About this property
Canopy Tent
★ A treehouse safari tent built for two, high in the trees.
Canopy is a canvas safari tent perched on a private deck in the treetops at Elk Hollow, one of the most secluded spots on the property. Guests keep calling it a treehouse, and that's the feeling: birdsong, swaying treetops, and the Smokies in the distance.
This is glamping, not camping. The walls are canvas, but the comforts aren't: a full kitchen, a spa-style bath, heat and AC, and keyless entry. You'll fall asleep to rain on the canvas and wake to the woods, which is the point.
The most-praised part is the soaking. A private hot tub on the deck looks into the mountains, and inside there's a spa-style soaking tub with a walk-in rainfall shower. Soak under the stars, soak out of the weather, soak twice in a day.
🛋️ INSIDE ➝ Open, airy layout with a bohemian feel: layered textiles, warm wood, pops of color ➝ Cozy sitting area and French doors that open to the forest ➝ Full kitchen, stocked for cooking in or just keeping the coffee close ➝ Heat + AC, year-round
🛏️ WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP ➝ Plush aspen log king bed with screened windows letting in cool mountain air ➝ Spa-style indoor soaking tub ➝ Walk-in rainfall shower ★ The hot tub, soaking tub, and rainfall shower are the things guests rave about most
🌲 OUTSIDE ➝ Expansive wraparound deck, elevated among the trees ➝ Private hot tub with mountain views, open year-round ➝ Fire pit for starlit evenings ➝ Gas grill and a covered lounge ➝ String lights overhead after dark
♥ WHO IT'S FOR Couples. Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet weekend off the grid. It sleeps two and is secluded by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house. First time staying in a tent? Guests tell us this is the one that changes their mind.
🚗 GETTING HERE The access road is steep with a turn along the way, so we recommend an AWD or 4WD vehicle, especially in rain. Plenty of guests make it in a 2WD, and there's a lower parking spot with a short uphill walk if you'd rather not drive the top. It's the trade for how private and elevated the tent feels. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.
➳ GOOD TO KNOW It's a canvas safari tent, so you'll hear the rain, the birds, and a bit more of the outdoors than a cabin. There are about seven steps to enter, three at the front and four at the back. It's glamping with a full kitchen, spa bath, and heat and AC, not roughing it, but the canvas and the steps are real and worth picturing before you book.

About the host
Hosted by Kendra Jackson
Hi, I'm Jeanetta, your host at Elk Hollow.
After 34 years in the rental industry, and with my husband Mike behind me the whole way, I built the retreat I'd always wanted to stay in. Elk Hollow sits a mile from the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on quiet ground with a stream running through it, hardwoods overhead, and wild turkeys and deer that turn up like they own the place. They kind of do.
What I care about is that you arrive and exhale. That you feel relaxed, safe, and at home, with more to do nearby than you'll have time for.
I'm happiest outdoors. I have two children, six grandchildren, and friends I've kept my whole life, and most of my favorite memories were made in these mountains. I hope you make some here too.
Come see us.
Why they chose this property
Canopy is the treehouse, and it's built for two.
A canvas safari tent perched high on a private deck in the treetops, one of the most secluded spots on the property. Towering hardwoods, a stream you can hear, wildlife passing through. Time slows down here.
Fall asleep to rustling leaves, wake to birdsong, and spend the evening in the hot tub with the fire going and string lights overhead. A spa soaking tub inside, a rainfall shower, and mountain views from the deck.
First time in a tent or your fifteenth getaway, Canopy is the one that makes people rethink glamping.
