Sonesta is Old and Run Down

I would submit pictures if allowed but, we were told we would have a walk-in shower as in the pictures as my husband needs one. That is why we chose this property over others. It did not happen and we were told none were available. My husband had to leave the property to shower! The chairs and couch were ripped and torn and the elevators were dirty and beat up. Great location but that was about it for us. Next time we will stay at the Embassy Suites, forget Vrbo.

it's actually a hotel, a little dated but very good staff

I was a bit surprised when I booked this because the booking platform did not say it was a hotel. Had I wanted to book a hotel room I would've called the hotel directly. It's in a quiet location just a few blocks away from Michigan Avenue in one direction in Lake Michigan in the other. This is not a hopping neighborhood like Lincoln Park or Lakeview, but a quiet residential area that requires walking to things. But it's close to the magnificent mile. A pretty long walk to things like the art Institute or the loop.The front desk staff were extremely professional, cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was pretty standard hotel fare but good. Very crowded on Saturday morning, couldn't get a seat. certain parts of it were updated but other parts were not. If you're looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel close to things and you're willing to overlook a few maintenance needs, it's a great choice.
