This was an excellent place to stay with plenty of room to park trucks and boats. Everything you could ask for and also only 5 minutes to the boat ramp and town. We had a great time!!!

The listing is accurate. It’s a farm hand starter. Very clean decorated in a mid century modern style. If you are looking to get away from it all, this place is great. Internet and cellular coverage were terrible at best, likely due to being away from the city center.

About the host

Franklin Aultman, Proprietor
Franklin was born and raised on Ten Horse Farm. His ancestors bought the property in 1912. The farm has been in the family for 5 generations. After a successful career in advertising in New York and Boston, Franklin and his wife decided to return to Ten Horse Farm and restore it to its former glory. The Guest House has been completely renovated inside and out. Updates have been made to the kitchen and bathrooms. The exterior and interior have been painted in colors selected by a renowned architectural colorist. The landscape around the Guest House, including the immediate grounds, adjacent pecan orchards, pastures and timberlands, is beautifully maintained. The original Planter's House, which shares the driveway with The Guest House, has been restored. The barn also has been restored and houses an array of farm equipment used to operate the farm. What is most memorable about visiting The Guest House and Ten Horse Farm is the abundance of wildlife, the beautiful landscape, the spaciousness and the quiet peacefulness.

Why they chose this property

The Guest House is situated just off the main driveway to the turn of the century Planter's House of Ten Horse Farm. The Guest House offers lots of space for multiple boats and vehicles and beautiful pastoral views of fields and orchards. The entire farm property is maintained as a wild life conservation area and has an abundance of wildlife. The Guest House is very private, peaceful and quiet. It is close to the town of Bainbridge (a mile from the city limit) yet feels away-from-it-all. The location is extremely convenient to the Bainbridge Boat Basin on the Flint River (less than10 minutes away) and to Lake Seminole. The Florida capital, Tallahassee, is a 50 minute drive and the beaches of the Gulf Coast are about a 1-1/2 hour drive.

What makes this property unique

Flint River and the Bainbridge Boat Basin is less than 10 minutes from Ten Horse Farm. There is plenty of space at The Guest House to park boats and vehicles. They are not visible from the road, not only because of the distance to the road but also because of the mature hedgerow along the road. Also, the vehicle parking area behind The Guest House is out of site from the lightly traveled driveway into the property - all of which ensures a sense of privacy, safety and quiet solitude. There are beautiful, well maintained pastoral views in every direction and you'll find The Guest House well appointed and comfortable from the modern kitchen appliances to the mid-century furnishing & art. Ten Horse Farm is a private wildlife conservation area. The wildlife at Ten Horse Farm includes resident birds, migratory birds, eagles, quail, wild turkey and deer that can be seen in the pecan orchard in front of The Guest House frequently at night. Hunting is not allowed at Ten Horse Farm and we actively implement forestry and agricultural programs that support and increase wildlife populations.

Ten Horse Farm is historic for many reasons. Not only was the farm one of the earliest to be established in the county, but many local farming techniques were first implemented here. During the turn of the century, the sizes of farms were not measured by how many acres it contained but rather by how many horses it took to farm the cultivated land. Thus the name Ten Horse Farm.
