About this property

The ultimate basecamp for hiking, skiing, biking, fishing and more!

Evans Notch Lodge is a modest, rustic, 1930's-era group vacation property that is perfect for gathering your friends and family (or framily!) for outdoor fun in a peaceful corner of the White Mountains. Formerly a roadside cabin/motor court, the Lodge is now a full-property group vacation rental steps away from the Wild & Androscoggin Rivers, just 10 miles from both Bethel, Maine and Gorham, NH.

Epic fly-fishing, hiking, biking, paddling, campfires and swimming holes galore will keep you busy in the warmer months, but the winter is just as much fun - Evans Notch Lodge is conveniently located just minutes from downhill resort skiing (Sunday River, Wildcat, Mt. Abram), backcountry glade skiing, groomed nordic and fat bike trail systems, and thousands of wooded acres for snowshoe exploration.

When the weather (or the company) dictates indoor pursuits, Bethel has fantastic restaurants and cafes, food trucks, quaint shops, a movie theater, a bowling alley, the Steam Mill Brewery and the Maine Mineral Museum, just for starters. Gorham (NH) is another great stop for standout restaurants, ATV rentals, Big Day Brewing, and the AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center.

The unique layout of Evans Notch Lodge allows your group to spread out and enjoy as much privacy or togetherness as you want. Property rental includes five sleeping rooms with en suite bathrooms in the 'long house' year-round, and in warmer weather (June-mid-October) we add on two sleeping cabins with en suite bathrooms, all with their own separate entrances. The main Lodge building houses the fully-appointed kitchen and a large 'great room' with a dining area, cozy wood stove, and plenty of comfy spots to hang out.

In nice weather, after a quick dip in the river across the street, you can enjoy happy hour in the screened gazebo, or explore our seven wooded acres out back. During ski season, when you're done ripping runs at Sunday River, Wildcat, Mt. Abram or the nearby backcountry glades, you can meet up with your xc/snowshoeing pals and enjoy a warm fire together in the main Lodge. Games, puzzles, books, maps and area information are provided to help you get the most out of your trip - whether that's the most trail miles or the most relaxation!

We hosted our micro-wedding at ENL & had the best experience. Jen was the kindest and most attentive host. The property was warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean, well kept and bigger than expected. The cabins especially were adorable. It had exactly the New England energy you’d expect in a small mountain town. We had to pivot from an outdoor reception to indoor due to a rainstorm and the lodge was big enough for us all and the main table was perfect for gathering with all guests. I would extremely recommend staying here, especially for couples looking for a small venue space. The river across the street and Emerald pool were a huge hit with our guests. The weekend was filled with campfires, dancing, a wedding and a lot of great memories. We can’t wait to come back some day & stay at our wedding location!

What a great place! Our extended family has been trying places all over New England, and were still in search of the place we thought we might want to come back to every year. We ended up at Evan's Notch Lodge this year only because we had waited too long to book and it was the most equi-distant for all of us among the few places remaining that could hold all of us. We weren't sure what to expect. As it turns out, we loved Evans Notch Lodge! The lodge building was much roomier than we had expected, and it was wonderful to have a really well-stocked kitchen that could accommodate multiple people. The dining and living areas were big and comfortable, with a dining table more than big enough for all of us. We had beautiful weather but speculated that we would not have been unhappy to have been trapped in the lodge by rain; it was big enough and well-supplied with fun games, activities, and kids' toys. The rooms/cabins and beds were cozy, neat, clean, and well supplied with spotless linens and towels. Mattresses were comfortable. The surrounding area is gorgeous and the opportunities for outdoor exploration seem endless. And I can't say enough about the host. Jen was incredibly responsive, helpful, and kind, and generous with information. This place is a real win. (The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars for cleanliness is that the vintage and character of the place prevent it from being as spotless as people might expect from more modern accommodations.)

New Year’s Reunion

This is a fantastic place. It is exactly as advertised, and the common spaces were even bigger than expected. It was perfect for our five families to gather comfortably, cook meals together and explore this amazing region of the White Mountains. Our host, Jen, was really responsive and accommodating. We’ll be back!
