Remote Retreat :)

We loved this little cabin and its perfect views! It was super cozy for a quiet getaway. There are lots of really neat books in the cabin about the area and wildlife and we loved looking through them. Sunrises in the morning are gorgeous from every window. The Meadow Mountain Cafe nearby in Allenspark is adorable and has great breakfast! Note: the VRBO listing mentions a store where you can get cinnamon rolls about a mile from the cabin - it is CLOSED and boarded up so be sure you buy everything you need before getting all the way out to the cabin. It's a long drive to get necessities and there is no cell phone signal for GPS until you get about 15 min away from the house. ;)

Songbird pond was the perfect place to rest and relax for our vacation to the Rocky Mountains

I have never been to this area and looking through reviews Beth’s cabin was perfect for my husband myself and our two teenage children. The information about the cabin was accurate. Payments , check in was super easy . Beth was available to answer questions. Her info and welcome packet actually answered any questions. The cabin was comfortable. We spent most of our day and evening hiking in the mountains. But the surroundings of the cabin were so beautiful we spent all our mornings at the cabin. The bird watching was wonderful . We loved the hummingbirds. Baby rabbits ran across the deck . The sunrise with the unbelievable view of the mountains was outstanding . Beth had the cabin so well stocked with linens and anything you could need. My son and I enjoyed exploring the property. My son also enjoyed the xylophone. The kids played the numerous games and ping pong .Plus Beth left many suggestions for things to do . My children enjoyed horseback riding at the Meeker Stables as recommended. I enjoyed all the books and the history of the area helped with sightseeing in the area. I was blessed to see a pair of Elk one morning . If I able to travel to this area again I will definitely stay at this cabin again. Beth , thank you for sharing your cabin . It is far enough away to keep you out of the crowds and close enough you don’t miss a thing . Just a wonderful experience.

A peaceful break

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The aspens were beautiful, we saw moose, elk, a coyote and a deer, and enjoyed watching the snow fall while staying warm by the fire.

Peaceful,comfortable log cabin

We loved it. Husband and 2 adult children spent 3 nights. Plenty of room, very homey. Fantastic views. A bull moose strolled by the pond first evening. Heard male elk bugle at night. Great sky views at night also. Good hiking nearby at Wild Basin. Would definitely go back.

Perfect away from it all cabin with a gorgeous view of Mt. Meeker

This cabin was just what we were looking for. We enjoyed the serenity of the location, all the nature and the beautiful view of Mt. Meeker from the living room picture window. Beth was quick to answer questions and seems like a lovely person. We saw a baby bunny, chipmunks, lots of birds and even a coyote on our drive out. We will be bookmarking this cabin for future stays!

Country quietness and cozy cabin

We loved staying here ! Great place to lay your head at night after exploring Estes and RMNP( Rocky Mountain national park) . We cooked dinner every night with a few exceptions and kids loved the chess board and ping pong table. ! Fit our family of 5 very comfortably. It's only 10 mins from Estes so it's easy to get to town if need be. And the Wild Basin area is only a mile or so down the road. So very conviently located. No TV. Internet is limited ! Which we found as a A plus plus plus benefit. A true disconnection from our hectic lives. !! Owner communicates well through email. I wouldn't hesitate renting this if you like country quietness and a cozy place to lay your head :) A true home base after a fun day of hiking! Oh. There is a pot for boiling water. But not a regular coffee pot So if you are spoiled rotten to the core ( like me ) bring a spare coffee pot so you can have it brewing when you wake up to the pristine views of Mt Meeker. You may not want to leave ! We sure wished we could have stayed longer.

great location and amazing view from the cabin

This is a pleasant and peaceful place to stay, with accessibility to RMNP trails within minutes, and only a short drive to smaller towns (Allenspark) or larger (Estes). Great amenities, and loved the spring water option from nearby Allenspark. Laundry onsite, full kitchen, and plenty of space for our family of five. Beautiful location and well worth the visit.

Just What We Were Looking For

Perfect place for a family getaway, but still close enough to various vacation activities in the area to please everyone. The cabin is lovely in its own right, but made even better by its location, with stunning vistas of Mt. Meeker, the Twin Sisters, and the rest of the valley. Our kids (15, 13, 11) were a little worried about the lack of cell coverage, TV, etc., but the beauty of the place, the ping-pong table, and games easily won them over. It was great for us all to unplug from electronic screens that whole week. The valley is rich with wildlife, and we saw elk, moose, lots and lots of birds, and even (from a bit of a distance) a young black bear. Thank you for making this wonderful place available for visitors. We loved it, and certainly hope to return someday.

Quiet, remote, beautiful resting place

Thank you for opening your cabin to renters like ourselves and sharing the beautiful surroundings with us. We had a great adventure at your cabin and RMNP. We did a hike everyday and saw so much wildlife and beauty. We enjoyed each others company as a family playing Clue and ping pong and talking about the bear visit :) If, more like when we come back, your cabin will be our first choice as home base. Thank you for all the special touches - quilts, books, fireplace supplies, french press, maps, hiking guides, photographs of your aunt. What a truly special place! Everything was clean and in working condition. We loved having a washer and dryer at our disposal. The layout was perfect for our family of 5 and everyone was comfortable and warm with the ample supply of blankets and sheets and pillows. We didn't explore too much of the property due to the tall grass but enjoyed the pond and fire pit. We had a fire outside one night and a couple fires in the Franklin stove other evenings. We got to see lots of wildlife, including a coyote chasing a deer, lots of birds, rabbits, ground squirrels and even a momma bear with 2 cubs. When we did have questions, Beth was quick to reply and provide sound advice and tips, sometimes within minutes of emailing her. I would definitely recommend this cabin to our friends and family and we ourselves hope to return one day. Our favorite restaurant in Estes Park was Ed's Cantina - the fish tacos and bison enchiladas were out of this world! A visit to the Eagles Plume trading post is a must at the end of Big Owl Drive. The owners and their wares are wonderful, and full of history.

Unplugged in heaven

This cabin was a little slice of heaven. Our family of three (including 9 yr old child) stayed for 5 nights and though we hiked and explored every day, we would have been just as happy (maybe happier) staying at the cabin all day. The views are spectacular! The cabin was very well appointed with cooking utensils & spices. The hummingbirds are AWESOME! We loved feeling them whiz by our head when we were outside or watching them from comfy chairs inside. The little chipmunk family and bunnies were also fun to watch. It felt like such a special and authentic experience from within the huge stacks of logs or sitting on the porch taking in the glorious views. The ping pong table, games, instruments and art supplies were a fun bonus. It seemed every nook and cranny was stuffed with entertainment. I almost wanted it to rain so we could stay inside in front of the fire. We will most definitely be back and will forward this place to friends and family. We feel so appreciative to have found this hideaway and so blessed that the owners share this place!

Awesome family vacation.

The cabin and land was very well maintained. Beautiful views all around the property. We saw a moose, several elk and even a black bear (very early one morning). Loved filling bird feeders and watching the hummingbirds. Boys fished in the little pond (didn't catch anything-but had fun) and explored the creek. We loved not having the distractions of internet and tv. We could always log back in when we were in Estes. This is a beautiful place.

Highly Recommend

Listing very accurate. I would absolutely return, and recommend to others. I hope they still rent it out when I retire so I can go back for a month!! The property was clean, and the kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. We went to Indian Peaks or RMNP everyday. The cabin was in a great location for hikes in both places. Must take a dip in the swimming hole...really cold, but oh so invigorating! Beth was prompt with her communication, and answered questions. Beautiful property.

Perfect retreat!

While this cabin is close to trails and activities, I didn't go off the property because being there was so perfect. The cabin is comfortable and so quiet and peaceful. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. Views from the bedroom invite lazy mornings and the living room invites curling up with a book or family card game. I sat on the porch watching the sun on the mountain and the pond while reading for hours. A chilly dip in the creek's "swimming hole" was so refreshing. Treat yourself to this wonderful cabin in a beautiful location.

Beautiful cabin in a stunning location

The photos are for real -- Mt. Meeker fills the view from the living room window. The cabin is beautifully built and nicely decorated, and with the loft it's quite spacious. The location is unbeatable -- reasonably near Estes Park if you need to get there for supplies, far enough away tha the hordes of tourists are nowhere in sight. Highly recommended.

Great Place

Imagine coming from the low lands, The Netherlands, staying in the Rockies is overwhelming. We can't think of a better place starting your Rockies adventure than this great cabin. We hope to visit again in the future. The cabine has a wonderful atmosphere and a gorgeous view. You feel at home immediately. We can highly recommend this property.

Beautiful location, great cabin

We stayed in this cabin in August of 2010 for 5 days. It is a great location - close to town and the national park but off the road enough to be very quiet. The pond and creek are fun to play in and the cabin itself is really pretty and very comfy and spacious. Highly recommended!

Peac, quiet and comfortable

This cabin hits it on all cylinders - clean and comfortable in a fabulous setting. The log cabin itself has a charming wild west feel, with big peeled logs and a soaring cathedral ceiling. Extra amenities include a polished cork floor (the color and feel of smooth, worn leather). Best of all: unimpeded views of Long's Peak! The cabin is close to great trails in RMNP and elsewhere. I stayed in the winter, and found it warm and cozy and easy to access. I highly recommend it.

We are a family of four from Denver. My husband and I enjoy being active outdoors, and cooking big meals. Our adult children enjoy relaxing in the cabin, and hiking/ biking/ playing nearby. We spend summers river rafting and traveling as much as possible.

Why they chose this property

This is a sort of hidden corner of paradise on the Front Range - only 80 minutes from Denver (45 from Boulder) but very peaceful, dark night sky (stars!) and relatively untraveled, with lots of wildlife and great things to see and do. It's a nice alternative to the I-70 corridor mob scene and not too far from town if you need supplies. Great antique and coffee shops nearby.

Cabin is just four miles (in either direction) from the Wild Basin entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Long's Peak Trailhead, and has great hike and bike options out the front door, as well.

This is a quiet community of mostly summer residents, but is great to visit year-round. Ours is one of a few year-round weatherized houses in the area, and is bright and comfortable. The Meeker Park Lodge just up the road is open in the summer, and offers a small shop, square dancing, horseback riding and movies.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is one of the newer places in the area - built in 1994 from old logs, with an open floor plan and furnished with eclectic comfortable furniture and antiques. The floors on the first floor are cork, with colorful rugs. The large sitting room and open kitchen/ eating area are the heart of the house, with a high ceiling and picture windows. Upstairs is a large loft that includes ping-pong, a writing desk and a sectional/sofa bed. In the rear downstairs are two comfortable bedrooms and bathroom, with tub, shower and washer/ dryer. A large deck has adirondack chairs and an outdoor dining area.

Most of the houses in the area are in the woods. Ours was built in a meadow with a pond and creek. From the front picture windows and large deck (also visible from the loft) the views are unparalleled. Both Mt. Meeker (the south side of Long's Peak) and the Twin Sisters area of the national park are visible, and change constantly with the light and the season.

Pond is not fishable/swimmable but attracts a lot of wildlife. Creek is small but may be fished or played in. There are many trailheads nearby! Maps & guides to plants, animals and trails are provided in the cabin, as are binoculars.

This is a family cabin that we use regularly, but open to renters when possible. It is intentionally rustic – intended for restful getaways from city living. The water comes from a well, and drinking water is provided in large jugs through a separate dispenser. There is no television, though there is wifi sufficient for streaming on your own devices, should you choose. There is no cell phone service at the cabin though most phones function through the wifi signal. There is a hard wired phone for local calls and emergency use.

Being in a meadow means that the home occasionally attracts flies, mice and other critters. We actively control for pests and strive to minimize the impact on our guests, but the rustic nature of the space is not a good fit for everyone.
