Adequate experience

Appreciated the stay and the hospitality from Gio. A few notes to share: The space could benefit from some minor work - the couch had a broken corner spot, there was no detergent for the washing machine (so all the dishes that had been put away had only been ‘rinsed’ and we’re quite greasy and dirty from the previous guests), and the stairs going to the unit are a bit uneven as noted by a previous guest. The other important note is that the road noise and train is quite loud (horn and rattling) throughout the night - so advisable to bring earplugs and it would be lovely if the owners added white noise machines to the bedrooms. Great table for meals and games, great deck and view, great open area inside, great loft, appreciated two bathrooms. Thank you for the stay.

A beautiful Indian Summer Stay

We stayed for 3 nights. It is a very relaxing apartment especially since it was end of the season. So no people around only sometimes the train coming over the bridge. But you can get used to that as well. It is a good thing starting point for day trips to the places and not historical sites in the neighborhood

Constant Annoyances

My family and I recently stayed here for about a week. It's on old house which isn't a problem. But there was a safety issue with the stairs. The first few steps are unstable and the post at the bottom isn't even touching the ground. So the first few steps are really shaky. The stairs are also unevenly spaced the whole way up. That aside the inside of the house was okay. There was dust in places but the majority of the living area was clean enough. Most of the windows have holes in the screens and broken latches. The sliding glass door doesn't lock. Repairs need to be made. All of this would have been okay at the least but the main problem with our stay was that the fire alarms kept going off for no reason! The first time was at 1am and woke my family up in a panic. It happened again at 3am the same morning. We contacted the host and they said to remove the batteries which is against the law and very unsafe. He eventually sent out the handyman, all he did was replace the batteries, did nothing about the actual alarms. So this whole process repeated itself. The alarms went off again without reason! No one in the house was cooking they just go off randomly. So we had no choice but to remove the batteries so that we could at least get some sleep which is a huge safety hazard as I have pointed out already. This place needs some repairs before it can be listed as a nice place to stay.

Safety issues and dirty

Beautiful view and wildlife. Window ac in bedrooms, not main living area. Difficult to cool down. Plugged in a night light and blew the power for the entire upper floor. GFI painted over. Mouse poop all under grill. Board missing on deck with nails sticking out of rail. Uneven stairs to gain access to unit. Safety concerns.

Shortened stay

The listing was accurate regarding the air conditioning being only in the bedrooms. In the summer heat, the main room, kitchen and other areas we're uncomfortably warm.

Family friendly experience

We loved the amount of space the house has. Very cleaned and neat. We also liked that it came with everything specially in the kitchen. Cleaned towels, comfortable beds, nice view. Good parking and most of all we enjoyed the e kayaking and water bikes. Overall we had an amazing experience as a family including kids.

Weekend De-stresser

The building is unusual, a converted marine shop, but its location on the Esopus offered great light and views. It's a spacious spot and easy to get anywhere in the area from it. We loved the rumble of freight trains that transit the trestle in the photo. Comfy beds, nice deck. The host was really helpful. We'd do it again.

A great view

We were lucky enough to get a snowfall our first night, so we woke up to a spectacular view of the bridge and river valley covered in snow. The view was certainly the best part of this stay. This apartment is clean and simple with a functioning smart TV and some basic cooking materials. But it's very bare - basically no decoration, with just 1 long modular couch (little sections) and a good long kitchen table with seats. In the great room, with the view of the train trestle there were also blinds covering large windows that we wanted to let the view in with, but couldn't figure it out. We ended up moving the couch to be in front of the sliding glass doors to enjoy the views all weekend. Basically I would just say be forewarned that there's not a lot of comfy lounging space, but there is a lot of room.

Trains and Boats and more!

Eclectic spot near the Hudson on the water with a active train bridge nearby. Kayaks and boat rentals on the property. Enjoy water and train views from a large deck off of a giant living area. Fast internet and adequate facilities will make this a memorable stay. The host is great as is nearby Kingston with great food and a boat tour. With the trains the water the town the deck it is a spot like no other. Enjoy!
