About this property
Folk Art Cottage
Get away from it all when you stay on this lovely half-acre site. Short drive to River Road Plantations: Whitney, Laura, Oak Alley, etc.
Hi, I'm Elizabeth, your host. I live up front of the property, but the fenced half-acre backyard is completely yours to explore. Very private. Very quiet. Enjoy the ducks and chickens as they free range.
With the help of friends and professionals I renovated the cottage using recycled materials and new appliances. I added a composting toilet. Search "Nature's Head Composting Toilet" on Youtube to see how it works.
The property has privacy fencing all around with an automated gate. Visitors have off-street parking 10 ft. from the cottage front door.
Enjoy the beautiful trees and seasonal flowers in the back yard. Take your coffee near the duck pond and feed the chickens if you'd like. Fresh eggs daily when the birds are laying :-)

Why they chose this property
Garyville was a purpose-built community founded in 1903 to lumber cypress from the local swamps.
What makes this property unique
The cottage was built on site in the 1940s and used as a workshop.
The whole town was originally part of Glencoe and Esperance Plantations. Esperance still stands 1 mile away on River Road.
