Pull up to your cottage and witness the ocean just steps away! Renovated with many new Cape-style furnishings and fixtures that will add even more comfort to your stay!

The sandy beach with warm waters on Cape Cod Bay in North Eastham is perfect for small children and enjoyed by all ages! Off-street, private parking for three cars with room for a boat or trailer. Private landscaped yard. Gas grill for cooking your favorite summertime recipe! After a stroll on the beach, take in the salt air of a warm summer evening while kicking back in the screened-in porch!

Spacious master bedroom with queen bed and large second bedroom has two twin beds making for comfortable sleeping quarters for all. Third bedroom with two single beds. Lots of screened windows to hear the wind, sea and crickets. Comfortable living area has plenty of room for games or enjoy the evening watching the flat screen cable TV. Shower under the stars in the large cedar, outdoor shower with hot water and changing area. Cape Cod Vacation: air conditioning, fully stocked kitchen, blankets, pillows, cable TV, WIFI and DVD. Bed sheets and towels not included, but available for additional charge of $35 perperson.

NEW gas log fireplace for those cool off-season nights provides plenty of heat to keep you cozy warm!

Gateway to the Cape Cod National Seashore, the Town of Eastham is a coastal resort community straddling the arm of Cape Cod. Located on the outer Cape, the town is bounded on two sides by land, the other two by water, the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod Bay. Eastham is a quiet town with several ocean and bay beaches, a host of kettle ponds, pretty country lanes, panoramic views of Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, and lots of wide-open space for nature lovers. The Audubon Sanctuary in Wellfleet is a popular spot and is only several miles away.

Wonderful haven near steps from the ocean

We enjoyed a short break in Eastham and found this home to be the perfect base for a few days of exploration on the Outer Cape. The kitchen is well appointed, the living spaces are welcoming, and the outdoor patios made for great places to relax at any time of day. Best location we could have wished for and great hosts!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage, which is comfortable, nicely appointed and well-stocked with everything needed to enjoy a week at the beach. The cottage is in a superb location, with easy access to all the venues we treasure: bay beaches, ocean beaches, Mass Audubon, the Great Island Trail in Wellfleet, the bike trail and many great places to get delicious seafood. When we weren't out and about our beloved Outer Cape, we loved spending peaceful time in the cottage's yard or walking down to Cook's Brook to savor beach views at various times and tides. Would definitely come back to this delightful cottage!

Perfect for us!

We loved everything about Steele Away! The size, the location, the proximity to the beach...it was awesome! The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and we loved the fireplace in the cool evenings. We also loved the sunporch and had our coffee there every morning. Eastham was convenient to everything we wanted to do and see. We'll definitely be back!💖 And the owners are responsive, helpful and courteous!

Perfect size and location for our family

This house had the perfect set up for our family of 5. We spent Memorial Day weekend there and had 3 seasons of weather. On the hot days we sat out on the deck and had our morning coffee. And on the cold and rainy days, we put the gas fire on and it warmed up the whole house just enough to take the chill away. We also loved being able to take a short walk down to the beach. We would definitely book again. Thank you!

Wonderful for a family trip!

The cottage had everything we needed for our family beach vacation. The beach supplies and trolley were perfect for the short trip to the beach. (we only needed the trolley since we had so many chairs / toys for the kids not because it was far at all). The deck and outdoor shower were perfect to clean off our toddlers after a long day at the beach. We enjoyed evenings on the deck and mornings on the front porch. The cottage had plenty of room and the enclosed front porch area with the third bedroom served as a great space for the kids to color & play when they needed a break from the sun outside. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for the (limited) cooking we did at home but it was nice to have that as an option. The owners were accommodating to our schedules & requests and extremely accessible and easy to reach when we had questions. We would definitely return in the future and recommend to other families.

Thanks Courtney! Now that we have added the new windows to the third bedroom, it truly functions as another room. Kids seem to love it for sleeping and playing. Adults like it as a place to escape to for reading and relaxing. It's bright, sunny and peaceful. The proximity to the beach and the ability to easily come back and forth when needed was the main attraction when we purchased the cottage. The beach is only four houses away! Fall in love

This charming cottage was the perfect headquarters for our fall visit to Cape Cod. We wanted to relax and recharge and this place was ideal: blissfully quiet, exceedingly comfortable, thoughtfully equipped and perfectly maintained. We made full use of the well-organized kitchen and enjoyed meals on the enclosed porch. The gas fireplace was especially welcome on cool evenings and mornings. We loved our long walks along the gorgeous beach, just a few steps from the cottage. The sunsets were stunning! A short drive takes you to many outstanding destinations, including the splendid Massachusetts Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuary and National Seashore sites. You don’t have to go far to find the best of Cape Cod. It’s evident that the owners truly care about the property and make every effort to accommodate their guests. Would we go back to Steele Away Cottage? In a heartbeat!

Relaxing, quiet week

The house is compact and comfortable. It easily accommodates 2-4 people. Space is provided for two more people, probably best if they are children or young adults. The skylights in the living room are bright enough that I thought they were floodlights and spent several minutes looking for a switch to turn them off/down. They do a great job lighting the central part of the house. The shower in the bathroom is claustraphobic. If the weather permits, I encourage you to use the outdoor shower. It has much to recommend it. The property is well maintained, secluded and handsome. A stroll through the surrounding streets is a good way to spend an afternoon. The beach is less than a five-minute walk away. The sand is lovely, though the amount of seaweed in the water made swimming less appealing. At low tide, the beach stretches for several hundred yards or more; there are no dropoffs to surprise the unwary wader.

A very nice vacation rental. The owners have upgraded the property & it's close to the beach.

From first sight this is a very good rental. Exterior and interior upgrades are obvious (see photo flip-folio located on the hanging plate cabinet). We loved the spacious hot water outdoor shower. Washer and dryer are a plus for mid-week laundry (didn't have to pack as much clothing). The gas fireplace was great for mid-September chill mornings and evenings. Cook's Brook Beach, a short walk away, had beautiful sunsets. Having good cable TV made for good am and pm news and weather viewing, and evening baseball games. Alexa was a hoot. One moment "she" could understand "Eastham" and the next not. Overall, a good, solid rental. Only a few suggestions, some of which may be in the next wave of upgrades: 1-indoor shower had wonky doors and some mildew/mold around bottom. 2-Bathmat could have used a good washing before we arrived; we weren't sure if stacked washer would be too out of balance, or we would have washed it. 3-Beds were too hard for any of the 3 of us to sleep comfortably. 4-Sofa and matching chair were also uncomfortable to sit on for any duration. 5-House instructions could be updated to correct wifi password typo (case-sensitive).

Thank you Michelle. We just added the Alexa to all four of our cottages this year and the response has been overwhelmingly positive! It appears that you enjoyed many of the great features of both the house and the local area. Although we have made extensive renovations to the property since we purchased it a few years ago, our work is not done. We do our best to create as comfortable an environment for all of our guests and we take all feedback and suggestions to heart. We are in the process of applying for a building permit to tear down the bathroom and build a new one which would include a whole new shower/tub, double vanity and add significant footage to the existing bathroom. We are converting to town water at the end of the season and will no longer need a shed with a well pump and filtration system, so that space will be incorporated into the new bathroom as well. When it comes to bedding, it can be a challenge. It is hard to satisfy everyone, but we do our best. We will consider your comments though. The information sheet was updated a while ago when we discovered the error in the password. Our apologies if you didn't receive an updated copy. Thank you again for your suggestions and we hope that you'll come back again!

great escape to relax

The property is exactly as listed and pictured. Perfect location for the beach and exploring the Cape. The gas fireplace was beautiful on the cool nights in April and nothing could beat the glass enclosed sun porch. Couldn't enjoy sitting or eating outside or no need for the outside shower due to the weather but a perfect outside shower. Communication with owner no issue.Highly recommend!

Perfect location, perfect cottage

We absolutely loved our week-stay in this cottage. The location was ideal. Only a short walk to the beach to watch amazing sunsets. We were close to other beaches, restaurants and some fantastic golf courses. The cottage had everything we needed. Initially we were missing a few items that were listed as being included in the rental and Paula and Charles were very responsive and brought these items over right away. This was a much needed relaxing getaway and we would highly recommend it.

Great fall getaway

What a lovely spot for a fall trip! The kitchen was perfectly appointed for both cooking from scratch and reheating takeout, and everything was super clean - both key in the era of COVID. The location was convenient to all my favorite spots in Eastham and Wellfleet. Just the shortest walk to a beautiful bay beach, and the gas fireplace kept the house toasty and inviting even on a rainy or chilly night. Thank you for a great long weekend escape in a challenging year!

Just Right.

We came for the long weekend and the place was exactly what we wanted, a cozy little place on the seashore. There was plenty of space for the 4 of us and it was nicely appointed with everything we needed. We loved the decor and that the beach was just a short walk from the cottage. Even though it was October, there was still plenty to do in the area. Autumn in Cape Cod is something I will certainly experience again. Charles and Paula were excellent hosts who kept in touch while we stayed over. Just a wonderful trip all round.

We have vacationed with our kids in Eastham for over twenty five years. It has always been our dream to own a home that we can share with others to create memories like the ones that we have enjoyed for so long. Eastham is an area for all ages and interests. It goes beyond the beautiful beaches and water sports to include sightseeing of American Indian and Pilgrim settlements, whale watching, nature trails, vineyard tours and natural history.

Why they chose this property

The proximity of this cottage to the beach is commented on consistently by our guests. Being just a one minute walk away allows you to make easy trips back and forth whenever you need to, be it a cold drink, a bathroom visit or a change of clothes. The property itself offers a private backyard for relaxing after a day at the beach or when cooking out. Our most popular feature at the cottage is the fabulous outdoor shower. Don't forget to try showering under the stars! However, before you do that, you'll want to walk those few steps back to the beach to watch the sun setting into the ocean on a clear day. This is an east coast rarity and one that never grows old - even after twenty five years!
