About this property

Beach front house on Lake Huron 10 Minutes to Port Austin!

Welcome to the Huron Bay House! Come stay in this fully renovated beautiful beach front home on a quiet bay on Lake Huron. Perfect for families with a sandy beach; it is located just 10 minutes east of Port Austin, 5 minutes from Grindstone City's famous homemade ice cream, and a 1/2 mile from Point Aux Barques Lighthouse that has a playground and park.
This three bedroom, two full bath home sleeps 9 and features a new King bed in every room as well as twins for the kids or additional guests. There are also smart TVs in every bedroom, but hope you’ll be too busy enjoying the natural surroundings to turn it on.
This house is full of light with views of the lake from nearly every room. Keep comfortable inside with opening the two large slider's to capture the breeze off the lake or use the AC and Heat to keep cozy to your liking.
Cook with a view of Lake Huron on all new stainless steel appliances and a well-stocked kitchen. Or cook outside on the 36" flattop grill on the large cement patio elevated for a great view of the beach and bay. There are plenty of options for outside dining with an oversized picnic table that can fit 10 as well as an additional dining set on the patio.
There is a fire pit on the beach and comfortable Adirondack chairs for all the guests. We have marshmallow roaster sticks for all the S’more making you could want (We don’t supply firewood at this time, but the campground at the Lighthouse park ½ mile down the road sells it as well as many neighbors).
There are plenty of spaces to enjoy a nap or good book as the mature trees on the property offer the prefect combination of privacy and shade on the large 1/2 acre lot (this allows for plenty of room for parking too).
For those rainy days or when you need a break from the sun the house has the garage set-up for ping-pong, art space for the kids to make a mess, yard games (ladder ball, corn hole, etc) and covered lounging.
***The bay we are located on is very shallow; you can walk out a football field’s distance on the sand bottom and only be chest deep. It can not accommodate prop boats; we have only seen kayaks, sail boats, jet-skis and flat bottomed fishing boats on it.
We have a 16ft dock, but do not dive off the dock as its only 2-3 ft deep at the end. Also please note the beach is always changing, some days its a full sandy beach at the shore break; sometimes there is a line of muck ( which is the main reason we have the dock and ladder at the end so you don't have to step through it). Good news is it can be gone over a wavy night or when the wind changes, but if it is present during your stay and muck bothers you may want water shoes or to walk down the beach a little bit to where its not. We do have an outside foot washing station for sandy feet or sandy paws***

Christmas getaway at Huron Bay
My family and I loved this newly remodeled home and beautiful outdoor property! Clean house, & great kitchen setup that was well supplied, new appliances, and it even had new pots that were in great condition. Enjoyed walking the beach. There was a nice stretch of sand to walk along, south of the house. North, the sand turned to rocks. Shallow water would have made for a great time walking out in the clean water, had it been summer. Beds were comfortable, with one bedroom on the first floor, great for people not interested in stairs. House had some provisions for kids with toys, sand toys, little life jackets, and pack n play, but as adults, we found their puzzles, ping pong table, and the fireplace very entertaining. Host was kind, welcoming, friendly and easy to communicate with. If I could give her VRBO more stars, Huron Bay and the host would deserve it! ❤️

The house and location are perfect. The water is shallow so I felt safe letting my children play while we sat on the patio. The yard is large for playing. The home is so comfortable and clean with the hosts having thought of everything! There is a fully stocked coffee bar, ingredients for S’mores, toys, games, TVs, kayaks, life jackets, an abundance of towels and dishes, spices, some kitchen staples ,every kitchen appliance and utensil you could ever need, two refrigerators, and more. The beds are heaven. So comfortable with luxurious linens. We felt spoiled. The communication with Christina was timely and super detailed. This is an exceptional property with fabulous hosts!

My husband Justin is a Michigan native and I was born and spent my early childhood in Hawaii before being raised in small town in Michigan. We both love the outdoors and spending time on the water with our two young kids and dogs. We were inspired in 2022 to the buy and renovate this home as the setting is so peaceful and for me it can feel like the ocean when you are standing on the beach (minus the salt of course). Even though we both do work, we are available to answer any questions you may have during your stay.

Why they chose this property

The Lighthouse road neighborhood is everything you want in an up North vacation. It starts with drive as you go through beautiful farm country to get here and avoid the traffic of I-75. Then once you are at the property it's on a quiet road, in a peaceful community, yet close to small towns with good restaurants and unique shops, and some great natural attractions like Turnip Rock or hiking at Port Crescent State Park.

What makes this property unique

Our property is all about being light and airy; our goal was to bring the blues hues of Lake Huron inside so that you can feel at peace whether you are in or out of the home. We want you to feel relaxed and make yourself at home while you stay. We are also a family orientated property with safety measures in place to keep Mom and Dad at ease that the kids are being safe (with plug protectors available, under-sink cabinets locked, risky items placed up high, and activities and spaces for the kids to get messy).
