Looking for Paradise? Here it is at the El Matador! Has to be the most sought of family vacation resort on the Emerald Coast. A secluded condominium nestled between the beautiful white sand dunes and the sparkling Emerald Waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!

Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. With two pools, his and her whirlpool, and saunas just right for your tired muscles after a game of tennis on one of our courts, or in our fitness center. We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. This gated community with thirteen miles of undeveloped beaches to the west is sure to have you longing to return.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The trip was good and room was clean and neat. The view was alittle disappointing and the sliding glass door off the bedroom hardly didnt open and the one off the living was very difficult to open. The plugs on the headboard wall were shot and did not work.

Complex great , condo and realtor not so great

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The complex was great and I would stay at El Matador again but in a different unit. 245 needs some major updates and housekeeping was horrible. The floor was gross the rugs around the room was dark with dirt. The entry door was in bad shape , patio doors don't lock and screens were off track. The sofa bed will only accommodate a small child there were no linens for sofa bed. The appliances were straight from the 70's. All that being sad complex was clean, great location , beautiful sugar sand beach everything is a short drive away Quiet end of the beach definitely would return.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was not happy at all with this unit. The bathroom has not been updated since the 80's, the ice maker did not work, HOWEVER, Alicia J. Hollis brought us 2 bags of ice, and the mattress pad and therefor the sheet would not stay on the bed. Alicia & associates were great as always and I will use them again but NOT this unit.

Reviewer Comments: Areas for improvement: The front door handle is dangerous - virtually no way to unlock the door without scraping your knuckles on the door jam - or worse. Patio furniture bulky and tired, unpleasant to use. Living room furniture upholstery needed cleaning. Floors needed sweep/mop when we arrived. Paper towel rack on kitchen pantry door was broken. Some of the glasses were cracked. The shower handle came off when you turned on the water. A refrigerator door drawer was loose and had to be taken out for the week - otherwise it would've broken off when you opened the door. Would have been nice to have the hot tubs working while we were there. Good Things: Heated pool and oceanside pool immaculate - beautiful condition. Workout room (w/tv) and adjoining restrooms very clean and recently remodeled. Layout of the condo was good, comfortable. Nice location in the complex. View of ocean from every room (except bathroom). Staff all very pleasant, helpful and professional. Neighbors totally cool. Great location for privacy and for shopping, stores, restaurants and beach access. Good supply of towels, bed/sheets clean, "starter" paper products and garbage bags available. Internet access good (bring your own ethernet cable). TVs and cable worked well. Supply of reading material available. Suggestion: There is an Okaloosa Island Visitors Center less than a mile east with free tourism materials - why not pick some up and have them available in the condo? Provide a map of the area i.e. nearest grocery store, etc.
