Has Potential...

If you like Glamping, this place is for you! GLAM: feel like an elite on your own island! Enjoy the deck with sunrise, and the firepit with a sunset. Revel in the beautiful lux house and cozy cottage! CAMP: be ready for the unexpected and some inconveniences. I believe this place has immense potential – but needs some more TLC and fixes before it can be a true 5-star rating. Right now, if you know what you’re getting into, and don’t mind it – it’s AMAZING. Glamp it up and enjoy all the best aspects of lake life! We’re told this is the first year for them, and they seem to be dealing with start-up issues. While the property manager, Regan, is responsive, not all issues could be fixed quickly. It feels like the property owners bit off more than they could chew and were preemptive in putting this listing on VRBO, but we believe this place will be a true luxurious gem once it’s fully ready. We had issues with the filtered water losing pressure, so were left with well water for drinking for a few hrs. The HVAC changed on its own at times - and some of the vents pumped hot air despite being set on cool. The water heater errored out, but once reset, we had hot water again for showers. Once, at 4am, smoke detectors in the cottage went off for no reason with no way to reach them on the high ceilings. A few rocks around the firepit cracked and exploded when our fire got really hot. But, with every issue brought up to Regan, she was quick to respond and try to help resolve issues.

Kate, thank you for your honest feedback! While we were reluctant to have your party of 60, I was hoping your wedding would go off without a hitch! I’m sad to see we didn’t hit our goal of 5 stars with you. We did get all issues resolved. We found that somebody must have put “fan” instead of “cool” on some of the thermostats. I’m glad we are knowledgeable of this now! Also, we are happy once reset, you had hot water- for as many people there, I’ve learned we aren’t set up for that many guests needing hot water at once! I’m very happy you chose our island though for the wedding, your photos were beautiful and everything else seemed to go smoothly!

Our stay exceeded expectations! In fact it was declared ‘the best vacation ever’ by many. It’s truly a unique property. Telling friends we had rented ‘an island’ was fun & having an entire island to ourselves was fabulous. We had 3 generations with 8 children ages 1-13. My son’s family with the 1 & 3 year olds stayed in the little house. The littles were in bed by 7 but a baby monitor (that they brought) transmitted easily to the main house allowing an evening of fun with no worry about noise! This was very unique - different from the large single houses we have rented previous summers. The island’s perimeter is very natural (stones and vegetation) - providing good fishing spots and a wonderful ‘fence’ to keep the younger ones away from the water’s edge. The spacious yard provided room for many family yard games. The lakeside deck with comfortable & functional tables & chairs became a popular gathering spot! The house is beautiful inside with an island large enough for family meals & grandchildren’s craft time. The kitchen was well equipped & 2 dishwashers and 2 washer/dryers were appreciated. A unique feature was the firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs. Nightly campfires & a breakfast cooked over the fire were amazing - a combination of modern convenience and being a part of nature. Lake activities were a delight - tubing and sunset cruises! We rented a pontoon from Spend-a-Day who kept a slip for our mainland trips. Overall a memorable week!!
