Raven house, one of two houses on the property, is a romantic, historic homestead cabin built in the 50's. It is a special get-a-way for a romantic weekend or a creative recharge.
There is an indoor fireplace, hot tub, fire pit, back patio, yoga deck, two outside bath tubs, and view of the outer rim of the park.
Close to town, near art galleries, shopping, restaurants and gas stations.
There is a laundry room available but will be shared with me.
The Raven house is simple, elegant and spacious. There is a mini split (air and heat) a fireplace, additional fans and small heaters and a washer dryer/laundry room outside the house but very close.
Appliances in the kitchen were bought for the house. There is a slow cooker, several kinds of coffee makers, toaster, blender and microwave. Spices, condiments, teas, and coffee are all available.
There is a fully equipped pantry with most items needed for cooking, including a good set of knives.
The light from the many windows fill the house during the day. You can shut the blinds or let the sun in. The window in the kitchen has a view straight to the park.
This property is always being upgraded for comfort, beauty and sustainability. I have added a love seat convertible twin bed, the Steve Rieman sculpture out front and I am currently working on the grounds adding gardens and other amenities that will be posted as they are finished. A hot tub is on the back patio and a hammock near by the yoga deck. Two outdoor bathtubs are set up for the summer.
The house is on 5 acres and feels very private but it is next door to my house and it is in a neighborhood. The road is close and there are cars. Overall, it is quiet, private and extremely peaceful. Everything is set up for you to have a memorable experience.
You have full access to everything in the Raven house and the outside laundry room. The door is unlocked. You are sharing the laundry room with me. I use it for the Raven house laundry so I'm in there often.
Please let me know when you want to use is it and I will accommodate you and sanitize it for you.
You are welcome to walk the property at any time.
Other things to note The Raven house is on a dirt road and it can be rough on your car. Drive slowly and you will be alright. Sometimes there are very fast drivers. Please take caution entering or leaving the property. There is also a water meter in the ground outside of the guest gate. Swing wide to avoid running over it. The Raven house is to the right and the Magnolia house is to the left. There is plenty of space to park close to the house. When you turn onto Calle Los Amigos from Sunburst pull to the right and drive carefully. There is a telescope in the house that you can take outside to see the stars.

It was perfect for us. The home and yard were lovely. We especially enjoyed our morning coffee on the patio watching the local wildlife of quail, rabbits and chipmunks.
We had everything we needed and were very happy. We hope to come back one day. Thank you Hilary!

Thank you for your review. It was lovely hosting you.
We stayed at Hilary’s for the first day of our honeymoon national park road trip. Everything was beyond perfect. The hot tub was clean and hot, as was the bathroom. Multiple types of caffeine in the morning. A firepit and fireplace, telescope, bathrobes. We can’t say enough good things about this location and host. Thank you for such a wonderful time.

About the host
Hosted by Hilary Sloane
I'm a journalist, local radio reporter and photographer. I love Joshua Tree and its unique artist community. I travel a lot around the area and know it well. I can help you find anything you need or give you the history. I'm quiet and private and other than feeding the wild critters or watering you probably won't see me.
Why they chose this property
I'm close to Town but far enough away to enjoy quiet and privacy on a five acre parcel. The park is fifteen minuets away, town is five minutes.
What makes this property unique
Even though I'm close the property feels remote and private. It is peaceful and beautiful anytime of the year. There is a remote country feeling but easy access to gas stations and stores.
