First impressions were that this listing was "ok" for the 2 days we were to stay. After unpacking and unloading groceries, I found the kitchen to be dirty. The refrigerator had dirty hand prints on the front, the coffee maker carafe had dried coffee in it and the basket had grinds in it. The microwave had food on its walls and in crevices. The can opener had food on the front and the blades were filthy. The stove burner liners were also dirty and rusty and really need replacing. The first plate I took out of the cabinet to use was dirty and had to be washed. We had to buy extra toilet paper because there were no extra rolls. One of the twin beds in the pinecone room was like sleeping on lumber. There was no iron or ironing board. The washer/dryer were used, but we had to clean the bleach dispenser first because someone used it for the laundry detergent. We did not use the TV, so I can't speak on its performance. The lighting was poor. This VRBO home did not meet my minimum standards. I have no idea how it got a rating of 8 and above. We left after our 1st day because this home was not comfortable. I did not notify the host because there was nothing he could have done to make this stay any better. I could not wait to leave. There were other things wrong, but it would take more room than I have to write.

Response from VrboOwner on 14 October 2026
Thank you for the feedback. We were honestly surprised to read several of these concerns after your stay.
During the less-than-24-hour visit, there were three separate contacts with you. The owner also gave you the local property-care phone number directly, that same number was posted in the kitchen, and you were specifically told that someone was on the way over to check the property after the Wi-Fi concern was mentioned.
At no point were concerns raised about cleanliness, dishes, the coffee maker, bathroom supplies, beds, lighting, or any of the other items mentioned in this review. No photos were sent and no request was made for housekeeping assistance or additional supplies. Extra toilet paper was also available in the upstairs bathroom cabinetry. We have gone back through the items mentioned in the review and will inspect or replace anything that genuinely needs attention. If a coffee maker, dish, can opener, stove drip pan, or other small detail was missed, we’ll own that and add it to our property-specific turnover checklist. This is a large North Country farmhouse, and while we work hard to make it clean and comfortable, it is not advertised as a luxury hotel. An iron and ironing board, for example, are not listed amenities.
What is frustrating is that local help was readily available, you had multiple ways to reach us, and you were directly told someone was coming over. We are very happy to fix a problem when we know about it.
Unfortunately, mind-reading has not

Quick 1 night stay
Thankfully it was just one night. The beds were uncomfortable. The house was clean but outdated and just felt old and uncomfortable. We would not stay again.

Clean place but address wrong
The house was clean and tidy, but the address was incorrect on Vrbo and the house was very cold upon arrival. No heat upstairs and the heat downstairs was shut off. (Temp during the day was below 50°, at night in the 20s). The host called me about the address after I messaged him. Vrbo needs to fix that.
