Thanksgiving Fiasco: Beware of Overbooking and Unresponsive Management

I recently experienced a VRBO nightmare that turned our Thanksgiving into a disaster. Upon arrival at the property, we were shocked to find it already occupied by other guests. Attempts to contact the owner were futile; she was unreachable via text, phone, or the VRBO app. Several hours later, she responded with a flurry of inconsistent excuses: first claiming to be a victim of fraud, then blaming inaccurate listing details, and finally pointing fingers at VRBO for not cancelling the booking. This chaos left us stranded without accommodation on Thanksgiving. We had no choice but to book a last-minute hotel, resulting in a holiday dinner of fast food instead of a planned home-cooked meal. The response from VRBO was equally disappointing; their only solution was to suggest we stay at a hotel and submit receipts for reimbursement. I strongly advise against booking with this particular property manager and even VRBO itself. Their lack of accountability and poor crisis management ruined what should have been a memorable family holiday. Don't let your special occasions be compromised by such unprofessionalism.
