Old Florida Treasure

This trip was a dream! Probably one of my top favorite family trips ever. Keewaydin Island is a place where you can get away from town and enjoy all of the peace and wildlife Florida has to offer. The house was so cozy and comfortable for my family. During the day we enjoyed the beach and mangroves, while at night we played cards and listened to the waves from the porch while cooking. This is a special place and we will cherish the memories forever!

Staying at Mike’s home was an exceptional experience that far surpassed my expectations. The house was cozy, full of character, and incredibly comfortable—perfect for a visit to Keewaydin Island.Each morning, we started our day with breakfast before heading to the breathtaking, expansive beach, just a short stroll from the house. The beach was serene, nearly empty, and stretched on endlessly, offering us hours of peaceful walks surrounded by stunning scenery and abundant wildlife. The sense of tranquility and seclusion was truly unmatched.Evenings were spent cooking delicious meals and unwinding in the calm atmosphere of the property. The new TV added a nice touch to our relaxed nights. Exploring the island with the UTV was a highlight—it made discovering everything Keewaydin has to offer both easy and enjoyable. I also brought along my fishing gear and had great success—the fishing was outstanding.This stay was deeply restorative and unforgettable. A wonderful destination and a fantastic host. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Best Kept Secret

Part of me hates writing this because I'd like to keep this gem all to myself, however, Mike deserves this review! This might be my favorite rental ever. Talk about peace and tranquility. The cottage has everything one needs and is very comfortable. The screened porch is a bonus and the use of the mule(the machine not the animal;) is a double bonus! If you are looking to unplug and even if you're not, I highly recommend this rental. Mike is a true pleasure to work with. So accommodating and available.

Truly one of a kind!

Family of 6:14,14,16, and parents. We stayed for 7 days and would have stayed longer if not for school! Starlink available, but our kids all had so much fun that they hardly touched their phones! As a mom it was fantastic because the kids could swim, tan, explore, shell, hammock, corn hole, cook, read…no cars just literally 20 steps from the door! Instapot, griddle, kettle, grill toaster oven all in fantastic working condition! Top rated sunsets for the USA according to many reputable travel websites. AC and outdoor shower under the stars! Owner is fantastic and extremely knowledgeable if you need anything! Have Instacart deliver groceries and you are set! You see maybe 5 people a day on the beach and they are never closer then 1/2 mile. It is truly magical!

A truly UNIQUE and PRIVATE Getaway

To say this property is a "unicorn" would be an understatement. You truly feel as though you have gone back in time with the simple things in life, but without giving up modern day conveniences. The beach cottage, VERY private beach, sunsets, and overall setting were magnificent. Rent a boat and you are within 20-30 minutes of everything else you need (dining, shopping, etc). The owner is fantastic to work with, and I would have given him 10 stars if I could. This property is off the grid, so you need to be willing to live a little. If you are looking for absolute privacy, with modern day conveniences, then this is the place for you. One of kind experience! THANK YOU MIKE!

We stayed for one of the best vacation weeks of our lives. We rented a boat for the week from dolphin cove marina, and when we were not enjoying fishing off the dock or swimming and exploring the beautiful beach on the gulf of America, we took the boat to several nearby beaches where they had ice cream boats, hamburger boats, beer boats, etc. We also took the boat to several nearby boat up restaurants, where we could dock and dine. We saw dolphins every day except one, even saw a manatee. The house was perfect, super comfortable, the outdoor shower was awesome. This rental is worth every penny, a true gem. The mule was a great help to transport luggage back and forth to the beach and to transport kids and all the beach gear.

It will be exciting to see the reactions as we hope we have captured all of the charm that comes from the history of our paradise home. The previous owners for over 73 years handed us not only the keys but the inspiration to create a magical place for family to connect and be free in nature with one another.

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for a true Florida experience and a complete get away...this is it. There are only 12 homes on the entire 8 mile stretch of sand and tranquility is easy to come by here. At some points you may be the only ones on the entire island. The south end of the island is about 3 miles away and boasts a unique family/party scene which on weekends can see as many as 500 boats that park on the sandbar and hang out for the day. You would never know it from the home though and that is what makes this so unique. This is truly a boating paradise. Fishing for snook off the beach or seeing tarpon rolling a few hundred feet off the beach will get any and all anglers excited from little kids to adults alike.
