This is not your typical rental property. The apartment furnishings are worn and well-loved. The master bedroom bed was quite comfortable, but the twin bed mattresses weren't very comfortable for two adult women sharing a room. Robert lives in the building and is friendly and invested in making sure your stay is comfortable. The location is perfect, as are the views. The only thing to note is that, if you are used to a sterile VRBO rental, this isn't that type of rental. This is a lived-in apartment that you are renting for your visit.
This was the perfect place for us to stay. It is not only close to all main attractions but also provided a feel of how living in San Francisco might be. The views from the balcony are wonderful, the interior design both interesting and comfortable, and it is surprisingly quiet for being so close to Fisherman’s wharf. We loved it and would book again anytime.
The apartment was clean and comfortable. Nicely centralized and close to fishermens wharf. This apartment is not for anyone with physical disabilities due to the steps. Rob and Laurie were very helpful. We enjoyed our time in san francisco very much!
The outside staircase accessing the VRBO is very rickety and has two treads which feel like your foot may go through them. Our family of three adults limited our travels to one person at a time on the staircase after arriving. It sways too much for my comfort.Previous reviews that state “needs to be cleaned”, meaning that things need to be thrown away! Every room has old, cluttered items everywhere. If the owner addressed the safety issues and unbelievable clutter issues, this rental would be great. The location is very good and the views are amazing.
Views are as advertised and location is great. Parrots were fun and in the morning before the city gets too busy, you can hear the sea lions barking. Water pressure is great. Location is less than a mile to most everything you want to see
Perfect size, location, amazing views and Robert the host was absolutely charming and hospitality. We stayed for 5 nights with our teenage son and it was perfect!!
Robert was a fantastic host and the property is perfect for getting to everything you need to see in SF. The view cannot be beat! We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers in the unit and we fit just fine, the couch was super comfortable for our tall teen and the other 2 fit great in the twin bed room. Kitchen was easy to navigate and Trader Joe's is a quick walk away to stock up. Plenty of coffee close by and it's only a few minutes walk to the wharf and all the sites by the water. Would definitely recommend for families!

Hi Michaela,
Thanks for the great and detailed review. Great having you, Shaun, and the kids here.
Great location. Host was always available. Place could use a deep cleaning and decluttered. Twin beds were children size. We managed but too small for adults.
Robert our host was engaging and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Decent Stay with Room for ImprovementThe PropertyThe property was in a convenient location and served as an okay base for our time in San Francisco. That said, the accommodation is clearly well-loved and starting to show its age. Many of the furnishings and amenities felt quite worn and heavily used, which made the space feel a bit less cozy than expected.Host & CommunicationOur interactions with the host were a bit mixed. Communication felt somewhat blunt or reserved at times, and a few of the check-ins and messages came across as a little unusual or overly attentive, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable.SummaryThe place covers the essentials if you just need a place with a great view in the city, but with some updating to the amenities and a slightly more seamless communication style, the guest experience could be much better.
Clean rooms, comfy couch, usable kitchen and dining space a great water pressure in the shower. Robert was a fantastic host and we would definitely stay here again if/when we return.
I loved our stay here, and if/when I come back to the Bay Area I would absolutely stay here again. Robert was such a helpful and kind host; he made sure we had everything we needed and genuinely wanted us to have a nice stay. We travelled with our 2 kids, 6 and 8, so there were 4 of us total. I was very diligent in making sure we stayed in a safe location and this place absolutely delivered. The beds were soft and comfy and the location is fantastic- it’s very walkable and easy for delivery drivers to find. This is a nice historic San Francisco apartment; I’ve visited relatives in similarly historic buildings and this was a very authentic Bay Area experience. I’m so very grateful for the wonderful and safe experience with my kids, who now have great memories of city life!I also want to note that there is a full kitchen, plenty of towels, blankets, and everything to make the stay cozy.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the over the top review.
Glad you had a great time!
Just a great location and property. We had a wonderful dinner party in the dining room during our stay and many memorable meals around the city. Robert is super-accommodating.
Robert was a great host. The apartment is in an amazing location close to Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39. The couch in the living room is very comfortable and the kitchen is well outfitted. Only downside is the master bedroom mattress is very soft and not comfortable if you prefer more firmness.
