The Fisherman's Cottage, located 35 minutes south of Savannah, Georgia in Historic Sunbury Georgia, offers comfortable and affordable accommodations directly on DEEP WATER that serves as the the gateway to the best kept secret on the East Coast – the unspoiled Georgia Barrier Islands. These protected islands and waterways offer pristine beaches and a reef ecosystem that attracts incredible fishing. Bring your boat, easily back it into the river at the public boat ramp within walking distance of the cottage and dock it at our own private deep water dock. We can also arrange for a charter boat for a day of inshore fishing or a leisure trip exploring the undisturbed beaches and wildlife of the barrier islands.

Drive, walk or take the boat to the nearby Sunbury Crab Company Restaurant for fresh local seafood and incredible views of the river from this open air restaurant.

Beautiful Views & Restful Vacation

My husband & I really enjoyed our stay in Sunbury. The cottage was very peaceful with beautiful views. Our dogs loved the screened-in porch that allowed us all to enjoy the scenery.

Fisherman's Cottage

Everything was great!! The house was nice, clean and comfortable. The area is beautiful and has lots of low country charm. The views were spectacular. We will be back and this time we'll bring our boat.

AWESOME STAY

When my partner and I pulled up, we went STRAIGHT to the dock!!! We are fishing fanatics! After fishing we wanted to be comfortable. And this home made us fee like we were HOME!. Perfect weekend getaway

Fisherman’s Cottage was the perfect weekend retreat! Quiet, cozy, and right on the water. We couldn’t have asked for a better combination. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed crabbing from the dock! I highly recommend staying here. Hopefully we will be able to return.

Relaxing with stunning views

Loved watching the sunrise and set— stunning views. Great little place to hide from reality of life’s stressors. House was equipped with utensils, grill, spots to relax and clothes washing facilities. The twin beds in the second room were perfect for my two children. The master was great, but the bed was a bit too soft for me. I’m sure it’s fine for others. Bring your poles and bait to fish, not a lot of stores around for supplies (which is a good thing). Also, they have a regular coffee pot, so bring your favorite coffee and you will be in heaven. 😊

We love the cottage! This was our 4th visit. Being able to have the boat docked out front all week is a huge plus. The screened porch is heaven and where we spent a great deal of time. The area is very peaceful and quiet. Overall one of our favorite getaways!

A tranquil and beautiful escape

This is an obviously well-maintained and very tastefully decorated cottage in a gorgeous, historic waterfront area, just 40 minutes south of Savannah. Surrounded by hypnotic Spanish moss, live oak, magnolia, palm, and tides from the sea. The private dock and screened porch were amazing and the sunrise over the Medway sublime. Would love to stay again!

Great location

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at Fisherman's Cottage. The view every morning was phenomenal. The dock was great for leaving our boat. Easy access to St Catherine's and surrounding islands. House was small but just big enough for a small crew. Front porch was great. Loved relaxing in the hammock. Will definitely be back!

Love Sunbury Cottage. Can't beat the location! Having your own boat dock is by far one of the best amenities of this property. Love the decor. Property manager Dana makes everything easy and works with you to make your stay great. We will be back again!

Lacked Hospitality

This was our second time staying at this property. First time was in March 2018. Being a native of Savannah, I knew exactly what to expect as far as the weather, sand, gnats/mosquitos, etc., but we did not feel as welcomed as we did the first time. I mentioned to the host we were visiting my sister and her husband and was immediately asked or it was somehow implied we would be housing more than just ourselves and the house only allows 6 people, but since we did not list more than 2 occupants we could not have more than 2 occupants there. I am not sure the nature behind this, but my husband and I are in our 50's and not throwing any house parties these days. We left a day early due to a conflict back home. We followed the closing instructions and vacated. I realized when I got home that I had left my work computer battery plugged into the wall so I emailed the host and asked if there would be any way to send it to me and I would be happy to pay any costs associated. The host responded a day or two later and said okay. I never received the battery or any communication to say they would not be sending it or if they sent it at all. Overall, the stay was nice and we enjoyed the location very much, but don't expect that warm southern welcome the low country is well known for. You will be disappointed if you do.
