About this property

Scenic, Comfortable, 3bdrm Riverfront Retreat! #3

About this space
Welcome to the Huron River retreat! We have 100’ on the Huron River! We have a fire pit, 3 kayaks, a canoe and a dock! The apt. has 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with 1 King, 1 queen and 1 full bed. The location is PERFECT! You are right off the freeway and within walking distance to many conveniences! Detroit is about 20 minutes away and Monroe is about 15 minutes away. You’re about a 1/2 hr. from Toledo & less than 5 miles from Beaumont Hospital & Fermi! CLOSE TO METRO PARK, STATE LAND, HUNTING/FISHING!!
The space
We've just added a beautiful 10' x 14' gazebo with two picnic tables down by the river for our guests to enjoy!

WE NOW HAVE AT&T STREAMING CABLE!! Go to the Roku Home Screen and go to the Direct Tv app!! We’ve also updated our Wi-Fi!

We just love how convenient the apartment is! It’s the best of both worlds! The backyard has a very “up North” feel. There are all kinds of wildlife including geese, ducks, groundhogs, and many deer that come into the yard! Right across the river is state land-it’s great to go across the river and explore the woods!

We have a large parking lot that can accommodate most boats! It’s only 10 miles from Fermi!! You have two parking spaces.

You are right by Pointe Mouillee State Game Area and Lake Erie Metropark! Bring your bikes for some wonderful trails. GREAT FISHING!! However, you are two doors away from a Marathon convenience store, three doors away from The River Village restaurant-GREAT food at very good prices, especially their early bird breakfast, and about a half mile away from the local Huron River Inn, a charming little local bar with great bar-b-que and fish!

The renovated apartment has three bedrooms. It's approximately 1000 sf! The living/dining/kitchen Area has brand new gray bamboo flooring. NEW mid-century modern chair and comfy gray NATUZZI leather sofa!! There’s a 40” Roku tv with Netflix. The bathroom has been completely renovated.

There is a panoramic view of the river from the living area. The kitchen has plenty of pots and pans and we hope that you will find all of the essentials that you need. Please feel free to ask any questions!

You are welcome to use our kayaks, however, you must take full responsibility for them and put them back the way that you found them. You must let us know when you’re taking them out and take a picture of them upon their return. All outdoor amenities are first come, first served; there are four total condos. The paddle boat is not available. The current is usually too strong for it.

Please be aware that you are on a relatively busy street, and although the yard feels as though you’re up north, the road traffic can get noisy. However, we’ve added really nice white noise machines to all three bedrooms!

Extra blankets are in the closets. We have many feather/down pillows. If you have allergies more regular pillows are in the master bedroom closet.

We’re told that the building is the original general store!
It is a very large old building and it was renovated into four condos. Consequently, it’s not a typical apartment building and there are no shared walls. There is a hallway separating all the units. However, please still be conscious that others are in the building.

FYI, We are still working on landscaping; although most of it is complete.

Please note that code requires that all smoke detectors to be hard-wired and all apartments are inter-connected, i.e., if one sets off, they all do.

Most importantly, please enjoy the beautiful river and our guest spaces as much as we hope you will!!
Your hosts,
Paul and Elayne Petrucci
Guest access
You are free to use the kayaks, but please put them back and be VERY CAREFUL. We ask that only ADULTS go into the basement! It’s a storage and work area and has many tools and such and it’s not necessarily safe for children. Please do not use the laundry facilities between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm when housekeeping will need to have access to it. Also, please provide your own laundry soap; it will be too difficult to keep
Track of and we need to make sure we have it for check outs.
Other things to note
The steps going up are high and steep.

This is a waterfront property. Please watch your children at all times.

Bring bug spray!

Please be aware that the condos are being worked on and there may be materials/supplies, etc., in the basement areas.

Again, we are on a relatively busy street, although the back yard feels as though you’re up north. Many guests aren’t bothered by this, but be aware of it. We let you know, and we’ve added white noise machines. I’m uncertain what more we can do. We humbly request that you not mark us down because of it.

Note that the living room can get cold/hot because of the large windows. In the summer, we recommend that you close the bamboo shades if the air doesn’t cool it off enough. And in the winter, the fireplace is a heater. The switch is on the bottom under the metal door. Push on the door at the top to open it, and push the toggle switch to turn it on. The new wall unit is a heater/air-conditioner.

There’s a saucer chair in the master bedroom closet if you want an extra seat.

NOTE: Stays over two weeks: In order to maintain the property and for your convenience, we provide our housekeeping service. We pay for one bi-monthly cleaning. However, we highly recommend weekly cleanings and offer it at our cost. Please inquire!

My husband, Paul and I bought this property back in 2012 and it took until 2019 to obtain the certificate of occupancy! It was a labor or love...or we just took a little bit too much time enjoying the river with friends and family! We love meeting our guests from all over the world! We often host families who've moved away and are visiting relatives and friends. We also often host workers who would like a nice, comfortable alternative to a cramped, characterless hotel room. Paul is retired and I'm a current English and Theatre teacher in a Detroit suburb. We hope that you and your friends and family enjoy the beautiful river and area as much as our friends and family with four lively granddaughters do!

Why they chose this property

We absolutely love this area because of the incredible convenience, safety and up north feel!

What makes this property unique

Our property has the convenience of city-living, with stores, restaurants and the freeway right there....but when a guest steps into the backyard, he or she will feel as though they've been transported up north!
