About this property

Penthouse on the top of Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, bridge to bridge views.

Perched high on the hill, under Coit Tower, the 2 bedrooms, 2 bath penthouse is within walking distance of the financial district, dozens of North Beach and waterfront restaurants. It's an easy commute to tech companies on the peninsula, UCSF and Stanford Universities or take a ferry to Sausalito or Alcatraz.

A private elevator takes you from the 2-car garage, to the top floor where even the gourmet kitchen has views out to the terrace and the bay. At the end of a cul de sac, just below Coit Tower, the unit is in a quiet neighborhood with a view of the bustling city below. Pier 39, Alcatraz, the Ferry piers, Ghirardelli Square, the Maritime Museum, are all within walking distance. The Embarcadero, the Ferry Building, bursting with markets and restaurants, and the world renown Exploratorium, are all just below. All the famous North Beach restaurants, including Mama's, Original Joe's, Tony's Pizza Napoletana, home of 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani, night clubs, and lively music venues are just blocks away. The spirit of the Beat Generation can be felt at the storied City Lights bookstore and the memorabilia-filled Vesuvio Cafe bar. Cafe Trieste and Cafe Greco are local hang outs, featuring North Beach characters and delicious pastries.

For lazy nights at home, the gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped with dishwasher, Wolf cooktop, microwave, toaster, blender, LG refrigerator ice maker, slow cooker, crisper, stand mixer, everything for accomplished chefs. The spacious terrace has a gas barbecue and comfortable seating while you look out over your unobstructed view of San Francisco Bay.

Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, with built-in office work spaces, and views across the city, and gardens below. There's an extensive library with both fiction and non-fiction as well as many fine arts books.

We have been hosting guests in our penthouse condominium for over 15 years, and many of our guests come every year to spend a month or two in their home away from home. Some come to get away from the cold in winter, and others the heat in the summer, and some to recuperate from surgery, since the private elevator make the unit completely accessible. Every one of them has said it’s better than they could have imagined. It’s hard to see in photos, but there are every changing views from almost every window, exposing the never-ending beauty of San Francisco. We are both artists who've lived in Europe, and speak French, and some Spanish. We leave our favorite art and books for your enjoyment.

We are new to VRBO, so we don't have reviews from them, but here is an example from a recent guest, Julie from Chicago, 2023:

“I stayed the month of April in North Beach at this glorious place at the end of a cul-de-sac on Chestnut. The location was perfect, a short walk to Grant/Stockton/Columbus with a plethora of restaurants, shops, coffee houses and bakeries. Parks filled with lovely settings and interesting people. The access to Pier 39 was a few minutes walk. Bike rental pick up just down a couple of hills to ride across the GGB to Sausalito for lunch. Cobb’s Comedy Club and Club Fugazi were fun outings. Lots of wonderful and safe strolls. Just be aware of the Coyotes at night that like to walk the streets…

Now about the accommodations. No view in all of my travel compares. The sunroom overlooks activity on the bay from cruise ships to cargo barges, swimmers to Alcatraz, sailboat regattas and just incredible eye candy day or night with stars and city lights. The place had every amenity and to fill every need. Artwork and books to entertain with a kitchen stocked of any item needed for living and entertaining. Do whatever it takes to stay here, never regret treating yourself to the best and this is the best. The owners made it a fabulous home and you will feel it."

"Many rental apartments in San Francisco claim to have a Million Dollar view. If they are correct then this home has a 10 Million Dollar view.” - Anonymous

"The most fantastic condo in a perfect location in San Francisco. I've been to SF before, but this was the ideal spot for a week's vacation with my adult children."
Linda - Petoskey, Michigan

"This flat was simply magical. From the views to the artwork, it was far more than I could have hoped for. I would hope to stay there again some day…"
Antonio - U.K.
