This property is beautiful. Looks exactly like online listing, maybe even better. The hosts were incredibly kind and responsive, and we had a blast exploring in the golf carts and enjoying some quality time together. Our kids didn't want to leave!
Highly recommend if you love the outdoors.
This was our 2nd time at the cabin and it was just what we needed. A perfect place to unwind, enjoy nature and have a great time with our dogs! We are already planning our next, longer stay!
We had the best time at nature lover’s dream cabin! They were so sweet and welcoming and the cabin/surrounding area was beautiful. We can’t wait to go back!
7 friends and I celebrated my 40th birthday with a weekend at their lovely cabin. Everything went perfectly! We loved the boats, the golf carts, the hot tub, the cabin, and the views. Incredible sunsets and gorgeous land. We also enjoyed shopping at the local stores and ordered pizza one night. The hosts are incredible and so kind. Highly recommend! I can't wait to go back sometime with my husband and kids!!
The property was beautiful. The house was beautiful and very clean. The hosts were so nice. The golf cart was fun to drive around the property. The hottub was very clean. I will definitely recommend this place! We had a great time!!
We had the best long weekend with family- the house comes with beautiful views, hundreds of acres, and even golf carts (have to pay for them daily though). The owner, Dean, was extremely courteous and warm welcoming! They had the house staged with beverages, snacks, and bakery. They even checked in and were very inviting. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be returning.
Beautiful landscape with million dollar views. A great place to relax and see the beauty in nature with family and friends. So much to do from canoing, hiking, or just sit and relax on the porch and listen to the sparrows. Beautiful spacious cabin with lots of space to accommodate guests. This property will not disappoint. Highly recommend!!
It was the perfect getaway forn our family of 4 which includes our 2 adult children and 2 furbabies. We were blessed with unseasonably warm weather and were able to enjoy the beautiful property and decks. We will have to return for a longer stay in the spring!
We visited in mid October when the leaves were stunning. It's a gorgeous property. Dean was very attentive with any questions or needs we had. Would definitely return!
If you get a chance to experience this oasis in Amish Country, go for it!
The hosts are above & beyond! The cabin is comfortable & charming with everything you need, and the acreage & ponds provide plenty of natural beauty & places to explore.
We had the bonus of the harvest moon and never got tired of the endless views!
Our dog Yogi had the time of his life🐾♥️
The property is absolutely beautiful as is the house. The hosts, Dean and Kari, are wonderful, sharing people. The care and love they have put into the entire property are obvious and greatly appreciated. Even though it rained most of our stay, we still enjoyed our time as the views from the house are magnificent, the barn is huge and full of antiques to ponder, there is a washer & dryer so when we got drenched hiking in the rain, we could dry our clothes, and they provide Roku and Netflix, so we had movies to watch as well. We have so much more to explore - both on foot and via the golf cart which turned out to be a blast! This is truly a blessed place. Thank you for making us feel welcome and sharing your home and family stories. We cannot wait for our next visits!
Well-appointed cabin that’s remote, but not off-grid. We were able to ring in the New Year with peace and quiet as well as Netflix. Large kitchen was stocked with supplies- just bring your own ingredients and feed a family with ease. Family Dollar is up the road if you forget any essentials. Hot tub is enclosed with enough climate control options to enjoy year-round. Hosts were readily accessible by text and gave excellent guidance to get us to the destination.
My family recently had the pleasure of staying at this property and it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beauty of the place. The grounds were meticulously cared for, offering stunning views at every turn. Exploring the ponds, trails, and flowing high grass in the fields by golf cart added to the enjoyment.
The cleanliness was impeccable. Every corner of the property was spotless, from the bedrooms to the hot tub or barn. It was clear that the owners takes great pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
What truly set this place apart, however, was the level of accommodation. The owner Dean went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met. He was attentive without being intrusive, always available to help by call or text. Whether it was a special request or simply guidance on local attractions, they made sure that we felt welcomed and cared for throughout our stay.
In summary, this property is a perfect blend of beauty, cleanliness, and outstanding service. It is ideal for anyone looking for a serene and accommodating getaway, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you Dean and Kari!
Our stay at Dean & Kari's cabin in Walhonding was so wonderful! It was a truly serene escape in the Ohio countryside. While it was set in a quiet, rural area, it was a convenient 15-minute drive from the town of Mount Vernon where we could buy groceries and go out to dinner.
The property itself provided lovely scenery with its rolling hills and farm views. Being able to explore the grounds via golf cart was so nice! The outdoor spaces like the patio and balcony allowed for relaxing amid the natural surroundings. Inside, the home had nice amenities including a dedicated Netflix account and Wi-Fi. We had everything we needed!
What made the experience especially enjoyable was the attentive host, Dean. He was welcoming and attentive and was eager to make sure we had everything needed for a pleasant stay.
For those seeking a peaceful getaway in a picturesque rural setting, this rental is an excellent choice. The tranquility allowed for true relaxation and disconnect from the stresses of everyday life. My only regret was not being able to stay longer.
What everyone else has written about Hollyberry House in their reviews is true! While we don’t have kids (and are grandparent age anyway), I can see why this is the perfect place to let kids run loose outdoors. But it’s also great for older folks who enjoy walking trails with our dog. We took a different route each time and still managed to cover only about half the trails in a week. (But that gives us trails to explore on our next trip.).
The cabin is rustic but beautifully furnished with comfortable furniture and sturdy antiques; my husband esp. appreciated the recliners because he has back problems. There were end tables and lights everywhere you might need one. The kitchen was well-equipped and ergonomically designed. It’s also much bigger than the photos suggest. In fact, as is often the case, the photos don’t do the property justice.
My husband was pleasantly surprised by the Netflix package, finding some good movies and the entire Seinfeld series to watch. I loved the views of the rolling countryside, the wind chimes on the side porch, the horizon at first light when I walked our dog.
To complete the package, there are stores nearby—the Amish Friendly Meadows Country Store 2 miles to the west with baked goods, deli items, and fresh produce—and Family Dollar 1mile east with essentials like toilet paper, water and soft drinks, milk, etc. There is a gas station with a drive-through across from Family Dollar.
Thanks, Dean and Kari!
We were lucky to find this property for our family of four (2 parents and 2 college-aged students) to stay for Family Weekend at Kenyon. Those of you looking for a place to stay know how hard it can be to find a place.
The location is just under 20 minutes from Kenyon - just down 229. It is a very easy ride on country roads - you just have to keep an eye out for deer, especially during the fall.
There is a Dollar Store that carries a lot of groceries and a Friendly food store that is open during the day that has baked items, a deli, fruit, veggies, and other things. These are about 5 minutes from the cabin. We cooked our breakfasts and one dinner during our 3-night stay. The cabin is well equipped as are the bathrooms. The bedding is comfortable and there is a Roku for the TV.
The cabin is located on 140 acres with several ponds, access to golf carts for an additional minimal charge, and a hot tub.
The owners of the cabin met us for check-in to show us some things and were available if we needed them. The cabin is well-maintained and clean.
There is a full bathroom and bedroom on the main floor. Upstairs there is a large loft with a full bathroom. There are two queen beds on both sides of the bathroom and a sitting area - it is very cozy. There are several steps to get up to the loft area.
For families with Kenyon students, this may be just the place for you and your student to reconnect, restore, and rejuvenate.
We so enjoyed our stay. Disconnecting from the hectic life and having time to rejuvenate. Dean & Kari, as always, are wonderful hosts. We had a mix of weather this stay with lots of sunshine! The waterfall was in full splendor and was so beautiful to watch and listen to. Lots of deer and we enjoyed watching the gold fish, frogs, froglets, and the polliwogs! :) And stargazing with the full moon. We will return as there is always more to explore. Such a blessed place. Thank you for the hospitality!
Dean and Kari are the perfect hosts and have a truly amazing property. Communication was excellent, the house and property were exactly as described and their hospitality was unmatched. We were lucky enough to be their first guest to partake in their wine tasting. Let me tell you, their wine is ALL delicious, they definitely know how to make it!!! Elsaan’s Delight was definitely our groups favorite. We left out of there with a case of 5 different wines because they were all sooooo good. The property is so beautiful and peaceful. The option of the golf carts is a great touch. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate for our trip so we didn’t get to use them, but the barn was set up with cornhole and ping pong so we had some stuff to do. We did do some hiking around and every inch of the property is beautiful. Dean and Kari are wonderful people and joy to be around. If you’re looking for an amazing getaway definitely don’t sleep on this property, you won’t be disappointed!!
