We LOVED this quiet island retreat for our trip to Maine. The 1913 house gave a rustic, tucked-in vibe. Beds were comfy, adequate storage. 1 full bath +1 toilet room worked for us. Our favorite nightly perch was the back porch overlooking the ocean. Easy meal prep in the full kitchen- a few ants but controlled. While the house sits very close to the road, very little road noise. Probably not appropriate for young kids who might run out into road. Very hilly with no shoulders on road- watch where you walk, not bike friendly. Next door is a lovely bakery and outfitter for kayak rentals. It's 3 miles over the bridge from Orr's Island to the end of the Bailey Island. We explored the Great Steps on Bailey Island and made several trips to nearby Bowdoin College(Gelato Fiasco on Main st) for their Art, Artic museums & ocean center. Boothbay Harbor and Portland are a quick 30 min drive. Many great restaurants in the area. Close to nearby Bath, Harpswell, Freeport. Awesome lobster rolls in Wicasset. Stayed in Bar Harbor overnight for 2 day trip to Acadia National Park so we wouldn't have to trek the 3 hrs back. Outdoor parking next to house for up to 2 cars. Met the lovely owner and learned more history of the area. Bring extra fans to cool bedrooms; not a problem in fall. Would definitely return!!
