Overview of Site
The house was big enough for 8 of us to stay. We never thought to check the listing when we booked so see if there was Air Conditioning, we just assumed there would be. We were there on the hottest days of the summer and the lack of air was difficult to handle. There were several fans provided but they were just moving hot air around. The basement was cooler but smelled very musty. The listing led us to believe it was on a lake and the picture made it look like a cottage on a lake but it is a house in the woods. Couldn't see a lake anywhere. It would have been nice to have some tea towels and wash cloths to help us clean up dishes. There were plenty of bath towels. Didn't expect to have to take our garbage and recyclables with us as we were in 2 seater cars convertibles with not much room. The main bathroom shower drain would not empty very quickly and needs to be cleaned out. There was a nice big kitchen and dining room with table. Living room had a nice couch and we pulled chairs over from the dining room to accommodate 8 of us. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean.Communication with the owner was good and access to the house was easy with the code which was provided.

Thank you for your stay and for your feedback. We’re happy you found the cottage clean, spacious, and comfortable for your group, and that check-in and communication went smoothly.
Just to clarify :
The cottage does not have air conditioning, as noted in the listing, but we provide several fans, and the walk-out lower level is naturally cooler. Dehumidifiers are kept running downstairs to manage Muskoka’s natural humidity — during this stay they were switched off by guests, which is why a musty smell developed.
The property is set in a peaceful forest setting and is not a private lakefront; photos reflect the beautiful surroundings of the area, but we’ll make sure this is even clearer in the listing.
We provide plenty of bath and kitchen towels.
The bathtub drain issue would have been quickly addressed had we been informed during the stay — we encourage guests to reach out right away so our local plumber can assist.
Garbage removal is standard practice for cottages in this region, though we understand it can be inconvenient for smaller cars.
We appreciate your comments and will continue improving. Thank you again for choosing our cottage — we’re glad you enjoyed the clean space, big kitchen, and comfortable beds.

Not enough value for the amount paid
The location of the cottage was nice, not on lake but close to beach. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of dishes, cutlery, and cookware. The linen, bedsheets, and comforters were cozy and nice, and the rooms were spacious. The washrooms were adequate.
The biggest issue occurred on our checkout day when a power outage began at 9 AM. This seemed to be a scheduled outage, though it’s unclear if the host was aware of it beforehand. Due to the power outage, there was no water supply, leaving us without water for three hours. We had to make multiple trips to Walmart to use the washrooms. We were dissapointed that the host lacked any consideration. He didn't inquire if we were okay or express any concern about the outage. Not a single apology was offered. This disruption did ruin our plans to visit a nearby site, as we couldn't shower, cook breakfast etc. The cottage did not have air conditioning, and we arrived on a hot and humid day. Although there were fans in each room, it was still very uncomfortable during the day. We were a group of 12, but there were not enough outdoor chairs in the backyard, we were charged extra, seems to be an oversight on the host's part. Additionally, the listing mentioned a foosball table in the game room, but it wasn't there when we arrived. There was no information about the garbage disposal process in the listing. This was provided near the checkin date to dispose at a landfill site which was extra charges. Will not be booking again.
