“In the Pines” lives up to its name as it sits nestled within numerous tall pines on the southeast shore of Big Trout Lake (walking distance from Manhattan Beach Lodge). If you’ve been to the Whitefish Chain of lakes, then you know Big Trout is special. The sunsets are unbeatable, and the water is a shade of blue that truly sets it apart (ask the locals they’ll say the same thing).

A completely restored 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom cedar-clad cabin is the perfect getaway for your family (or multi-family) adventure up-north. Enter through the original front door, walk on the original wood floors and feel eighty years of history freshly updated with all new finishes and technology. Tall ceilings and lofted spaces give the impression of a classic A-frame cabin while huge north-facing windows offer views of the Big Trout shoreline. Gather ‘round the eight-foot wide, twenty-three-foot-tall stone fireplace to make a wood fire and unwind after a day on the lake. Keep your boat right on the water, sit on the dock and watch the kids swim or catch a fish.

Enjoy the convenience of a remodeled kitchen with all new appliances, cabinets, and countertops (don’t overlook the wine and beverage fridge tucked under the center island). Retreat to the walkout basement to play cards, catch a movie on the big screen tv, or take a nap in one of the lakeside hammocks.

Explore the peninsula along the path located directly across the street. Afterwards, grab an outdoor shower (below the new deck) but if that’s not your thing, step inside and on to the heated tile floors in any one of the three remodeled bathrooms. In the Pines sits at the crossroads of classic MN cabin and modern north woods comfort. Here, the sun does shine, and you won’t shiver the whole night through.

The details: two main floor bedrooms (one queen bed) and the other sleeps 4 in pair of matching bunks. Main floor ¾ bath. Main floor kitchen, dining and large living room area. Upstairs: Loft bedroom (queen) with private ¾ bath and open seating area. Two basement bedrooms (one king!) and the other sleeps six (bunk room) with adjacent ¾ bathroom.

Remove all food and trash and put in bins outside . Be sure to close bins and put under Bear box. If you’re departing on Sunday please pull both bins up to road as trash comes Monday morning.

Beautiful house and location. Trout lake is amazing, and the beach is set up to enjoy it! Kitchen had all that we needed and plenty of room for the family. The driveway is really tricky to get in/out of, but just a good reason to stay parked and enjoy the space. Great access to bike/walking trails right across the street.

Great week at the lake!

Our family of 10 loved the house, the beach, the water, and the location. The hosts provided a nice variety of "extras" like paddle boards, pre-made fire pit, and a nicely raked beach for our enjoyment. We also loved the fact that we could walk to a great restaurant just down the road. 10 out of 10.

The house was very clean and exactly as pictured. Lots of games and activities to do within the house. The only heads up we would have appreciated was the steep driveway. It was rainy and dark when most of the group arrived and was hard for them to see.

Perfect Week at the Lake

This cabin has it all! We had three families (6 adults/7 kids) at the cabin and had a great time on and off the lake. We were conveniently located to restaurants, walking path and the lake/dock was perfect for all ages. Fishing and swimming off the dock was ideal for young and older kids with it’s nice sandy beach. Inside the cabin we had all the amenities we needed. Definitely coming back again.

This cabin had everything we needed for our stay! We felt perfectly at home. The inside of cabin was beautiful with high end finishes and linens. The cabin was extremely clean. Outdoors we had everything we needed for a fun stay! The only down side of the weekend was the boat traffic that would cruise by the dock extremely close and at high speeds.

Put the TREAT in retreat.

Not many vacation rentals are quite like this one. I've stayed at many, and this is BY FAR the best. Every amenity, every detail, every corner - beautiful. I had my family there this weekend and it was the most lovely experience. Lake time, restaurants near by, and a beautiful homey stay. I didn't want to leave. And the host is just incredible. Very nice cabin

We really enjoyed the property. Cabin was recently updated and clean. We gave the property a 4 star because the refrigerator didn't work much of our stay, otherwise it would have been 5 stars. The property owner was very responsive when we reached out with the issue but it took a couple days to get a repair man in to fix it.

AWESOME PLACE!

This was the perfect place for a family get away with grandparents and twin 2 year olds!!!! The place is basically NEW and has every amentity you could want! All of us had the best sleep we have had in ages. Bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms are perfectly appointed, the great room and kitchen table fit so many people. The downstairs tv is HUGE and my little ones loved watching a little TV at night. We lounged in every area and took in the quiet. It is great. We will definately be back. Thank you.

Beautiful getaway!

We had a great week at "In the Pines"! Our group of 16 (four couples + kids) found the house to have plenty of space and the beach/dock was an awesome setup to create memories. Plenty of beach towels provided, so you can pack light. The kitchen is nicely equipped, but you may want to bring your own cheese grater, sharp knives, and large mixing/serving bowls, and dish towels (there were only a few). The Blackstone griddle was great to have for larger meals! Be ware - the driveway is steep and you might have a bear visit your trash bin outside, so it may be a good idea to bring some straps to keep the trash securely shut overnight.

Wonderful house for the whole family

We stayed at Trout Lake for a Memorial Day weekend with our 3 children, their spouses, and 3 kids.The bedrooms easily accommodated everyone. The level beach was a fun place for the kids to play (even though the water was still, understandably, pretty chilly). The adults enjoyed the sauna. We took advantage of the bike trails and shopped in Crosslake a bit too. We appreciate the owner's help in finding us a place to park our trailers as part of our trip involved driving UTVs on the many trails nearby. The extra parking was necessary due to multiple trailers, but also be aware that the driveway is very steep. There is room to park several cars, but driving out onto the road is a bit nerve-wracking due to the incline. Overall a wonderful place - clean, well-maintained and close to many restaurants, shopping, and activities.
