded signs for our HVAC system and accidentally turned on our heat on an extremely hot Texas summer day. The pressure from the heat ended up causing a pressure leak. At the time we did not know the cause of the leak and offered her a refund for the night impacted. Although the leak occured on the final night of her stay, she requested a refund for her entire reservation. We responded promptly, communicated professionally throughout. We also gave her the option to either remain at the property or leave, whichever she preferred. She chose to stay that night and received the full refund for the affected night. She insisted that, in addition to the refund, we should also pay for hotel accommodations despite choosing to remain at the property. Based on our experience, we felt her requests were disproportionate to the issue and not made in good faith.
