The cabin appears quite new and was spotless. Bryson city is much smaller than Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge and has a much more laid back vibe. We felt that it was a great place to stay for visiting the Smoky Mountains. The kitchen is nicely stocked with all that you need to cook your meals. The host communicated clearly and responded promptly to questions. We would definitely stay at this property again!

Beautiful cabin and fabulous views. Love the decor in every room. Everything we needed in kitchen. Sitting on the porch listening to the sound of rain falling on the tin roof. The most relaxing 3 days hanging with my bestie. Talking from morning coffee to evening cocktails in the most wonderful little place. Will definitely be back.

Three girlfriends and I visited Bryson City for the first time and had a great time! Sleepy Oak Cabin was cute, clean, comfortable, and well stocked with items you might forget to bring. Best of all, it was so close to everything we wanted to do! We will definitely book this cabin again for any return trip to the area!

I’d give this 10 stars if I could…

Great base for my husband and I to explore the Smoky Mountains. 5-minute drive to the cute town of Bryson City with restaurants and a few shops. It’s walkable but you’ll have a steep hill coming home. Absolutely fantastic property where you feel like you’re in the woods. Extremely clean and the extras like little shampoo, shower gels, spices, K-cups, etc. were above and beyond—and greatly appreciated. Can’t wait to get back there soon for more R&R!

Immaculate!

The cabin was very clean and well appointed. Plenty of kitchen utensils to use, pots, pans and even a crockpot if you choose to have a meal waiting for you upon return from a day of fun. The hot tub was a wonderful respite after a long day at the Smokey Mountains National Park. We loved walking on the easy trails and being able to observe waterfalls. And our weather was phenomenal. We purchased a small pack of wood from the hutch at the top of the driveway using Venmo, so that was very easy and convenient. We made a fire in the fire pit and had s’mores one night. The king size bed was beyond comfortable! I would’ve stayed in it all weekend if I could have. Plenty of room for clothes if you’re staying for more than three nights. The only thing that wasn’t convenient was the trundle bed being used by an adult. You can’t move around in the bedroom when it’s out from under the bed. So our guest moved it into the laundry room. I would say it’s more of a three adults plus one teen or child cabin set up. All in all we had a wonderful time and would recommend Kelly and Chris’ cabin. They were very quick to respond to any questions I had and even made some excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to see. Don’t hesitate to book your stay here!

Incredible location right on the edge of town, with everything Bryson City has to offer literally within minutes. You feel like you’re tucked away in a quiet cabin but so close to town so it’s the best of both worlds. Cabin was very clean, & had pretty much everything you’d need already. Smart tv in living room & bedroom. Gas fireplace in living room. Spacious deck area with rocking chairs and a hot tub. Awesome fire pit.Things to do nearby that I highly recommend:-A must-do is the Deep Creek Waterfall loop that has 3 different waterfalls to checkout. The whole trail is only about 2.5 miles & very easy to do. It’s one of the most beautiful and scenic walks you will ever do in your life. And it’s free. -The Great Smokey Mountain Railroad train ride. Has beautiful views. I recommend the premium open air cart that lets you reserve your seats online and comes with lunch served in the train car.-The road/tunnel to nowhere is pretty neat and nearby with a beautiful drive to get there and a couple places to pull over along the way to see some beautiful views. Google the story behind it. And it’s free.-SOCO Falls is maybe 35 minutes away but it’s a beautiful drive and the waterfall is a short hike to get to and very beautiful. It’s free. Afterwards there’s a Harrah’s casino nearby in Cherokee, & a huge dispensary (if you’re into that).-Highly recommend making a dinner reservation at the Everett Hotel. The food was incredibly flavorful & very good cocktails.

Great location and beautiful views! It was in the mountains but close to the Nantahala National Forest. Cabin was very clean and kitchen was fully stocked. One change I would make is to have a sofa bed in the living room. We have 2 teenagers that don’t like to sleep in the same bed so one of them had to sleep on an air mattress. However, I knew that would be the case so I came prepared. We will definitely book again!

About the host

Hosted by Kelly and Chris

Host profile image
Hi everyone! My name is Kelly and I am from sunny Tampa Bay, FL. And although I love living in the sunshine state, every once in a while my family and I need a break from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. When we need some fresh mountain air, beautiful wilderness and some time to breathe, we head up to our cabin.

There are few places more majestic than the Great Smoky Mountains, or the quaint and cozy town of Bryson City. Between the day-to-day grind and our kids' endless activities, it's nice to have someplace to go to unplug and re-set.

We love visiting Bryson City and would be there all of the time if we could! In the meantime, my family and I are happy to share our little slice of heaven with you and yours. We hope that you enjoy it just as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

Bryson City is a charming small town that truly has it all. Nestled in the beautiful Smoky mountains, the walkable downtown area is sprinkled with quaint shops and restaurants. It is also home to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, which hosts different events and themed rides throughout the year. There is also a farmer's market, a small aquarium, and a fly fishing museum. There are three breweries in town, and a winery just a few miles from there. And for those who enjoy the nightlife, Harrah's Cherokee casino is located in the neighboring town of Cherokee.

Outdoor activities are endless in Bryson city. Where do I start? Surrounded by lakes, rivers, creeks and mountain trails, the possibilities of how you can spend your outdoor time are practically limitless. You can choose from hiking, biking, ATVing, fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, white water rafting, swimming, horseback riding, zip lining, elk viewing, golfing, skiing and snow tubing. Also, the Road to Nowhere is worth a visit (especially at night if you're very brave), and the Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most famous scenic drives in the US.

What makes this property unique

When your day of exploring downtown, riding on the train, taking scenic drives, fishing, hiking, tubing or whatever you decided to do is winding down, you get to go back and relax at the cabin. The home is sweet and cozy, especially with the fireplace lit. Feel free to have Alexa play your favorite music on the Echo Show while you take some time to relax. Don't forget to cook s'mores down at the fire pit, especially if you have little ones, because they always love that. And last but not least, make sure you enjoy some time in the hot tub. Personally, I find it best in the evening after all of your fun activities for the day are done.
